Skills That Interact With Siege Units and Structures


Readme

-All skills that interact with Siege Units one way or another are included with explanations.
-If the explanation is "Check." that means skills works properly without any exceptions, as it is used on/affected a valid target.
-Skills are listed in alphabetical order.
-If you need additional information about skills and effects you can use links attached to images.

About Siege Units

Level: 4 (88 experience)
Hit Points: 500 ( Not more than a usual melee crep but harder to kill most of the time because of the armor type )
Damage: 35-46
Attack Type: Siege ( This is what makes them "siege" units. This damage type does 1.5x damage to fortified armor.
Range:690 ( Rather a long range )
Armor: 0 ( What makes siege units tough against attacks is their armor type, not armor value.
Armor Type: Fortified ( Siege units are vulnerable to attacks from other siege units and towers. They have better protection against other attack types. )
Movement Speed: 325
BAT: 2.7 ( Siege Units attack once per 2.7 seconds )
Missile speed: 1100
Vision day/night: 1400/800
Acquisition range: 800 ( This is the range defines units aggression range. If an enemy enters this range Siege unit will attack him/her. )
Bounty: 66-80 ( The gold you get when you kill a siege unit. )

Additional Information

-Siege units give more experience and more money when killed, compared to other creeps.
-Siege Units follow same waypoints with other creeps.
-Mega Siege Units have 51-62 damage.
-Siege Units Spawn at 7nth Waves.
-Siege Units use Tower/Summon&Illusion/Creep/SiegeCreep/Hero priority order when choosing target.
-Siege units have Marker ability and are mechanical/not organic. Are not valid target for most skills because of these.



Active Hero Skills


Acid Spray - Damage over time won't affect, Only -armor.



Amplify Damage - Check.



Apothic Shield - Can be targeted and it Works normally on ally siege units. But blast damage won't affect enemy siege units.



Blade Fury - Bladefury does not affect Siege Units. Thus Yurnero is able to attack them when Blade Fury is activated.



Breathe Fire - Check.



Charge of Darkness - Siege units can be targeted but they won't be stunned on arrival.



Chronosphere - Check.



Dark Rift - Check. If you don't cast Dark Rift manually on the siege unit you won't be teleported it even if the siege unit is closest unit where you clicked. You will be teleported to second closest unit.



Death Coil - Check.



Demonic Conversion - Check.



Empower - Check.



Ensnare - Check.



Exorcism - Check.



Fatal Bonds - Check.



Focus Fire - Check.



Frost Armor - Check. Can't be slowed by it as it affects melee units.



Ghost Walk - Check. Enemy Siege Units will be slowed.



Guardian Angel - Check.



Illuminate - Check.



Inner Vitality - Check.



Ion Shell - Targetable on siege units, will damage around them. Siege units can't be damaged by ion shell.



Land Mines - Check. Triggers and takes damage.



Living Armor - Check.



Macropyre - Works but can't be targeted on a siege unit.



March of the Machines - Check.



Meld - Check.



Nether Blast - Check. Will do the exact damage that skill does.



Purification - Works on siege units normally, but they can't be damaged by it.



Repel - Check.



Rocket Barrage - Check.



Shackles - Check.



Soul Rip - Check. Won't count siege units when applying heal/damage.



Shadow Wave - Works as heal, can't damage siege units.



Shadow Word - Check.



Spectral Dagger - Only slow will apply.



Sprout - Check.



Static Remnant - Siege units will trigger Static Remnant but will not take damage from it.



Statis Trap - Check. Siege units will trigger trap and will be stunned.



Suicide Squad, Attack! - Check.



Surge - Check.



Test of Faith - Check.



Toss - Siege units can be targeted when tossing a unit. They can't be damaged by Toss.
Siege units can't be Tossed.



Wave of Terror - Damage won't apply. Armor and damage is decreased.



Wild Axes - You can target siege units. But skill will not damage them.



Windrunner - Check. Miss and Slow.



Windwalk - Backstabs will apply normally. ( Gondar's Windwalk, Storm Panda's Wildwalk, Nerubian Assassin's Vendetta.



Passive Hero Skills


Bloodbath - Check.



Fervor - Check.



Goblin's Greed - Check.



Juxtapose - Check.



Necromastery - Check.



Sadist - Check.



Hero Auras


Command Aura - Check.



Degen Aura - Check.



Empowering Haste - Check.



Heartstopper's Aura - Doesn't work. Buff will be shown only.



Inner Beast - Check.



Lunar Blessing - Check.



Presence of the Dark Lord - Check.



Trueshot Aura - Check.



All Attack Modifiers



Backstab - Check.



Bash - All kinds of Bash will work. Cranium Basher won't work as it uses a triggered skill.



Caustic Finale - Will not affect siege units, Only the damage from explosion.



Cleave - All kinds of cleave will work.



Corrosive Breath - Check.



