Good concept, but it's seriously too gamebreaking. Adding this item would be like a new Bottle - it would need to go through about 10 versions of playtesting before a reliable balance is reached.

Well that's what the suggestion forum is all about. Making new stuff for the game in order to revolutionize and elevate game play into new heights. Besides it balances itself out. It's like dedicating 1 item slot for consumables and item preservation.
I feel like I sound so epic right now.<< XD

Things that incite an entirely new concept to the game whilst enhancing game play is what DotA needs. I can still remember the days where Brad's Empty Bottle (now known as Magic Bottle) was first implemented, back then nobody seemed to use it as much as it did now. Back then most people fail to recognize the competitive play potential of Magic Bottle, but now Magic bottle is a staple item in both pubs and competitive. This is what I'm trying to achieve with this item.
Most of the time some people think that an item is unfair because once you get your hands on it, the other team is at a serious disadvantage, but the fail to realize that the other team is also capable of obtaining such item. It only falls on who wields it better. Of course this statement doesn't apply as much to this item suggestion compared to other items. I mean what does this item do? It turns a slot in your inventory into 3 item slots dedicated for consumables and holding drop upon death items, it saves you a trip to the base or shop when you want to sell or disassemble something. Hides things in your inventory you don't want the enemy to know you're carrying(wards, stolen GoTS or Divine Rapier, etc). These benefits are trivial things by themselves but when put together it contributes innovation to the game. In comparison what does bottle do? It gives you hp/mp restoration for up to 3 separate usage in the field and refills via fountain or runes, which means the item is permanent and can be used indefinitely. It makes you stay in your lane or outside the base for a very long time when used in combo with a courier(another "game breaking" innovation). It allows you to capture powerups and use it at a more convenient time plus refills itself when you do. It can be shared with a teammate thus making everyone else' lives a little easier. Back then things like these were game breaking, but now look where the item stands today.

I say no. Inventory is better when its very small so you have to choose your items... accurateblabal.

LoL I was going to make that change. Anyway Thanks so much for making my life easier.
Choosing your items is not an issue here. It dedicates 1 of your item slots and leaves you with with only 5 others to actively use for non-consumable items. the extra 2 slots are there because you spent gold for it. That didn't come free, you could have used that money for something else, so you see it's not imba. If you think it is perhaps a little price increase is in order.
