Default [scoreboard] improvment suggestion


Hi,

In my opinion it would be great to have statistic regarding noumber of spells used during the game for each hero presented on final scoreboard.

As u see i prepared example only for first hero - ofcourse idea is to do the same for all.
4 small icones reffering to each spell has been added - as also along to it noumber informing how many times each spell has been casted.

Im not insiting to put icons, we can also try to find better location for spell info - any other suggestions are welcomed - main target is just to have info how many times spells was casted.

pros
- its just statistic, knowlage never does harm
- it will help easier to judge particular hero
(for example if u see Lina used her ulti 2 times during whole game - u can be sure it was noob and there is no excuse; or if u see Trent placed 30 "eyes" its means such player just did his job very well)

cones
- more info on scoreboard makes it less readable
- there is few space - maybe we shoud keep it for something more important...

Same, it sounds great. Also coupled with competitive scene can be good info on if a certain hero is spmming too much and is imba? I dont, just trying to think of possible applications

There are people who play in 800x600 and 640x480, and it won't fit in there. Even if it fits, it will create massive mistakes.

Default Dear Cp6uja_ - u are wrong

Its not true that there gona be any problem on difrent resolutions.
In my example i have used same icon size for spells as for items - so if in lower resolutions icon size for items is big enough - why do u think there gona be something wrong with spells icons ?
Also suggested fonts are just the same as on the rest of the scoreboard.

Frankly speaking i write such long reply with example just because Cp6uja_ is "forum staff" - and frankly speaking im suprised that supervisor is writing such nonsens especialy when you criticize

Seems like a good idea. Not sure whether it will ever get any use outside of post-professional-game analysis but even if it is only useful in that situation, it is worthwhile, because this could provide a valuable insight into how a player might use different heroes, allowing for improvements in skill...T-up if it's codeable.

A LOT of programming hassle. I'm sorry to say that, but it won't get implemented probably.

All ultimates are already being registered, this is easy to do and makes better sense.

Nearly zero programming hazzle.
Maybe you know programs such as "Gexxos map script interpreter".
It will do it automatically for you, if you write a small macro.
Here is how it works:

You need a hashtable.
You need a trigger that is called everytime a hero casts a spell.
In triggeractions do:
call SaveInteger(GetHandleId(GetSpellAbilityUnit()), GetSpellAbilityId(), 1+LoadInteger(GetHandleId(unit), GetSpellAbilityId()))

Now use a Gexxos interpreter.
It can be told to run through every objektdata.
If this is a hero and nondummy (aka has no marker), then add the following code to function main().
(It adds the following as strings to the war3map.j)

call SaveInteger(*ID-of-current-hero*, *y-pos-of-spell*, *Id-of-spell-this-hero-can-learn*)
call SaveInteger(*ID-of-current-hero*, *y-pos-of-spell*, *Id-of-spell-this-hero-can-learn*)
call SaveInteger(*ID-of-current-hero*, *y-pos-of-spell*, *Id-of-spell-this-hero-can-learn*)
call SaveInteger(*ID-of-current-hero*, *y-pos-of-spell*, *Id-of-spell-this-hero-can-learn*)

[Make macro detect if y-pos is used twice, and if, then make it the lowest not-used number from 0 to 3 -> this is to prevent possible dual-use]

At scoreboardcreation simply recall the spellids of this hero and how often he used the spell.


This method can be used for all heroes except the following:
Heroes with more than four spells. (e.g. Nevermore, Invoker)
Heroes with *forgot name - spells based on the same thing as witchcraft*. (e.g. Krob, syllabaer)

Those heroes have to be done manually and may take some time.
Not too long, tough.

@OP: What is with invoker btw? You dont have space for his skills.
Show only the use of "Q,W,E, Invoke" or what?

Bump. This suggestion needs supporting IMO. This could be very useful for checking over professional games and debugging beta versions. Very good suggestion.

Sounds like good idea to me, but it still needs some thinking for heroes like Invoker etc. and it shouldn't take too much time to implement this.
