No items alter gameplay in any way. They just keep track of how many wards you place over the course of having the item equiped.

I think it counts how many wards you placed? It's just like strange modifier: kills/victories, it counts how many kills/victories you have

No gameplay altering things will be put into Dota2.
All strange modifiers do is add a "level-up" system to your item based off whatever kind you bought. Using your example, Wards Placed modifier will make your item level up the more you place wards. |
