Lightbulb [NEUT-INT] MAC, Mobile Assault Crew | * 08/04/09

Alright boys and girls! Here's my newest creation. I'm looking for some help too, for all you graphics wizards, since I don't have the time, skill, or patience to use the world editor and take screenshots of what I'm proposing. If you want to help, please send me a PM, and I'll fill you in on the details. You will of course, get credit, and if you like this idea, you'll be one of the main reasons this bad boy breaks into the DotA universe.

To save scrolling/reading time, I will only display the most recent version of the changelog, the rest will be contained within the spoiler. With this update, I have (hopefully) made the hero less micro-intensive, more practical, and more viable later on in the game. I eagerly await your feedback.

YouSuckAtDotA PRESENTS:

MAC (Neutral – Intelligence.)
Fun name(s): MAC Daddy

Quote:
***PEWPEW***

LEVEL 1 Mobile Assault Crew

Known only as “MAC”, this brilliant, reclusive Dwarf has spent decades in isolation developing innovative weaponry and unconventional combat strategies. Over the years, MAC has gathered a dedicated group of followers, mercenaries that have sworn loyalty in exchange for the privilege of donning the most sophisticated battle gear. Highlights of his arsenal include mortar teams that fire concussive rounds, fast, unbreakable infantry lines and field medics. But most fear MAC's newest brain child, a gyrocopter that can transform into a siege engine. With the fate of Azeroth lying on the battlefield, MAC swears allegiance only to those with the fattest wallets that can fund his continued research.

Word count: 106.
OVERVIEW:

_______________________________________

19 + 1.2
28 + 1.6
23 + 2.9

- Reduces all hero cooldowns by 5 seconds. Increases all summoned unit hitpoints/movespeed/damage by 5 percent. Rounded up.

_______________________________________

ABILITIES:

Quote:
Deploy Mortar [T]eam.

Deploys a group of unarmored Mortar teams. Highly vulnerable, they rely on ranged bombardment with concussive rounds, which slow enemies in an 350 AoE. Stacks up to 4 times. Each stack lasts 4 seconds. Teams last for 11 seconds or until killed.

Level 1: Deploys 2 Mortar teams, 6% slow.
Level 2: Deploys 2 Mortar teams, 9% slow
Level 3: Deploys 3 Mortar teams, 9% slow.
Level 4: Deploys 3 Mortar teams, 12% slow.

Mana cost: 64/80/96/112
Cooldown: 40/35/30/25 (35/30/25/20)

Mortar team stats:

Hitpoints: 450(473)
Mana: N/A.
Armor type: Unarmored
Armor: 1.
Movespeed: 290(305)
Attack type: Physical.
Attack range: 700
Attack damage: 15-25(16-26)
Attack speed: Slow

Quote:
Concussion Grenades (Passive).

On impact, these grenades generate powerful vacuums, which deprive a small area of oxygen. The lack of oxygen disorients enemies, slowing them for a short amount of time.
-Any enemy within the 350 AoE will be slowed by the percentage indicated on the level of the ability.
-The slow is for 1 (ONE) attack of a Mortar Team unit.
-Additional attacks from the same Mortar Team, or other Mortar Teams, will provide additional slow, provided the debuff (stack time of 4 seconds) is still active, and will stack up to a maximum 4 times.
- The stack timer does NOT reset. Meaning that, if a unit is slowed for 3 seconds, and then hit with an additional attack, they will have the additional slow for 1 second, then revert back to the original slow.
_______________________________________

Quote:
Deploy M[e]dic.

Although the least technologically burdened of MAC's forces, they are nonetheless crucial members of the force. In addition to treating minor wounds, the medics have developed a variety of combat enhancing abilities. Higher levels add more hitpoints, and castable spells. Medics last for 12 seconds, or until killed.

Level 1: Deploys medic that can cast Lesser Healing Wave.
Level 2: Deploys 2 medics that can cast Lesser Healing Wave.
Level 3: Deploys 2 medics that can cast Lesser Healing Wave, Inner Fire.
Level 4: Deploys 3 medics that can cast Lesser Healing Wave, Inner Fire.

Mana cost: 90/100/110/120
Cooldown: 45/40/35/30 (40/35/30/25)
Medic Stats:

Hitpoints: 325/375/425/475 (342/394/447/499)

Quote:
Lesser Healing Wav[e]

The medic releases a wave of energy that heals a friendly unit, and bounces to nearby allies. Heals primary target for 40, each bounce heals for 5 less. Bounces 4 times.

