Found it difficult to get past the prologue. Maybe I'm just not fond of the omniscient pov - plus it lessens the impact of the torture scene. Tenses flip-flop sometimes too. Also, wasn't her escape suspiciously easy?

The following chapters are easier to get through. I've always liked the first-person pov, I guess. Prose is a bit flowery though. Some grammar issues too, but nothing major.

*pov: not really an option
*flip-flops: my bad
*easiness: plot driven, wait for it
*flowery: yes, I like my literature to be flowery :3
*grammar: should be my bad, but I don't see any (or is that because I didn't update the fixed versions). Feel free to point out.
