Default The junkyard - portofolio

Well, here's my little sig exposition, I will only show the ones I did for this forum, since the other ones are not dota-related & I feel somehow obliged to keep in theme.

Basic sig, I counted more on the color to make it look attractive than brushes or anything else. Original picture: NEW YEAR SLAM by ~Musuhnya on deviantART. First time I used this type of border.

Good ol' Rexxar, one of my favorites, again this is more color orientated than anything else, when I made this sig & the one above I wasn't using photoshop & I didn't know how it truly works (was using photoimpact) so all I did most of the time is change the color a bit & play with a nice stars background overlay style. This one turned out a bit pinkish.

Ok, I'm kinda out of the theme here, but I only did this one as somewhat of a tribute to Doom & his kin, this is in fact from a game called Disciples Sacred Lands (if anyone knows about it) & it represents Beghrezen, monick of the Legions of the Damned.

My very first photoshop sig, the bg is the new loading screen with blur & diffuse glow, shaker render has a bunch of effects, blur on the edges yet sharpen in the other parts, the text came kinda bad but I was happy with it at that time. The border is just handmade :-| nothing special. I liked the way the "Earthshaker" text came out, 3D ish & cartoonish.

My most complex sig yet, the background took a while to be done, the render well, I cut it myself from one of kunkka's works ( DotA: Defense of the Ancients by *kunkka on deviantART), it's not perfect, but hey, it's good for me. I needed to keep it simple again, since that's my style, added some smooth borders for skills & left the itembuilds by default, anything I tried seemed to make them look more ugly. Also for the ulti I added a small red border so that it would give it some kind of "special skill" feeling since it it is an ultimate after all. The border was made in photoimpact since it has some built in options which make things easier, I like the glow I ended up with in the black part where the skills are. I tried to hide my username & make it as discreet as possible since, it can only be seen well on black background (bellow the skills), on white background is practically invisible.

Lanaya on the spotlight I tried a different size for a signature this time since there were some that looked very nice in smaller sizes that attracted my attention. Was kinda undecided on where to put that damn Desolator >.< but I got over it as you can see. I got Warcraft3 viewer so now I can basically make sigs with any hero I want as long as he doesn't have too many skin edits >.>.
That aura around Lanaya is meant to represent "Refraction", right side transparency is meant to represent entering "Meld", the background was interesting to make, ended up with a nice atmosphere for an assasin, I first wanted to make a sig with lion (made a render from a fanart) but this was way too dark for him, (I never seem to get off any sigs with that render even though I tried about 4 times...) so I remembered that Lanaya is also one of my situational favs, so here it is, a sig dedicated to the glory of the Templar.
The spider represents Lanaya's style of hunting, waiting carefully till someone enters her web (Traps) then rapid strikes with strong poison (2x meld +refraction) which prove deadly most of the time & can even bring down tanks to their knees (well not rly but it hurts).
& yeah I kinda consider desolator as a core for Lanaya, it just works too well with her. I won't pick Lanaya in a game where I judge that I won't be able to get desolator & use it at it's full potential or where the enemy team has dot on tanks...

Well in this one, I tried to play around with lightning a bit, the original render was red & bigger, the main focus of this sig was the sword from the render (which I moded a bit). The background was easily made, the cloud effect came out in the last minute after I played with some after effects for the render I came out with a weird effect which eventually morphed into those clouds.
What do you guys think ?

I'll keep updating this as I make more sigs, post love/hate comments if you wish & check back later for more if you like them.

(btw if anyone wants the qop render, just send a private msg & i'll send it, though be warned it's not perfect, her inner wing is a bit weird, the rest should be fine though)

Actually Rexxar and the first earthshaker are the best imo. All the other sigs are essentially background + render + icons stuck on it. I can't really see any blending....and in the case of qop I can actually see the white outline of the render.

One exception, the third satyr? is blended pretty well but it's really messy and doesn't really flow in any direction really well.

Try and work on blending and lighting. The render should seem like part of the tag. A few efficient ways to do this:
1) Make sure the lighting of the bg is in the same direction as the lighting on the render.
2) Make sure the lighting is as diffused/bright as the light effects played on the render.
3) Have a generic colour scheme, where all the colours in the sig are based off of the colours of the render.

I knew I was missing out a big part from most of my sigs but I never knew what... untill now ^^'
Thx for the tips
