The thing is, even if they add turn animations, they don't want it to "reduce responsiveness"....so if turn animations are ever added, it would be purely aesthetic---you could still turn on a dime instantly, there'd just be an animation to accompany it.

Ever since bads noticed Q could crit. Most people still build him as a tank, but in the long run he functions like a late game carry almost as much as a tank.

quit lol because they can't fucking balance their game for shit, every 2 weeks BOOM!, something gets a huge nerf bat to the head, or something get ridiculously nerfed to the ground, they will never achieve balance if they keep focusing on releasing "new" champions every 2 weeks

LoL is not Dota you see...im pretty sure they balance their game in different aspect....

in terms of balancing, Icefrog wins hard
riot's way of balancing: anything strong should be nerfed! nerfed I say! a hero is doing amazing under the hands of a skilled player? NERF! not because the player is skilled, but because the hero is OP! NERF!

Icefrog: a hero is strong, let's see if I can help the community facing the hero by a combination of small nerfs, small buffs to others, introducing more items and heroes so the community would actually have to THINK and L2P instead of crying about how the bloody hero is op.

This game is so easy, I borrowed my friend's 30 account and played ranked. I just facerolled my opponents and laughed at "elo hell". I think it was 1500~ elo

Not really...Annie, Mordekaiser, Shaco, and LeBlanc all have pets, and Orianna has a pseudo-pet.

multiple summons (in case of yorick) is controlled by AI

depends on each hero, price doesn't necessarily relates to strength level.

each week/month, the community "discovers" a strong hero(es) and endlessly whine about them. this forces riot to act, usually by nerfing them to make the community "happy".

while nerfs are easy to come, riot doesn't respond a lot on cries on underpowered heroes. (the case of evelynn, twitch, etc. kayle and teemo after a very long time finally are getting buffed in upcoming patch)

so that's the story on how most balancing happen in league of legends

Riot does sell power, though they out and out deny it.

Runes have a hefty impact on the game and can only be purchased with IP--someone who purchased champions with RP will have a significant advantage over someone who's using IP for both.

Riot counters by saying this is a choice that players make, that you don't have to own all the champions, etc. While this is true, I still see it as a minor form of selling power....that said, once you're of a moderate skill level and level 30, this problem pretty much evaporates....it's more of an issue from levels 20-30 and lower skill level 30's.

Overall game balance is "ok", but Riot has the mentality of "is something strong/cost efficient/used too much? Nerf it" instead of "perhaps we should introduce a counter".

IE: Old old Twisted Fate would have been fine with a few number tweaks and the introduction of TP scrolls, but Riot canned TP scrolls in alpha.

Oh, Riot pretty much hates strong auras...because, according to Zileas, a +200 damage aura is only mildly more appreciate, by players, than a 50 damage aura, while being way more *actually* impactful on the game in actuality.

That said, despite this, they allow aura stacking, orb stacking (of the same item even, in some cases), and few others cases....they're starting to come around on this a bit, but it's still on a case by case basis.

Very well balanced. Unless your playing Eve, who has been purposely had her legs broken pending rework which should be coming soon(TM). It'll come down to basic mechanics and familiarity with the character: I can do more crazy things with Moakai than say, Nocturne, because I've played Tree enough to learn all his tricks. Though there isn't a single game in the genre where that isn't true.

I should mention there are two champions who break this rule however: Ryze and Akali. Both of these champs have noticeable and immediate power boosts when tricked out with specialist rune pages tailored for them: which free week users won't have. It's not a major issue with Ryze, as it just effects his late game damage peak. However is significantly effects Akali; due to her passive.

Do you feel proud when you read Riot designer's blabbering about how he came up with and idea of *insert a champion ripped off from dota*. How it was a completely original idea and how he wasn't ripping off anything from other games?

Reading the post about Varus (WR rip-off with powershot, shackleshot, AS buff and sniper's shrapnel) made me wanna puke. This guy ripped off WR and has the guts to talk how it was an absolutely original idea.

Raining arrows is a concept nearly every kid has come across or thought of at some point. Saying it is a rip from sniper's shrapnel is dumb. The idea of holding the button down for more range on an arrow shot is simply intuitive and often used in pc games with bows, and that isn't how WR's shot works anyway (probably because WC3 engine can't support that). Just because someone made something first, it doesn't mean everything after is a rip. With that kind of thinking people would have to quit creating in this world, because new ideas are often similar to past ideas.

I consider myself a DotA player first, not Dota 2, nor LoL, though I've played all 3 as well as HoN, so if I had any bias it would be in favor of DotA. If you want to talk about ripping ideas, you could talk about how LoL's next patch will show health regen and mana regen, just like Dota 2 does. That said, I don't disapprove of such changes. If something is a good idea, and you don't face lawsuits for using the idea, then use it. Make the game better. Because in the end it makes the players happy, and it makes the company better. LoL shows the range of skills when using them. I'd be disappointed if Dota 2 didn't use such a feature because it didn't want to "rip" ideas from LoL. It is a smart feature, and should be used. Legion Commander has a duel skill, it reminds me of an ultimate from an LoL champion called Poppy. I don't know if that skill inspired it, but when I first saw the skill with Poppy, I thought it would be nice if DotA had something similar. And now it does, with its own flavor added to it. I like that.

lol i thought varus Q is inspire from Bastion!! the boy can charge the arrow and shoot it if im not mistaken....their designer said it...and he didn't know it's already feature in Dota.....and what's with the rage??.. Chill Tard!!...it's not like it going to effect your entire dota life and career...shessh....

you realize Varus's q acts more like a MEGA BUSTER than power shot right? also

From the description it sounds like the Breaker Bow in Bastion (fav game of 2011), which also sounds like a concept from many other video games.

If you're a Dota player, how do you find fun in higher level LoL games? Reason I ask is because once I hit level 25 in league the game started to feel awfully stagnant. I think the appeal of Dota is obvious, but in league many of the intricate details of the game are just missing, and it makes me kind of bored with the limited number of options.


Anyway, just fishing for an alternate opinion. I'm sure plenty of people think it's not all that bad, and some of those people play Dota, just want to know how the two games compare to other people.

play dominion, it works for me, but yeah, now I'm starting to get bored of dominion as well.

for me, to keep interested in LoL, you have to make "rotations" of games every period of time. e.g. play dominion for a week, then play ranked SR for a week, then play fun custom games like ARAB or ARAM games for another week or 2, and the rotation continues.

realize the intricate details of the games are different. specifically the mid game. League's mid game is massively more complicated than Dota's. Also level 25 is the dullest point cause it is where people start thinking "how do I get my team to win as a team?" and the solution seems to always be "poke war standoff in mid lane" instead of "take baron, form a gank squad, push sidelane teir 2, take dragon, ect."
