Default Buff removal mechanisms


What's the differences among Dark Pact, Time Lapse, Kraken Shell, Borrowed Time, Dispel Magic, Aphotic Shield, Culling Blade, Primal Split and Infest on the aspect of buff removal in mechanism? (maybe some other spells that i forget here?)

I'm not requiring lists of spells that can be removed by them, but want to know how they respectively managed to remove buffs. Maybe some of them have buff lists to check, and some of them are hard coded to remove certain buffs?

And also what about magic immune, ethereal, cyclone, purge(Stone Gaze) and mirror image?

For Time Lapse, Kraken Shell, Borrowed Time, and Aphotic Shield they all use the same method which the native remove all negitive buffs. However Kraken Shell is disabled by doom so it won't remove that buff and Aphotic Shield is coded so it can't be casted on a doomed unit.

Dark Pact uses a specifiv lists of buffs to remove.

Dispell Magic, Magic Immunity, cyclone, ethereal, purge and mirror image all are hardcoded to remove certain buffs.

Ethereal, and mirror image remove physical buffs and I'm too lazy to remember what purge and cyclone remove.

One thing to note is that there is no hardcoded way to remove doom, it can only be removed by a triggered buff removal.

Also, Time Lapse uses the Dark Pact list, in addition to the native.

thanks I didnt know that.

Hmmm doesn't that seem a bit redundant as all the buffs on the list are negitive ones...

The only thing I see that might not be removed by the native is Ice Blast [A1JA], since it is given as an aura.
It might even be the only reason why IceFrog added it.

Seems only Borrowed Time remove Doom

And for mirror image, some other buffs besides physical are set to remove, isn't it?

  • Aura buffs are applied by timed intervals, so removal of them is not obvious.
  • AoE Buffs go on effect as unit enters area. Once they are removed, unit need to exit and reenter the area.
  • Active Immolation and Mana Shield will be turned of when their buffs are removed.
  • Once it's buff is removed, Passive Immolation will be disabled until unit is Paused/Unpaused, Killed/Revived or ability/item is removed and added again.
  • Units with 0 ms can't be Cycloned. ( Like Ensnared, Entangled )
