Back on the Clock

Posted 01-19-2012 at 01:35 AM by Lapis Lazuli

Hey guys, it's been a while, I know. Now that the hard part of school is over, I think I have more time to commit to lost projects, the first would be my blog. The hardest period is over, and I'm not talking about the one with the all the blood. I'm talking about all those time I spent to cater to my mew girlfriend (it was worth it though I give you that)

3 main points I'd like to get out from this entry:

*The Future of Many Quality Guides on playdota
*The Future of this compilation
*This blog

I/By "many quality guides", I meant:

Meaning the guides that LightRedemption had left on hanging with my account. The other ones either me or my girlfriend is the co-author, so there's not really any problem with those. However, the ones mentioned above, well, I'll try to keep them updated and add things, but none of those I'll be able to handfully comment on or reply to any specific suggestions. It's like for he planned this
For those who are interested in the story:
A week or so ago, he announced his leave from the forums, or at least its activities. Attemps to reach him since then has been in vain, and that asshole dared to leave me all the work (maintainance any way). Checking up on his account, it shows him still regularly logging on, yet not answering any pms or calls, bastard. Meaning now I'm stuck with this, for a while until I can get a hold of him. However all of this is irrelevant.

II/Yeah, I have nothing to do with that.

III/I'll try to get back to where I was, being a bit more active if you can say that. Though it isn't entirely rewarding, I feel like it can be a good past time. Until I patch this place up, a few things to sooth those that came here for pretty pictures.

Escaping the Lapis Lazuli palace

Posted 09-09-2011 at 09:27 AM by Lapis Lazuli

Alright, time for another review. This is something I had in mind for a while, but for some reason put it until now to work on. Here it is: Aoishiro - Kaeisho

You might very well recognized the name Aoishiro. Yes, it was a Visual novel that I made a review on not so long ago. Honestly speaking, I've known and read the manga adaption (this one) before I actually played the Visual Novel. If there's anything I would like to comment on my experience, it would be

Now don't get me wrong, the manga isn't at all bad or anything. It's just way too confusing. Now everything below is spoilers for a reason, so you might reconsider viewing it if you haven't read the manga yet, like I always note

Story:

Unlike what you'd expect from a Visual Novel manga adaption, the story is actually a CROSSOVER of the of SUCCESS's yuri visual novels, Aoishiro (which should be obvious) and Akaito (a console only Visual novel that even I haven't been able to get my hands on, though admitedly I know of the story already like anyone with google). The first 2 volumes (somewhat) follows Nami's route of the Aoishiro Visual novel, while the 3rd one presents a cross over with the Akaito's story. It was damn confusing, even for someone who's played through Aoishiro (I just re-read it 15 mins ago and was barely able to get it). Either that or the translation was a bit too confusing.

Artwork:

Doesn't actually live up to the Visual Novel itself. It looked more like the early works of Akaito days than the polished arts of Aoishiro years later. It was good, but not enough to my expectations. Don't worry though, there are better things about it that I'll be sure to tell you next time.

Characters developement:

Disappointing would be harsh, but it felt like that for me. It can't really be helped, since the Visual Novel was exceptional piece of potraying work, and the manga was just short, but would be too run on if focused too much on the character's personality. A shame.

Yuri-ism:

It's there. Not at all hidden, but was just seldomly present. However, that's nothing that would affect the manga too much though

So yeah, that's about it. I promise to bring something very similar to you soon. For the mean time, just enjoy the story and tell me how you feel about it. Also a note that the Reader's Request Review counter is still open. Good day now, and to leave with a good mood, here is a mot for tomorrow!

Double the fun

What's more fun than Yuri? Well, nothing actually, but there is something you'd be excited to see
That's right, two times the Yuri a.k.a Yuri Yuri

However, I must not that this is not Yuru Yuri, the one that was anime-d. People make this mistake sometimes because the names look so alike, and I don't blame them. Also, because of that, it was SOOOO hard getting a good large poster of Yuri Yuri, really, it deserves a lot more than that. If you can find one please pm me, I'd really appreciate it

Name: Yuri Yuri
Type: Manga
Genres: Shojo-ai, Slice of Life, Romance, School Life
Requester: sekainokami

I almost forgotm this one is a request too

Now, there is a strange nature to this manga series. It's not really a continuation of the past stories, but new ones realeased every full chapter, there's also a half chapter as a sequel to one of the fulls.

Art: 8/10
You might notice it looking like Yuru Yuri. Well, I might have needed to said this earlier, but the 2 have the same artist/mangaka XD. Overall cute look, a bit of a round face.

