Default (Overhaul) Illuminate


Hi to all readers,

I had this idea quite some time now, but I had not much time on weekend to post it. I finished the testmap today.

To my suggestion. I suggest to give Illuminate a completly new look.

Step 1: Name Change!
Why a name change? Whats wrong with current one? Just watch this:

Sounds for me more like some positive buffing skill, not like a hardcore damage dealing shockwave. So I suggest:

Lightmare

I think the name is really fitting and obvious. On the one hand, it describes the light, on the other hand it describes what a terrifying harassing skill it is. Of course the Hotkey 't' stays the same.

Step 2: Cosmetic change!

I think the current animation is really bad, because the used shockwave model doesn't fit the color scheme of Ezalor's skills and also ladder shockwave sound is played, this doesn't fit either. So I searched a little in the World Editor and played with some models and I got this:

Instead of playing Ezalors 'Spell'-animation in a loop, play his 'Stand Channel'-animation. The Lightning Orb gets replaced by the Lightblue Sphere. It uses

Abilities\Spells\Items\PotionOfOmniscience\CrystalBallCaster.mdl
with 25 50 255 coloring and 145 flying high. To get the Lightblue effect, 4 dummy units are stacked on top of each other. The Sphere gets bigger while channeling, it looks like Ezalor uses his staff to Increase the Sphere.

The Missile:



Believe me, it looks much better ingame. Less round and more shockwave-like. Please check the Testmap out!

When the Effect triggers, Ezalor plays his spell animation (can be canceled completly and won't effect gameplay a bit), the sound
Code:
Abilities->Spells->Other->Levelup->Levelupcaster
with a 1.99 pitch.
For the missile itself I used
Code:
Abilities\Spells\Human\ManaFlare\ManaFlareTarget.mdl
with 600% of normal size and 60 flying high. For the intense effect, 5 units at once are used on top of each other. Last, but not least, I used
Code:
Abilities\Spells\Human\ManaFlare\ManaFlareMissile.mdl
with 600% of normal size and also 60 flying high.
This effect works pretty well with this icon, found in this suggestion. I fully support it.




All models I used are ingame, so no MSI!

Pros:
-Fits Color Scheme
-Reduces an overused effect
-Looks better than current effect


Cons:
-Most of you like current name


Like always, I added a Testmap. Everything should work fine. Check it out please, ingame looks better than screenies.

Null on name change. Personally I like illuminate but I know it's rather unfit is definition.

For the effect, cool! Total support for it.

Atleast my suggestion uses ingame models only. Just use a recolored shockwave model isn't very creative. Come on, IF you import a model, than atleast something new and not the bad shockwave animation, but OK, thats you opinion.

I never played this game, and, tbh, I think Naruto sucks anyway. But even if it looks similar, where is the problem?

LOL... the casting animation is cool... a bit plain but I think it's better than the simple current one... However, you should not allow him to wave his wand at the end. The flow of the animation becomes inconsistent... just have him "cast" his normal attack animation or something that would show the ball-throwing thingy

The ball though... Hmm.... Dunno... null
