[Rune] Some more runes

Got a few more I thought of. I will possibly post the best ideas as a thread.
  • Ambush: grants the user and nearby allies within a 600 AoE max movespeed and the smoke of deceit effect for up to 20 seconds
  • Spark: damages the closest hero equal to 30% of their maximum health (can hit invisible or unseen units). If there is no nearby hero, the user of the rune restores 25% of their maximum mana.
  • Mana: restores 50% of the target's maximum mana instantly
  • Storms: creates a barrier around the hero, granting them 10 armor and 15% extra magic resist and dealing 25 DPS to enemies within a 300 AoE.
  • Trampling: the user can ignore pathing and will destroy tress they walk over. Walking over impassable terrain is possible, but the user incurs a 30% movespeed reduction while passing.
  • Eluding: the user gains 20% evasion for 50 seconds (works on any instance of damage)
  • Prosperity: the user and all their allies recover 200 health and mana over the next 10 seconds and receive 30 bonus gold instantly.
  • Sabotage: the next rune will spawn at the same location as where the sabotage rune spawned. If an enemy attempts to collect the next rune which spawns, they are slowed by 30% for the next 5 seconds.
  • Preparation: the next rune will spawn at the same spot as the preparation rune's spawn location. 500 unobstructed vision is granted around the rune area until that rune spawns and then the vision remains for the next 10 seconds after the rune spawns.
  • Protection: grants the user a barrier for the next 45 seconds. The strength of the barrier is equal to [60+ 11 per level of the user].
  • Hellfire: for the next 60 seconds, basic attacks made by the user will burn the target for 1% of their max health as pure damage each second for 4 seconds.
  • Return: the user instantly teleports to their fountain. After 5 seconds, they will return to the location where they used the rune. Moving more than 1000 distance from the fountain while warped will cancel the return effect. 500 flying vision is granted around the location where you used the rune.
  • Fade: the user becomes invisible after a 3 second delay. Effect lasts for 40 seconds.

EDIT: this post was supposed to be posted on the 21st, but I accidentally posted it instantly.

A few more I thought of. I will eventually put them together into a formal suggestion.
  • Stoneskin: grants magic immunity for 20 seconds
  • Draining: grants 20% lifesteal for 60 seconds
  • Blood: heals/increases maximum health equal to 50% of your maximum mana for 50 seconds
  • Revival: reduces death timers for you and your allies by 100% for the next 8 seconds.
  • Amplification: grants a user an aura which reduces the magic resistance of all visible enemies within a 800 AoE by 15%. Lasts for 45 seconds
  • Recovery: all allied structures heal 20% of their health instantly
  • Fortification: allows glyph of fortification to be used once without triggering the cooldown.
  • Punishment: does 200 magic damage to the weakest enemy hero on the map. Can hit targets that you do not have vision over.
  • Demolition: enemy structures have their armor reduced to by 50% and deal 30% less damage for 60 seconds.

[Rune] Brainstorming some rune ideas

I am gonna post a few rune ideas I've thought up recently. While these ideas might likely have been suggested before, bear with me.

New Rune ideas:
  • Shadow: covers a 600 AoE around the user with a dark mist, creating a phantom zone in the area for 30 seconds. The user is granted vision within the mist and enemies which enter it suffer a 35% miss chance
  • Vigor: increases the user's base stats by 50% for 1 minute
  • Serenity: adds a buff to the user which prevents the next death (the user respawns at base instantly and suffers no gold penalty). This buff lasts for 5 minutes or when the user dies.
  • Force: spawns an extra creep wave for the user, complete with siege unit. These summoned creeps give no exp or gold. Attacking this rune and destroying it grants the attacker 100 gold.
  • Fortune: doubles gold gain for the next 45 seconds (includes tower kills, hero kills, creep kills, roshan kills, etc)
  • Diligence: doubles exp gain from all sources for 40 seconds
  • Heart: increases the user's max health and mana by 30% for 1 minute (the health/mana increase also increases their current hp/mana by the same amount)
  • Sight: gives the user unobstructed vision for 45 seconds, also sets the user's vision range to 1800/1800
  • Riches (possibly uncodeable in warcraft): allows the user to access the main shop from any distance. Lasts 1 minute.
  • Intuition: reveals the location of all enemy heroes for 6 seconds (reveals invisible units and gives 200 vision around revealed heroes)
  • Anti-ward: all enemy wards are destroyed (alternate: enemy wards lose 40% of their lifespan)

[Contest 3 update] Preemptive Details

Update: the contest is postponed until I get enough participants to comment on heroes.

I am sorry for making this decision guys, but the flood of fake key trades and giveaways here on the forums makes it almost impossible for me to get enough attention.



I am starting to prepare for my 3rd beta key contest. A thread has been posted to hopefully get more participants involved. Go to the thread and keep bumping it; the bigger turnout, the greater chance my blog can host another contest like this in the future.

For starters, you must give feedback (via comment) on any hero I have suggested over this year. Just go to your favorite hero, click "new comment" and tell me what you think. Be sure to give complete feedback (what you like, what you don't like, etc)

The actual contest details are still being planned, but I will post the details on my blog before the forums, so check in often.

The winner will receive a dota 2 beta key which comes with 2 steam invites when you redeem it. So you can get a few friends in too.


Reminder: The prizes awarded by this contest are to be used for getting into the beta to play some dota 2. While I cannot prevent you from selling the key, I highly suggest you do not sell the keys to any other person.

[Sent - Str] Sanctus - Paragon of Light

Sanctus is a powerful team fighters, equipped with damage dispersal and large AoE spells. Playing Sanctus effectively involves giving allies the upper hand with Sanctify and obliterating enemies with Holy Fervor and Judgment.

Sanctus can also handle well in lane, reducing the damage his lane partner(s) take and also having the ability to break apart enemy gank attempts with Sanctify's cast effect.

This hero will most likely be posted as a thread too, so provide feedback both on the blog and on the thread!