Mana cost: 75
Cooldown: 6

-Thus heals a total of 5 (FIVE) targets.
-Heals primary target for 40, and additional targets for 35, 30, 25, 20 HP respectively.
Quote:
Inner [F]ire(Autocast)

Unleashes a unit's inner warrior, increasing damage by 10% and armor by 3. Lasts for 10 seconds.

Manacost: 50
Cooldown: 3

-Self explanatory.
-Can be dispelled.

Quote:
Deploy Sol[d]iers

Deploys a group of fast, heavily armored mercenaries. Has the ability Alarum, which gathers all soldiers nearby, and grants them resistance to attacks. Soldiers last for 15 seconds or until killed.

Level 1: Deploys 2 soldiers
Level 2: Deploys 3 soldiers
Level 3: Deploys 4 soldiers
Level 4: Deploys 5 soldiers.

Manacost: 100/120/140/160
Cooldown: 30 (25)

Soldier Stats:

Hitpoints: 500(525)
Mana: N/A
Armor type: Heavy
Armor: 6
Movespeed: 355(373)
Attack type: Physical.
Attack range: 120 (melee)
Attack damage: 35-40(37-42)
Attack speed: Average

Quote:
Ala[r]um

Instilled with undying loyalty, soldiers can call upon their brethren to join them in battle. All other soldiers move with increased movespeed toward the calling soldier. Upon reaching the calling soldier, they take a defensive stance, reducing all physical damage taken from the front by 90%, but also reduces attack speed by 25%.

Cooldown: 15

-"Front" is defined as 90 degrees to the left or right of the direction the soldier is facing. (180 degrees, the entire front).
- All soldiers will run with +40 MS towards the calling soldier.
- The calling soldier immediately shows the defend animation.
- Each soldier that arrives at the calling soldier will then lose the movespeed, and then show the defend animation.
- Each soldier can individually told to return to normal stance using the "Stand Down" orders.
Quote:
S[t]and Down

Stops a soldier from running to an Alarum call, and/or deactivates the defensive stance.

Cooldown: 0.

- Self explanatory.
- I would have chosen the ladder (stop defend) icon, but this looks cooler.

Quote:
Transform into Devastato[r]

MAC's gyrocopter has been designed to transform into an advanced prototype siege engine. A combination of strength and power, the Devastator deals high damage to buildings. Has magic immunity, a passive truesight, regenerative armor, and a mounted turret that can fire a single long-range warhead that deals damage in an AoE. MAC's normal abilities are disabled in this form. Each level improves armor, hitpoints, damage, regeneration, and duration. 2 second cast time.

Level 1: Lasts for 12 seconds, 900 HP, 10 armor.
Level 2: Lasts for 18 seconds, 1200 HP, 15 armor.
Level 3: Lasts for 24 seconds, 1500 HP, 20 armor.

Manacost: 250/350/450
Cooldown: 120 (115)

- MAC'S Stats (Strength/Agility/Intelligence/Armor/Movespeed/Damage/etc.) are disregarded in this form. They are set at the amounts listed in the "Devastator Stats".
- All items are disabled in this form
Devastator Stats:

Hitpoints: 900/1200/1500
Mana: N/A
Armor type: Fortified
Armor: 10/15/20
Movespeed: 320
Attack type: Siege
Attack range: 800
Attack damage: 60/90/120
BAT: 2.3

Quote:
Infrared Combat Umbilicus (ICU). (Passive)

The Devastator is equipped with a rotating scope that detects body heat, rendering invisibility useless. The scope can only detect body heat within a small arc, but rotates counter-clockwise 360 degrees. Has a range of 800. Completes one rotation every 3 seconds.

- It's almost like Radar. Basically, a small section of a circle is visible on your screen. In this section you have truesight. This section rotates counter-clockwise, completing a full circle every 3 seconds.
Quote:
Stable Core (Passive)

The Devastator's power core generates an electrostatic forcefield, granting complete immunity to Magic.

- This includes friendly spells.
Quote:
Automated Repair (Passive)

The Devastator is constructed of materials that can self-repair over time.

Level 1: Grants +4 hp/second regeneration.
Level 2: Grants +8 hp/second regeneration.
Level 3: Grants +12 hp/second regeneration.

-Self explanatory.
-The icons are for levels 1/2/3 of the skill, respectively.
-I need passive icons for these.

Quote:
The Equali[z]er.

The devastator is outfitted with a mounted turret, that can fire a single, long range warhead. The Equalizer deals 2/4/6% max HP pure damage to all units in a 500 AoE. The initial explosion triggers a secondary device which deals the total of all damage dealt from the first blast to all enemies in that AoE. Surviving units are affected by Fallout, which has a 25% chance to silence for 0.5 seconds, every second, for 3/4/5 seconds. 3000 range.
Cooldown: 9999 (cooldown is reset when you re-transform.)

