Default [Item Remake] Cranium Basher (for ranged)


So, I realized that Basher is pretty useless on ranged heroes. You might say it was designed like that for balance purposes, and I would understand... but I don't think any item should be completely *useless* in any situation. So here's my still-nerfed remake of Basher for ranged heroes.




Cranium Basher

Old Basher:

+30 damage
+6 Strength
Bash (passive)
  • Gives a 25% chance for melee heroes, and 10% chance for ranged heroes to bash on attack
  • Stuns for 1.4 seconds and deals 25 bonus damage
  • Has a 2 second cooldown
  • Does not function with other Cranium Bashers, Troll Warlord's Bash, Slithereen Guard's Bash, or Faceless Void's Time Lock

New Basher: (Changes in red)

(Recipe Unchanged)

+30 damage
+6 Strength
Bash (passive)
  • Gives a 25% chance for Bash (both ranged and melee)
  • Stuns for 1.4 seconds and deals 25 bonus damage
  • Has a 2 second cooldown, 3.4 for ranged.
  • Does not function with other Cranium Bashers, Troll Warlord's Bash, Slithereen Guard's Bash, or Faceless Void's Time Lock

Now its still nerfed and ranged heroes are less likely to bash, but without such a skimpy probability. Ranged heroes are more likely to get the item now, too. I see anytime that a hero is more likely to be used as a plus for DOTA.

I'd agree with everything besides the damage, 25 is fine. Most of the bash skills at lvl 4 are about 70'ish giving this about a lvl 2-3 bash damage which is a bit much.

T-down, even if I'm playing a ranged hero, sometimes I'm making Cranium (only if having high attack speed). It works very well, no need to change for me.

So basicly it was:

Low chance, Low coolodown.

Now its:

Big chance, Big cooldown.

If you like 2 : 2 = 1

or 4 : 4 = 1

Skill looks the same to me. T-Down. Range heroes shouldn't buy it at all!

Why should there be an item that half of the heroes should never get? I can understand attribute wise or in terms of orbs; but basher is an item that I don't even see melee heroes getting.

In terms of you 2:2 = 1/4:4 = 1, thats not that true. After the basher buff/anti-perma stun, it can no longer permastun, but its still useful and likely to bash otherwise. For range heroes though, having this high percentage would be ridiculous due to attack moving (weaver). You could attack move until you get a bash, move forward and then begin again once the cooldown was up. The higher cooldown but higher chance allows you to pull a bash off earlier on, but still maintaining roughly the same number of bashes overall as if you had a 10% chance if the fight lasted long enough.

i think you forgot to wrote "t-down".

anyway its good idea. its surely is more attractive with high chance and big cooldown. and i don't think it will impact balance much.

lol @ cphuja. i bet he wished there was one item per one hero so you don't have to think much what to buy.

Yes. I buy only boots solo mid with drow and take aura as first spell and autoattack.

If you want to quote me, better give some arguments instead of LOL I'm so fucking pro, he isn't, lal he is nap, he doesn't buy basher for drow haha.

T-Up, because this new Basher is usefull to stop channelings. Even if MKB is designed for stopping channelings, Bash is the better disable^^ And ranged Minibash with high chance is not that useful, because crit can't occur then iirc.

Even if it was 5 seconds for 40% I would still buy it,because you know what?It is "absusable" in range heroes..

T-down, perma bash is stupid, this item despite its cooldown allows it. If the chances to bash were the same I say the melee need a cd of 3.4 atleast and the ranged 4.4

Manta needs a remake too, thats a cruddy item unless you are already a hero that has images. Also, images dont bash but do a phantom bash, it appears over the targets head with no effect, they still move around and such. But yes even ranged can almost perma bash or even do so when they have fast attack speed at the current 10%

did u know the phantom bash makes the norm bash longer? i don't think so, btw i rather manta on agi heros than syy, i always get manta on sniper as an example

It's been a while im a little rusty but yeah I remember something about the image bash I would have to look it up again. Manta sucks though >.< . I wish it were changed, I mean especailly for the price you really dont get much.

I read somewhere that only a few heroes need to worry about fake bashes... but if I remembered wrongly and ANY image can score a fake bash, buying Basher for illusions is still a bad idea. Considering most illusion spells give at least 2 images, the chance of the hero's real bash prolonging the fake bash is at least twice as probable as the images prolonging a real bash. Both Manta and Basher are good items, just not really compatible with each other.

On to the actual topic... T-down.

Nothing wrong with items that all heroes cannot use, Ranged heroes cannot use Battlefury too remember, that's the price they pay for being able to hit enemies from afar.