Corruption - Check.



Critical Strike- All kinds of Critical Strike will work.



Entangle - Damage won't apply. Only pins them in point. ( Note that Spirit Bear's Entangle is based on Ensnare thus will not prevent units from attacking. Unlike other Entangle based skills; Frostbite, Overgrowth.



Feast - Check.



Flak Cannon - Check.



Frost Arrows - Check.



Frost Attack - Check.



Frostmourne - Abaddons gains movement and attack speed bonus when attacking siege units. However Frostmourne buff won't be placed on them. Thus they won't be slowed and other Heroes can't benefit from speed bonuses.



Geminate Attack - Check.



Greater Bash - Check.



Jinada - Check. Both critical strike and maim works.



Lifesteal - Check. Only Orb Effect lifesteal will work. Others won't (Insatiable Hunger, Vladmir's Offering...).



Maim - Check.



Nethertoxin - Check.



Moon Glaive - Check.



Overload - Storm can discharge by attacking a siege unit. But Overload can't damage a siege unit.



Psi Blades - Spill Damage won't affect siege units. Skill still works on other units when attacking a siege unit.



Pulverize - Check. Pulverize based abilities are: Leviathan's Anchor Smash, Infernal's Flaming Fists, Earth Panda's Pulverize.



Searing Arrows - Check.



Split Shot - Check.



Items


Assault Cuirass - Check. +/-Armor auras and %15 ias aura.



Shiva's Guard - Arctic Blast won't affect. Freezing Aura works.



Diffisual Blade - Purge works.



Boots of Travel - Check. Can portal to siege units.



Vladmir's Offering - Only Bonus Damage and Armor auras work.



Ring of Basilius - Only armor aura works.



Force Staff - Check.



Lothar's Edge - Check. Backstab will work.



Mekansm - Life Regeneration Aura Works. When used +2 armor will apply, heal won't.



Neutrals

Note: These skills' devour duplicates also work same way, except Frost Attack.



Command Aura - Check.



Endurance Aura - Check.



Ensnare - Check.



Frost Armor - Check. Can't be slowed by it as it affects melee units.



Frost Attack - Check.



Purge - Check.



Shockwave - Check.



Speed Aura - Check.



Toughness Aura - Check.



Unholy Aura - Check.



Others



Dispel - Check.



Last Will - Check.



Necronomicon Endurance Aura - Check.



Splash- Check.



Summons - All summons in DotA which are able to attack, can attack catapults aswell, with one and only exception of Death Ward, which can only target Heroes and Their Illusions. Also Tombstone don't summon Zombie's near Siege Units and they are uncontrolable, thus they can't attack siege units.



Skills That Interact With Towers and Structures



Assault Cuirass - Negative and Positive armor auras work.



Dark Rift - Check.



Blade Fury - Bladefury does not affect Towers. Thus Yurnero is able to attack them when Blade Fury is activated.



Chronosphere - Check.



Corrosive Breath - Check.



Degen Aura - Check. They can't escape!



Demolish - Check.



Diabolic Edict - Check.



Exorcism - Check.



Flak Cannon - Check.

Focus Fire - Check.

Nethertoxin - Check.



Return - Check.



Sadist - Check.



Searing Arrows - Check.



Shrapnel - Works. Deals %30 of normal damage.



Soul Rip - Can be casted on Towers but won't affect them. Won't count Towers when applying heal/damage.



Splash- Check.



Split Shot - Check.



Summons - All summons in DotA which are able to attack, can attack Structures aswell, with one and only exception of Death Ward, which can only target Heroes and Their Illusions. Also Tombstone don't summon Zombie's near Structures and they are uncontrolable, thus they can't attack them.



Tidebringer - Bonus damage applies when attacking towers, but cleave won't work.

Lifesteal Auras - Check. Fountains do not benefit from lifesteal aura, but it works on them.



Radiance - Check.



Scorched Earth - Check.



Smoke Screen - Check.



Tornado - Damage Works. Slow doesn't.

very nice guide, just wondering about storms overload does the slow effect siege units? It isnt mentioned. Other than that theres I don't think you have left anything out.

It took approximately 100 minute game with 100 heroes. To confirm and check all skills ): And ofc older tests which are not intented for guide.

I didn't noticed that overload slows them, I'll go check it than add if affects. Thanks.

Unfortunately overload don't affect them.

Formating error on March of the Machines.

Wave of Terror decreases attack too. Can you check if it works on siege units? It should since it is the same buff.

You are missing Scorch Earth's 4 dps that works on Siege units too. It is also based on Flame Strike that can target mechanical units.

Edit:
Entangle uses Ensnare to stop the target not a Pause effect. There is quite a big difference especially since Pause will prevent you from attacking and disables evasion.

When crixalix hits a organic unit it will receive a 0.25 buff. When unit dies within that interval it will explode and deal damage around them. Siege units are also affected from this damage.
