I proved my point that lightning is part of the shaman's theme (lightning shield / purge) and the Farseer's (chain lightning)

I was merely pointing out the facts and the Shadow SHAMAN fits the lightning controlling theme perfectly.

Your arguement however fails with no logic. First you say Farseers don't have a lightning spell, then you make fun of me for pointing out Chain lightning.

You're point is that in the warcraft lore orc shamans tend to use lightning offensively. While this does fit the theme of a shaman, Trolls are not Orcs. They also sometimes worship Voodoo spirits instead of Elemental Spirits. This is also a Shamanistic belief. Keep in mind that DotA is not Warcraft. It is loosely based on Warcraft. It does not have to follow the strict rules.

I think you are not reading my writing carefully and filling in the blanks for me at your own convenience.

I'm sorry you don't like to check the aesthetics of a hero but that's not my problem.

Yup Farseer's do have control over lightning as well (chain lightning and their default projectile - lightning ball)

Though it wouldn't hurt to have Rhasta have that yellow looking lightning. I think its a good flavor for his color scheme and skill animation color.

Warcraft = DotA
Dota is an alternate Universe with it's own unique time-line, but it's still in the world of warcraft.
Don't get me wrong i'd love to change Forked Lightning into something more fitting of a "voodoo shadowhunter/shaman".

But tacking on a different tint on a lightning animation isn't what's going to solve anything. All you got now is a yellow lightning.

I personally believe there is no problem, since shamans can harness the energies of the elements, but if i were to implement a change into Forked Lightning, i would definitely try to think of a voodoo themed attack.
Keep in mind he is a shaman, not a witch doctor and the lightning fits his theme and its very logical.

"Ancient Magic" just doesn't cut it for me, I'd rather keep it the same.

I hope this picture helps us brainstorm a more interesting and flavourful attack if we were to think of a new animation.

The reason to change the lightning to Orange is to preserve the orange theme in Rhasta's skill. It could have just been easily change to a different lightning effect such as Healing Wave (actually this would look good). That part doesn't really matter. The point is to cosmetically improve Rhasta without changing the mechanics.

DotA deviates quite a bit from Warcraft. I don't think Thor and Mjolnir could arguable exist in the World of Warcraft.

you're quite right zirath, your point is quite correct, i can't much argue with Thor or Mjollnor.

But that's beside the point, if the animation is lightning, might as well keep it lightning color. It's cosmetically appealing to have it normal.

Your suggestions (tinting of lightning + healing wave) are actually pretty damn sweet The lightning looks much more defined and Healing Wave as the lightning effect might look really good.

I really appreciate you trying your best to support this suggestion! I have reported the spam and hopefully, a mod would do something about those unrelated posts.

PPS: There could also be the possibility of making Rhasta conjure a temporary serpent that attacks multiple units, but I doubt it would work/look very nice.

I really like this! Rhasta has always been like this "warm" hero to me. And this has been kept away by the white chain lightning. Excellent! T-up!

I've already put my sword away (so to speak).

@Zack: Thanks. I'm actually taking the GREs today; if you want I can play with the World Editor and make a small test map for a new "Forked Lightning" effect sometime tomorrow.

shamans can have a lightning spell, it's perfectly logical.

Erm, that wasn't Icefrog. Guinsoo made Rhasta in 5.XX.

Rhasta doesn't have the very harsh killing feel that Zeus, Lion and Lina do. He kills you softly with his wards.

Just got done with GREs; I have a couple ideas for complete animations. Hopefully I'm done by Friday.

But in no way does Rhasta kill you softly.
Yes, his wards gives him damage over time while he shackles which may seem "soft", but that's why his nuke is an instant "ZAP!" to finish off his fleeing foes.

I still don't understand why you think lightning should be everywhere. Tell Icefrog to make Dagon have the Chain Lightning effect or something, since you love lightning.

Meh, if you want the Ward summoning Rhasta to become a Jedi/Sith, create your own map, and create a Jedi/Sith hero that uses loads of lightning.

Lightning, as Zirath kindly pointed out, is meant as a "super-chain-epic-3-second-ownage". Rhasta doesn't do this, he is more passive compared to other nukers IMO.

Irregardless, I can assure you that I will find something that will convince you, it just takes time.
