Default The Suggestions Review Thread

The Suggestions Review Thread:
Welcome PD community and fellow DotA suggestion creators. We are proud to present the Suggestions Reviewing Thread. The only Group right now that delivers quality reviews and discussion on your own suggestion.

*We are a group. We do not want to be referred to as a committee or a list.

What We Do:
We are here, the SRT, to accomplish these missions/goals:

• The primary goal is to have a system that focuses more on the improving of suggestions through review and discussion.
• Another goal is to shift away from a very high quantity suggestions to fewer but more manageable quality ideas.

Basically, we help out those members from the suggestions forum to create a more logical, creative and unique works that will enlighten the communities potential for DotA itself If you are interested in helping out follow the rubric below.

How to Join:
To join the SRT, you need of nothing important but your determination and desire to reach out to the suggestions. Follow the rubric below when signing up.

Quote:
Name:
Specific Field of Specialization: (Hero/Item/Remake/Visual/Other/etc)
Reason why you want to join:
Once you've filled up the form and posted below, you will be added to the list. Note that the list below has links to the user's profile, from there, you can send a Private Message to them, you can send to multiple recipients, just as long as they are in the respective category of specialization.

Members of the Group:
Listed from their categories; oldest members to the newest. (Open the spoiler to reveal the categories) [*] denotes Inactive, to remove the denotation, just PM me to take you out.

Quick PM List for the week:
Note that you can still PM the regular members on the list, this quick PM list is only for those who have little time to spare and to give our other SRT members a chance. There are 8 users on this list at a time; Updated: 8/17/2010

Rules:
There aren't much rules. Just keep your requesting simple, don't post in this thread, just use the power of Private Messaging. Only users who want to sign up or have special requests can sign up here.

And please do... Use the Private Messaging rather than the Visitor Message, as not to spam.

Please do also tell if you have changed your name, give me a PM and I'll rename your old name to your new one.

Other Projects:
The Suggestions Review Thread also come together at times to create and collaborate for an output of more than a few members for a super collab hero. Our hero collaboration are still in development, and if you are part of the Suggestions Review Thread, you may help us out, but members that aren't can also join in too. These are just one of the better perks of being a member of the SRT, group activities and collaborations.

Projects:

Final Word:
Now go off, fulfill your duties and let's help out the community. If you want to remove yourself from the SRT, just say so, everything is flexible here.

Now, join the S.R.T social group. All members of this group are gratefully welcomed.

The S.R.T Group

Please report if anything is in disorder, especially the links are broken.

And by the way, add this new tag so people will know that you ARE a member of this community.

I personally want to join but I tend to not review at all when I don't find anything interesting in the one I'm going to review. I'll think about it .

Think about it well.

Then we will make their heroes interesting by giving them feedback and ways to improve.

If you feel that it is "hidden", then advertise it :P

@Nothing

Actually, people may ask for reviews in it, and are doing so...

Yes. Even i did, .

But the reason for this thread is for those people who don't know who to PM. Now that they can see who to PM, they'll have more options, don't you think?

Can we request to sticky this?

But how do we assure quality of reviews given by this committee's members? I think that's important as well but I might be getting too serious now XD.

I think this is a good idea.

Except for three things.

1. It should be a Discussion committee. Even, Suggestions Discussion Committee.

2. You should include in your mission statement the following points. They were the two goals set out by Icefrog according to how he wants the new forum to work.
- The primary goal is to have a system that focuses more on the debates and discussions of ideas.
- Another goal is to shift away from a very high quantity suggestions to fewer but more manageable quality ideas.

3. You should have a load limit of the reviewer's choosing, assigning requests randomly to the reviewers in accordance to their preferred load.

If these 3 points are included, I would like to join.

EDIT: Klok, what KingJames has in mind is very different to your group. Putting them together will create an elitist culture. I heavily advise from doing so.

Well maybe we can get a template for reviewing. That way we can balance things out.

What i do is usually add all the scores up and divide them by how many sub-columns there are.

Skill 1, Skill 2, Skill 3, Skill 4, Synergy (divided)/5 = Overall Score

Let's just hope those who want to review give some quality reviews.

To the sticky part, i have no power.... . But let's hope.

@notveryclever
Sure thing.

I think notveryclever gave a very good rationale for the group. I suggest coming up with a set of "guide questions" instead of a rubric for rating the hero.

I think you guys are going about this wrong. Don't think of it as reviewing, as much as discussing. Giving scores is how the old system worked, and failed. Simply discuss, and if a suggestion meets what you think validates a great suggestion, simply put into a statement your support - don't vote.

It's important we don't stray back to how it used to work. Discussion is key here.

EDIT: We're all posting at the same time. I'm going to reply Klok and Chad now, then take a few minutes away before replying again. I advise the others to do the same..

Klok, an elitist culture is created when a group of people monopolize something (in this case, the suggestions forum) and thus have higher access to certain rights (reviews, opinions, creation tools, etc). The review section with this Creater's Guild will ultimately create an 'I scratch your back, you scratch mine' idiom that ruins everything we're working for.

A Creater's guild is a good idea - it produces decent suggestions. But a reviewers club MUST be a separate entity to keep a check on the elitist group (which a Creater's Guild ultimately is).

This wins. I think I can extract one or two questions from Icefrog's opening post that we can use in this guide to questioning.

Yeah. I know, I'm currently having an idea in mind. If you have any suggestion too sure.

Rubric:

Do the abilities fit the theme and/or model, and why/why not?:
Do the abilities synergize well? Why/why not?:
Is the hero fun to play? Why/why not?:
If you could improve the hero in any way, how would you do so?:

@Klok

I personally don't want to dwell too much on cosmetics because most things in that line is fairly negotiable so getting the compatibility of things with the theme is kind of meh.

On another note, do remember that the "guide questions" should encourage discussion more than anything else.
