Default [Hero] Centuar Warchief


Problem: underused tanker, quite boring, need dagger to be useful, not offensive enough to get enemy will focus on you (like BB and Udy)
The recent change on Return make him harder to farm in early game.
So, tell me why we pick Centaur as a tank in the team? Because the stun? or the HP from Great Fortitude?


Before we start, take a look at this:

Hoof Stomp vs Slithereen Crush
stun: 2.75 vs 2.5
damage: 250 vs 200
AOE: 315 vs 350
slow: 0 vs 2
CD: 15 vs 8 <- SG able to land 2 stuns already.
manacost: 130 vs 115
synergy: n/a vs Sprint

Movement Speed : 300 -> 315

- Slithereen Crush has 350 aoe, slow for 2 sec after stun, 8 seconds cooldown; so I buff the AOE and cooldown of Hoof Stomp.

- Centaur has average ms and doesn't has a chasing ability.
- 250 charging range is very short only, it require to get near the target.
- I don't like dagger as core item on any hero (especially ES, blocking enemy with Fissure should be the way and fun part to play ES, not blink-Echo-Fissure-Totem-omg pro triple kill-nah)

Centaur is fine as it is, actually he's my favorite Tank hero

and your Double Edge is way too powerful...

you gank an enemy with this, stun him and crush his ass

dagger would be useless and DotA wouldn't be the same with a dagger-less cent

You mean Centaur will be way too powerful with dagger which has 1100 blink range?

Centaur is not fine as it is.

adding a charge effect to double edge would ruin centaur's whole concept. his shit needs to be hard to land.

its weak, but the gameplay is supposed to be hard to land and when you land it it really hurts. it needs some kinda tweak to add effectiveness when u hit it.

i dislike dagger on initiator heroes, its not really even good. its better as a positioning tool for heroes that need it.

but yeah, it needs to be hard to land. its just balanced bad as it doesnt give you anything for landing it successfully.

Yes, dagger ruin heroes concept. (look at ES)
All Centaur can do in game is dagger->stun->being ignore, cant chase down low hp enemy.

My purpose for this remake is remove dagger as core item from him, make him more offensive.
Lower cd, bigger aoe for Hoof Stomp
400 charge range (it's only 400, very short) on Double Edge
Increase his MS to 310

well actually ES concept is built around dagger. just look at his ult. was gonna mention that but somehow forgot.

yeah, but your remake would remove his early game coolness with stomp and double edge. i support the idea of removing dagger as his core but i would greatly prefer doing it by changing return to a charge ability, not his nuke. also a targeted charge is very bad for his gameplay (since its built around landing the stun).

saw the comparison with Sladar stun?
Sladar's stun has 350 AOE 2.5 sec stun, 2 sec slow afterwards, 8 seconds cooldown, 115 mana, easy to land with Sprint.

Look at Centaur?

But that is because slad doesnt have another nuke, he is a chaser with 2 skills that make him ideal for his purpose. the comparison is very poor... Centaur purpose is to tank and initate, which we can do very well with blink dagger and bots/phase. i see no reason to change probably one of the best combos in the game. If anything, return and his ult need a conceptual remake. but these 2 skills are fine as is.

Double Edge is unique and fits the theme, all he need is a chasing ability (since he is a horse) and a tweak for him to land his stun more easier.

I agree about the hoof stomp. t-up

Buffing the double edge is not a bad idea, but i'd suggest to add some splashing aoe damage to it, so that is would be more fun.

Another buff that Centaur really needs is his attack range from 100 --> 125 due to his size.
