Just do these steps, ok. Put patch if you want at warcraft3 folder.

1. Unistall Warcraft 3
2. Delete folder which is left behind
3. Install Warcraft 3
4. Install Frozen Throne
5. Download official 1.24 here http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/war3x/pa...4a_English.exe
6. Apply patch
7. Profit

There is no need for reinstall unless you used some of the customization tools on your WC3 (DotA theme manager, Diabolic tools etc...). W3Fixer will do just fine.

i cant seem to create any room in v1.24.
and although i have the map, when i go into a rm, it shows im downloading the map and i get auto-kicked at 99. is it just my com ?

Oy !my 1.24 works, I can play dota on garena, but I cant play AI it doesnt work nor can i open other maps cause it gives me Fatalerror....

Does this mean I have to wait for 1.24b? what do I do?

1.24 does not work with previous DotA maps because the code has changed , thats why 6.61b didnt work ....

AI won't work simply cos the most recent ai map isn't compatible with .24, if you want to resolve AI problems just downgrade back to .23.

A few quick things for all those thanking either Blizzard or IceFrog.

1.) Blizzard screwed over ~90% of all at least halfway decent custom maps with this patch. Not that this was unannounced. What was unannounced is that they implemented faulty protections against the return bug that caused false positives.
2.) You are thanking IceFrog for uploading a new version where only the version number changed within a day. Other mapmakers managed to port their whole codebase to 1.24 within 12 hours. Way to go.
3.) I never saw a reason to test 6.62 publicly. Either you can port your codebase to 1.24 without issues, or you cant. If you cant, you should take your time to rewrite it. Thoroughly. Hacking your way through things is not the way to go if you want to maintain a codebase for a few years. People have been preaching for years that abusing the return bug for unsafe typecasts will one day cost that coders life as he tries to resolve issues related to those typecasts (Yes, it WAS common practice. But WHEN? 2006? 2007?).
4.) Blizzard knew they were releasing a broken patch unannounced. Why else would they have added a whitelist?

Dont get me wrong. I like DotA as a player.

I redownloaded the map..no use(the 6.61c)
tried to download from someone but at 99 it auto kicked me..

it's good to see that blizzard still cares about us and stop complaining about latest patches...

anyone who can't patch and found error "can't find install path" must open regedit, in HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software >Blizzard Entertainment>Warcraft III

create new string "InstallPath" and enter you warcraft directory...

NB : for advanced users only.

the safer way is reinstalling your warcraft using original installer not an extracted files