Character development: 7/10
Considering that there are almost no continuation, you get what's there, so not enough room to improve or reflect on, so there's only that

Plot

Since they are more unrelated, I wouldn't rate it

Chapter 1

Nice plot overall. Not at all unpredictable, but there's not really many rooms for that. 2 girls, in the same school. 1 blame the other of stalking her and she feels creepy "when their eyes met". But well...that's about it, the rest is for you to read.

Chapter 1.5

Nice small continuation, too bad it's so short

Chapter 2 - 3

Though the plot line isn't truly identical, the settings are alike and like Chapter 1, thus there's not really much to say

You might notice this looks like a scrap-up review. Well due to the nature of the series, it's almost impossible to do one. However, since it was requested it's kind of my job, so here you go

And it's monday too!

Edit: Apparently there was some problems, and despite it was supposed to be released on Monday, it wasn't until Wednesday that it got out XD

バタフライ キス

Posted 09-01-2011 at 01:59 AM by Lapis Lazuli

Sadly no Review Requests recently, seemed like people are just being shy or just don't trust me

So, I decided, just for the heck of it, turn to one of my personal favorites.

You might notice the name being... familiar, even if you haven't heard of the manga, yeah...
Ok, let's start off with the review

Art: 8->6/10

Now a lot of you might disagree with me at this point. The art does seem somewhat crude and unpolished. However, since this is a personal review, I find it unique and risk-taking. Though it's not that good, it falls into my taste. Problem is the later it gets, the worse the art became, which was thoroughly disappointing.

Story: 6 (?)

Not entirely original (maybe because I've read too much). The plot can get confusing at times, but I guess the series hasn't been fully translated yet so there's no absolute to it.

Basically, Homura and Sakurako (who are NOTHING like Setsuna and Konoka, let me assure you,) attend Prinpikia Academy, which is one syllable shift away from being a pretty great name. It is a school of magic, of course. And there are fights, of course. With giant weapons. There is also a nadesico-type classic beauty, complete with henchchicks and political and magical power who is in love with Homura's partner, the sweet, kind, passive, frontally lobotomized Sakurako.

Yeah, in a nutshell

Characters development

Every chapter, a fight. Every chapter Homura wins with her ginormous Butterfly Knife. And Sakurako kisses things alot, because that's how she uses her magic. She doesn't just kiss other people, she kisses random passing objects, dolls, magic sigils floating in the air.

It's not their fault how they're being potraited

Yuri-ism (?) Yuriness (?): 7
There's ecchi stuffs, confession, semi-confession and skinship yes. Well, all and all it was somewhat refreshing.

If you hadn't noticed at this point, this manga was where I got the alias BtrflyKssBlade (I have so many aliases that's true). I don't know why, but even though the series itself isn't that good, it felt honest to me
So if you want to give it a try, go ahead, the link is in the picture. Have a good day

A Kiss on the Flower Petals

Posted 08-26-2011 at 09:26 AM by Lapis Lazuli
Updated 05-28-2012 at 06:14 AM by Wivot

This time, I'm giving you something special
What would be called special after all the things I've put here you ask? Well, the first ever 18+ recommendation!
Yes you heard it right. And since I already warned you, you take all the responsibility for whatever this entry might cause

Name: Sono Hanabira Ni Kuchiduke Wo: Anata to Koibito Tsunagi OVA
Type: Anime OVA
Genres: Ecchi, Yuri, Romance, Ero
Requester: sekainokami

removed

Now unlike the previous request made by Omegatsun, this one was a improvisation of my own accord. Sekai requested a sono hanabira review, but he didn't specify which one. So, I decide to review the Anime Adaption OVA instead
Clicking on the poster shall take you to the order site (In Japanese). I hope you support them and buy the DVD. If you can't buy nor find the dl link for yourself, pm and I'll be happy to help.

Since it's quite a short one, I'd just break it down to tiny pieces

Characters presentation:

Extremely true to the original visual novel. I was very pleased (aside from the inevitable nosebleed) when I first saw the coming of the game. Cute, fluffy, nice and anatomically realistic

Scene settings:

It really doesn't change much. The OVA itself is quite short, so there's not really much scene changing, considering this one is an erouge

Plot:

There are many things you'd see, but on little that you would actually get (at first). The plot is plain and simple, while still giving you that hngggggg!!!!!!!!!!! feeling.

Music and sounds

Not really much to it when it comes to music considering bed scenes, but the sound is realistic and help alot with setting the mood, so there's nothing to complain

Best wishes to you all. Sorry this one was a little short. To make up for it, here's a few more pics
