Default [Cosmetics] Burrow Strike

SpikesThe tiny little spikes that appear in the trail of Burrowstrike just doesn't really fit Sand King. I know it looks cool, but it has nothing to do with neither Sand nor Earth. Therefore, I came up with some possible suggestions:
<Refer to attachment for alternative>

It replaces the Impale Spikes with Rockish/Sandy stuff. Enemy units hit will have a Warstomp effect to "Throw them into the air" instead of "Impale them".

The tooltip/icon needs a change, but that'll come later

So... Comments?

EDIT: Now the test map includes the Impale effect for those who miss it.

When commenting, please state which combination you like, e.g. "I like -sfx 3 -spike" and stuff. Thanks!
Tooltip should need no change if big spikes are maintained

Iunno, it seems kind of strange to me. I've always likened the impale spikes to parts of Sand King's body, magically amplified. However it fits more conceptually, so I suppose it fits better, as long as the icon and tooltip change with it.

So you wanna have the Spikes for throwing them up and the sandy stuff when he moves?
I'll see what I can do.
EDIT: You can now choose Spikes/Warstomp. Take your pick!

Not sure if want. Looks interesting but I agree on what Antifate said about it looking kinda weird for those of us that are very used to the spikes. Null vote.

Check the new test map. It uses Spikes as well, or at least you can enable them.
I just replaced the small spikes that appear in a row with Rocky/Sandy effects.

Thanks for the comment anyway.

BUMP! For those who haven't tested the new map, please do test it soon
The new map allows you to have more variations, because Impale Spike is back~!

(Double posting for bumping is against the rules, don't do that again).

I don't like the war stomp effect either, but the rest is cool.

Which part didn't you like? Any suggestions on improvement? Did you mean the Warstomp effect or the Sandy/Rock effect? Did you test the map and try out the variation of combinations? If you have not, I think you should try it in-game

So far, there are 0 views for the updated map...

PS: If you guys want simple effects, use -sfx and -spikes. This should give you the standard Burrow Strike with Rocks instead of small impale things.

I go for the -sfx 3 but not spikes and the warstomp... would it be possible to encode the -sfx 1's red particles to be the effects when it hits a target?

This is what happens: -sfx 3 for the contrail... when it hits a target, instead of spikes or the warstomp, the red particles from -sfx 1 will appear to show that it hits the target. I think this makes it flashy but not TOO much like warstomp.

Think its possible? But I really like your concept here. You've got good skills in the editor

That's ok... I'm impressed how you made it look more of like a burrow strike! Reminded me of scorpanok in the Transformers movie hehehe!

Yeah go eat dinner, it's 7:06pm here in Asia hehehe!

While being lazy and ignoring previous comments (Too lazy to read thru):

SFX 1 (Similar to Earthshaker's Fissure) - Doesn't really look like sand.... nothing more to say, just doesn't fit.
SFX 2 (Ancient Protector missile line with ImpaleTargetDust) - I like this one the most... I don't know why.
SFX 3 (Just Ancient Protector) - This one is also good, the effect is quick so enemies might not notice you have casted this.

War Stomp: Yuck! I like spikes

OMG! You should really use a variable for picked unit But its GUI, doesn't matter.

@AXN
I imported something and tried out the effect. Didn't really work really well. Won't post the test map but here's a screenie:

@APL
Ok, thanks for the comment. The first one is slightly too fiery I do agree. After examination, I did find the Warstomp effect horrible with Burrowstrike.
Does Picked Unit leak? I'm not sure about such leaks. I rarely bother with code quality when making test maps, its how Icefrog codes it that ends up being in the game, if this gets implemented xD

Thanks for the support/comment/critism/suggestions! They really helped!
