September 19, 2009 (SATURDAY), We just had the worst typhoon in 4 Decades


Morning

Typhoon's name is Ketsana or Ondoy (Local)

Hurricane Katrina rainfall = 380mm (15 inches) in Louisiana. 0.5 inches per hour
Typhoon Ondoy rainfall = 410mm (16.1 inches) in Manila. 2.24 inches per hour

Ondoy's rainfall is equivalent to two months worth rain. Imagine that much rain in just 6 hours!.

Floods were as high as 2 stories, telephone/electrical poles almost are at the same level as the rescue boats floating nearby.


Middle of the day

Some cities were 100% submerge in water, as if you are looking at a the sea. Imagine whole subdivision of houses and roads full of cars under your boat.

They cut the electricity in the entire region to prevent people from being electrocuted. The 6hour time frame of heavy downpour occurred in the middle of the night, so just imagine complete darkness with a heavy downpour.

We had no power for three days.

Even in the darkest of days, stories of heroism echoes upon the hard wind. Stories like soldiers died saving people.

The next day, the water subsided at least 10 feet. A lot of people were missing, dead bodies floating everywhere, there was one man whos entire family drowned with no house left no money no clothes, there was one man who don't know where he is or where his family is at.








Times have changed, but "bayanihan" is still the same



Like I said, flood already subsided.
