Casual Why did nessaj wake up?

A bit after min 5:30 (replay time, not game time) on bot lane, there was a fight with troll and me vs nessaj and wr. Now, I really dont understand why did nessaj wake up after about 2 seconds when I nightmared him, and skill was on lvl 1 and should last 4 sec. I didnt notice anything or anyone attacking him, and if that happened, that unit would fall asleep.
Why did he wake up?

Did you read the text above the parser?

It looks to me as though the stun from the troll wore off, thus 'wiping'/resetting his status. If you had waited until after the stun wore off, maybe it would have worked correctly?

So if you are below 21HP at the start of nightmare, you will be dealt damage while being invulnerable.
=> nightmare will get removed without doing anything.

Bane casted nightmare (below 21HP) on himself, but nightmare got immediatly removed becasue bane was below 21HP, thus rendering him helpless.

In your case:
Bane casted nightmare (below 21HP) on Nessaj, but nightmare got immediatly removed becasue Nessaj was below 21HP, thus rendering him free from Nightmare and alive.
