Elitist DotA players are cancer

You know who you are. I'll post what happened to me while in a pub -CM game.

During the game, our team was losing a bit and a bit of arguing occurred. Nothing major, but still. It eventually got onto how it was the captain's fault for not picking the right heroes. I suggested that Gyro or Spiritbreaker would have been better choices and then...

2 of my teammates started telling me off for even mentioning those heroes. They stated how they've never seen a good SB/Gyro (lol) and how they're bad heroes and they started telling me off for even bringing it up, and they started nitpicking everything I was doing in the game.
Eventually, after about 5 minutes of arguing, those 2 elitist players started sooking and stopped playing.

I hate you, elitist DotA players.
Here are some memorable quotes over my years of playing with you clowns who think your opinions are right and everyone else's are wrong:
- "LOL MoM for Spiritbreaker should be his first item coz it's a must for him"
- "LOL Enigma should never be anywhere other than jungling"
- "LOL not getting Lothar's for Sniper first"

And so on.

As you know by now, the problem was not the opinions themselves, but the fact that my teammates stopped playing because "MY OPINION IS FACT AND YOURS IS WRONG".

I don't think that's elitism, just stubborn, rigid minds. Gyro and SB are always open as an option (for me, at least) but there are other heroes that can bring more impact to the teamfights, and more importantly, contribute to the pushes.

Only the boots one is valid, the rest is debatable depending on player skill and preferences. Stats and regen stuff will help you last hit and deny better. You don't need to run that fast early on.

I know your feel, bro, some players are just that stubborn with the "competition-endorsed" picks and item builds. Ignore them, and proceed calmly.

lol well this thread isn't intended to be about the actual item builds and strategies, I only mentioned the boots thing as an example off the top of my head. I never stated it as something I do when I play.

This thread is about those players who believe in "wrong opinions" about item builds and playstyles, just because they've seen everyone else do it or because they've been watching the competitions.

Half of the posts in this thread ignored the main point of my thread and simply attacked the "boots as first item" thing. I was afraid this would happen. I'm deleting that bit.

I've seen it twice in the International 2 so far and it was reasonable and not terrible.

Elitists be elitist, whatever, but people are just so stubborn in their views. More things are viable/efficient/doable/not-stupid then a lot of people think.

This isn't really elitest dota players you're describing. It's the standard blame game where if people are losing they try to blame someoneelse's build or actions to justify why there team is failing. Happens all the time.

See, you have to consider WHY some players act like this.
It's because:
- they're idiots
- they see everyone else get specific builds
- they try to emulate competitive teams and complain when their team doesn't follow suit

A lot of players watch the competitive games and think everything those players do must be good.
This is wrong.
Being a good competitive team is about the tightly-knit frame of teamwork and communication that a solid team is built on.

If you try to employ those exact strategies into a pub game, 99% of the time you'll fail. It's different playstyles.
