Default [Game Info] Simple mech rules


When you press F9, we can see the map Game Info, where we can find things like notes, commands, credits, etc.

Here I suggest that we add another mission log called Simple mech rules. In it, we would place, guess what, some simplified mech rules. What could we put there? This for example:

-A single attack can't have 2 orb effects or 2 buff placers, but it can have one buff placer and one orb effect.

-When 2 criticals proc at the same time the last acquired one will work, disregarding what is shown. Same happens with damage block abilities.

-Images are not affected by most auras or orb effects. The only exceptions are feedback on melee images, Endurance based aura, Radiance damage aura,

-The Order of damage calculations

In case the space is not enough, we could have a single quest log called "mech commands", where we would find some commands, like -images. When used, this command would show on the screen of the player who typed it, what stuff works on images, and what not.

Is it really necessary? Some others already know that, and newbs can just check out the site.

The thing that matters the most for me, is the damage order calculation, because most other stuff is easy to remember. If we could stick the orb effects chart that would be great, but I think that one may not be so simple, same with the linken/purge list.

Some more:

-The 1% regeneration from Heart will not stack with another Heart
-Only damage higher than 40 with Batrider as the source will be amplified by Sticky napalm
-Leoric's Reincarnation can only be stopped by: not having enough mana, skill on CD, and being on un-pathable terrain. Nothing else.
-Cleave skills stack completely, each one with its own AoE.

Why not just add a command like: -tipsplus (-tp) that would display a tip like "MKB-s active ability True strike disables Geminate Attack" every X seconds...
/support in both cases...

We could have billions of these.

Isn't the:
Orb effects do not stack
Buff placers do not stack
Clear enough?

Tips concerning only one heroes/item shouldn't be called general rules.

I think the main problem is that new players do not know what an "orb" or a "buff" is, and so it means nothing to say "orb effects do not stack". They also won't know what "proc" means, so saying that only the last acquired proc will work also means nothing...

That could work, but I was thinking more along the lines of more general rules. Your idea, however, is not bad. User uses command, W3 checks what hero he's using, and displays mech info about said hero. That's for another thread however :P

We can always add more info on this suggested panel, or via a command.

Everyone knows the information is available on the internet, but having it directly in-game would make it far more accesible. A link for "More info here: www.blabla.com" is not a bad idea thou,

But some NEWBIES may, like me. So, support.

Other things to add:

Evasion does not stack.
Movement Speed caps at 522. type -ms to find out current Movement Speed.
Most skill effects last shorter on a hero than a unit.
All % chance skills/items stack diminishingly.

(Add formula, which I believe was, 1st item=100% of proc %, 2nd item= 50% of proc %, 3rd item= 25% of proc item, 4th item= 12.5% of proc item, 5th item= 6.25% of proc item, 5th item=3.125% of proc %, 7th (skill)=1.52125% of proc%. Well, 1st would be skill, 2nd-6th would be items. But yeah)

FYI: The formula would work out to: Proc%/2*Order recieved.)

ppl playing dota since more than 1 years oftent doesn't know wich are typical builds and usages. For exemple in pub, 80%+ of destro take orb before astral and buy bloodstone early game (if they can, they beggin to feed fast, wich is so lame with the best lvl1 hero on paper). So I would not be surprise if some casuals don't understand difference between orb and buff placer...

Maybe the solution is to make a noob version with alt tab miniguide inside of the map. Should not take so much place and solves some issues. Or to write the adress of the site at game start. (playdota.com: guides/mechanisms/community)