***I am looking for a very very innovative graphics master to assist me with a gorgeous animation for this beast.***

-Activating this skill brings up an AoE target. (Similar to Toss/Rocket Flare/Etc.)
-You can target anywhere within 3000 range.
- It deals 5% of a target's maximum hp, in damage, to each target, respectively. (i.e., a creep with 530 max health will take 11/22/32 damage, but a hero with 1000 hp will take 20/40/60 damage.
- Say you hit 3 heroes with 1000 hp, and 4 creeps with 530 hp. You will deal a total of 3(20/40/60) + 4(11/22/32) = 104/208/308 damage. The secondary blast deals 104/208/308 damage (in this scenario) to those units. (Physical)
- All surviving units are affected by a debuff, Fallout, which has a 25% chance to silence for 0.5 seconds, every second, for 3/4/5 seconds. (Max of 0.5 seconds per second)

SYNERGIES:

_______________________________________

Abilities:

+

Mortars are unarmored. They're your primary slow and support unit. Keep them alive and give them some armor, and your army is tough to kill.

+

Use the mortar teams to slow your enemies. Your fast moving soldiers can over take them, dealing damage, and then surround them with Shield Wall, trapping them in place.

+

Casting Outer Flame on your soldiers will give them an INSANE amount of movespeed, making it incredibly easy to outrun your opponents. Surround them quickly, trap them, while they take damage from the Immolation. Are they trying to break free? Keep them healed with Lesser Healing Wave.

++

The ultimate. Slow your enemies, speed up your soldiers, and trapping becomes a breeze. Heal your entire army, and cast Inner Fire on nearby units to do some good damage to the enemy!

+++

Slow and surround your enemies, making targeting the Devastators active weapon with ease. Get 2-3 heroes EASILY, for a quick, devastating blow to their forces.

_______________________________________

Items:

_______________________________________

SCEPTER: Decreases all your cooldowns by 5 seconds. Gives you decent stats. All your units are buffed slightly as well.

EULS: You get to move faster, and avoid those nasty ganks. In addition, toss an enemy up in the air for an easy setup with your soldiers.

MEKANSM: A passive regen aura and activatable heal for your army. Complete your roll as a support hero. GET THIS ITEM!

GUINSOOS: Okay this one is obvious. It gives you damage. It gives you mana regen, and most of all, it gives you the power of the sheep! Surround that helpless critter and pummel them to DEATH!

SHIVAS: A Wonderful AoE slow, and armor! Need I say more?

NECROBOOK: An advanced item, if you can control these guys on top of your army, you'll have an endurance aura, AND a manaburn to boot. Gives you some HP and damage, too!.

_______________________________________

Heroes:

I have taken my top 3 picks in Strength, Agility, and Intelligence, with a brief explanation why. This doesn't mean there aren't MORE heroes that MAC could synergize with, it's just a small taste

STR -

AGI -

INT -
_______________________________________

PITLORD - AoE mastery at it's finest. The setup is simple. Pit/Fire/Expulsion, followed by slows from your mortar teams, and an Equalizer from you in Devastator form. Any hero(es) caught in this combo is going to be hurting, or better still, dead.

TREE - When things get tough, hide! Better still, have all your units go invisible, and then tree pops his ult. You pop yours, proceed with anal pillaging.

MAGNUS - With all those units sucked together into this teeny little spot, they will all get slowed by your Mortar teams. You can even trap multiple heroes with your soldiers, and hit your Equalizer with ease.

VENGEFUL - You can have some fun with this. Surround vengeful with soldiers, have her swap an enemy hero in. Or you can use the more conventional stuns, but either way, you're doing well. Plus, her command aura gives all your units damage.

VOID - Really, it's just for the ult. In Devastator form, you have very long range, so do your Mortars. Anyone that survives the permabash is going to be quite sad when they realize they're still going to perish.

NAGA SIREN - Net. Surround. Pummel. Things don't go so well? Sleep.

ENIGMA - A decent stun, AoE excellence. A good black hole and midnight pulse (combined with your ultimate, and/or Mortars) will rape any hero foolish enough to get caught.

BANE - The reason he's here is because he's going to keep you alive against tough teams. Enfeebles the dpsers so you can survive in tank form. Sleeps the disablers, and Fiend's grip for the offense.

CM - She has a nice rack. In addition to eye candy, she has a direct, easy to cast slow, and disable, that will make setup with your troops a breeze. If she lands an ult, yours will be the...ICE-ing on the cake.

Okay shitty pun. Sue me.

