Of RPG's and other things

So I've never posted on my blog before so I guess I can do whatever I want, huh?

Alright well here it goes...

My MMORPG experience capped with two games: Diablo 2 and Phantasy Star Online. Since then, every MMORPG experience has been utter crap. I mean, it really is the same repetitive bullshit without any spark that those two games had. I'm looking at you- World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, Diablo 3, Tera, etc. etc.

Now Tera might be an exclusion because it's pretty sweet. But, I can honestly say as a true-blood gamer that my MMORPG experience reached it's peak after Phantasy Star Online. As a matter of fact, whenever I watch an MMORPG game played by others, and see them wipe out a creep camp with the same shitty "upgradable" combo 200 times over, I nearly fall asleep. And what do you get at the end? Levels. Perhaps friends as well, and I'm all for that- but really.. besides better items and levels, is there really any skill involved?

Perhaps there's a bias I have as a DotA player. Our game is incredible... every game is a new experience and personal skill plays a huge role in a teams success. However, teamwork itself is an amazing element in the game. It's big. You work together, communicate well, and play well as an individual- done.

I guess all I'm trying to say is that DotA grants so much more of an experience than MMORPG's in terms of teamwork, personal skill, and friendship. Though the game can be a downer sometimes...

But isn't that where the test of friendship really pulls through? There's always a challenge.

Anyway, fun first blog.
