FiiO usb amplifier and some decent grade headphones, that's already going to blow the budget though.
Can't really say. Your sound card doesn't most likely haven an amplifier to it. Speakers do fine on most integrated audio chipsets but headphones get a lot more out of proper amplification. I'd just try on getting an amp + decent headsets with good soundstage. While the "7.1" headphone sound works, it's still multiple crappy minisized sound sources put into a small space. |

Integrated audio cards have come a long way and it wouldn't surprise me even if they didn't suck all too much. That doesn't come with the fact that every integrated one is good, though.
Regardless, you shouldn't be looking at 7.1 audio systems with that kind of money. The best active speakers go for around ~200€, are 2.1. Anything pricier than that needs an amp. For headphones... well, just read this through. |