Woo, Meepo is no Micro against this hero.

Sorry, I can't review this.

While the Medic is too weak, the Devastator is way too strong.

That's anything I can say ATM.

I'll have to take a closer look at this later.

The Devastator is too powerful and has to be changed one missile with an enemy hero at a low percentage could literally destroy any push and with only a 120 second cooldown , pending a fix to Devastator, I also have a hard time seeing late game potential for this hero. Cleave is also going to be way to much of a pain for this hero. I like the idea a lot though! Got micro? XD

When I release v 1.02 (soon), it will include the ROLE: Offensive support/pusher.

Pushers aren't meant to be late game. He's a support.

And besides. If you're pushing with your team at like 10% life (unless you are TB/Huskar) WTF are you doing?

Pay the price for your decisions.

EDIT: I could consider removing the damage aspect of the equalizer...which would essentially make it an AoE-pseudo sunder (with no benefits)...

Meh. It's still early.

I should have explained more, what I mean to say is if that when an opposite team is pushing this ability makes it so that only one hero has to be focused upon for the downfall of the whole.

Although role clarifications definitely allow me to see more of a late game for this hero, he will be a great chase buddy with those priests.

Yeah good timing might screw the whole team.

Will strongly consider nerfing the AoE...and damage mechanism. Meh. Look for updates next day or two.

Perhaps it could be changed to a fixed percentage of maximum health? I was also thinking you could have it have a Jakiro-esque ground immolation effect as well, or perhaps tack on a silence to give this an edge in case the damage isn't as nice as one would hope. I'm not sure, but just some ideas running through my had. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Do you mean 325 hp? For the medic Don't worry...The concept is rock solid. It's the numbers (and devastator.. ) that's giving me problems.

As i told the previous generous reviewer, wait for the next day or two, when I add some more content

Hmm. Yeah I meant 325.

I like the outer flame. Reminds me a druids skill in World of Warcraft.

I think I'm in love. But there's too much going on. You're going to have to simplify this.

The main problem is this: who is the hero? The following questions come to mind.
-How do I kill this hero?
-Why does he never do anything himself?
-He kicks ass.

The first two will be your problem because as it is now, this is not one hero, but four (you don't even have hero stats). I'd suggest this.

Quote:
Mobile Assault Crew, the MAC

Known only as “MAC”, this brilliant, reclusive Dwarf has spent decades in isolation developing innovative weaponry and unconventional combat strategies. Over the years, MAC has gathered a dedicated group of followers, mercenaries that have sworn loyalty in exchange for the privilege of donning the most sophisticated battle gear. Highlights of his arsenal include mortar teams that fire concussive rounds, fast, unbreakable infantry lines, and supportive field medics. Most deadly however, is not MAC's ability to call upon his army, but his willingness to lead the vanguard in his Devastator. With the fate of Azeroth lying on the battlefield, MAC swears allegiance only to those with the fattest wallets that can fund his continued research.
Pretty much the same, except this. The ultimate transforms MAC into the Devastator, rather then summoning it.

MAC is the hero, and his 3 summons are simply his abilities. His ultimate should be durational. Infrared Combat Umbilicus and Self Repair are passives so they won't need to be listed, and The Equalizer can replace the 'Devastator' button.

At the moment, if I saw him on the battle field, I wouldn't know what to hit to kill him because the actual hero doesn't seem to be there.

Not my fault you can't understand English.

Awesome! I really like the remake of the Devastator T-Up! I love the concept I just am wary of how he'll do, I'd like to see implementation before I can say to much more.

One quick thing though, I noticed the priests have a health progression, would you maybe want to implement this into the other summoned units as well?

Are you saying it's imbalanced (hence why we still tweak numbers)...

PS. I'll review your suggestion soon. It looks interesting...don't get disappointed.

All four abilities being summons seems a bit too into it's gimmick.

Why not give him some way of being useful in himself? Make him work with the summons, rather than just having them work for him?

Otherwise he just has two many summons, with active abilities. using MAC would be even more of a different game than using Techies ever was, and that's pretty big.

This isn't a DotA hero atm. If you cut it down to two summoning powers (and made all summon abilities passive/autocast) though, it could be.

And the reason it throws off the balance isn't numbers. The hero is too different to be balanced easily. Like old Gambler

Very, very unique. One of the suggestions that I actually liked for creativity, and that almost never happens.

First two skills are fine.

Third skill is weird. It's like Clockwerk's skill, but it cannot be destroyed from the inside so that the hero could run. Unless this spells disables upon movement, it's like a lousy prison.

Forth skill is, like they say, a bit overpowered. But I seriously have no idea how you should fix this problem.
