Your icon is definitely cool. Looks good. Matches skill and hero. BUUUUUT it takes away from the color scheme currently in place. Another skill would need to be changed for it to look as great as it does now.

the original and something similar to this

That icon looks pretty terrible. The original icon looks crisp and clear, your proposed icon is damn mess, with tons of fluorescent-green wriggly stuff in the background.

Also, monochromatic iconsets suck, so T-down.
