Default [IMPLEMENTED]-[Tooltips] Random Tooltip Fixes

Kudos for linkyaw for cleaning up the suggestion.

Zeus the Lord of Olympia (Should be Olympus)

Lightning Bolt

Quote:
Summons a bolt of lightning from the heavens to strike a target enemy. The bolt also causes a mini-stun and reveals nearby
Suggestion:
Quote:
Summons a bolt of lightning from the heavens to strike a target enemy. The bolt deals magic damage, causes a mini-stun and grants a True Sight effect around the bolt for 3 seconds.

- Mentions the mini-stun that isn't explained.
- Mentions the True Sight effect.
Thundergod's Wrath

Quote:
Strikes down all enemy heroes with a bolt of lightning.
Suggested:
Quote:
Strikes down all enemy heroes with a bolt of lightning. Each bolt inflicts magic damage and grants True Sight around every lightning-struck target for 3 seconds. If a target happens to be invisible, the target will still be revealed but won't suffer any damage.

- Explains the True Sight effect.
- Mentions the special circumstance involving invisible heroes.
Shendelzare Silkwood the Vengeful Spirit

Wave of Terror

Quote:
Shendelzare lets loose a wicked cry, terrorizing enemy units. Their armor and damage are reduced.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Shendelzare lets loose a wicked cry, terrorizing enemy units with a wave that grants vision as it travels toward a point. The wave deals minor damage and decreases the armor and damage of foes for 20 seconds.

- Explains all aspects of the skill, including the vision of the wave.
- Mentions the duration of the negative effects.
Nether Swap

Quote:
Instantaneously swaps positions with a target.
Suggestion (Correct on the forums but no in the actual game)
Quote:
Instantaneously swaps positions with a target Hero.

Huskar the Sacred Warrior

Life Break

Quote:
Huskar reaches into the well of his own life force to heavily damage an enemy. The target takes damage equal to 50% of its hp. Slows target by 50% for 5 seconds. Huskar pays a certain percentage of his hp to cast this.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Huskar reaches into the well of his own life force to heavily damage an enemy. The target takes damage equal to 50% of its current hp. Slows target by 50% for 5 seconds. Huskar pays a certain percentage of his hp to cast this.

- Just threw in the word current for clarity's sake, mainly because the current tooltip is ambiguous.
Slardar the Slithereen Guard

Amplify Damage (This name really sucks BTW.)

Quote:
Amplifies physical damage against enemy units by reducing their armor.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Amplifies physical damage against enemy units by reducing their armor. This curse also provides True Sight and vision of the target. Lasts 30 seconds.

- Mentions the vision effect of the spell and the duration.
Rooftrellen the Treant Protector

Nature's Guise

Quote:
Changes a target friendly unit's appearance so that it blends in with the forest. It becomes invisible to enemy eyes, but it must remain near a tree, or the Guise is lost.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Changes a target friendly unit's appearance so that it blends in with the forest. It becomes invisible to enemy eyes, but it must remain near a tree, or the Guise is lost. Rooftrellen will not break his own invisibility while casting spells while under this spell's effect.

- Added in the special exception of Rooftrellen not losing his invisibility while using spells under the guise's effect.
Living Armor

Quote:
Magically creates an armor of vines around a friendly unit, protecting it from harm and healing wounds.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Magically creates an armor of vines around a friendly unit or structure, protecting it from harm and healing wounds.

- Added in the tidbit about being able to place armor on buildings.
Leviathan the Tidehunter

Kraken Shell

Quote:
Creates a thick armor shell around Leviathan that protects him against attacks. Additionally, this ability removes negative buffs when he has taken significant damage.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Creates a thick armor shell around Leviathan that protects him against attacks. Additionally, this ability removes negative buffs when he has taken significant damage. This passive's blocking effect does not stack with Stout Shield, Poor Man's Shield or Vanguard.

- This one is seriously needed. Too many players get stout-based items on Tidehunter and therefore waste too much gold
Krobelus the Death Prophet

Exorcism

Quote:
Unleashes evil spirits to attack your enemies.
Suggestion:
Quote:
Unleashes evil spirits to attack your enemies. Spirits do 43-48 hero type damage. After the spell ends, the spirits will heal Krobelus for 25% of the damage dealt by them, up to a maximum of 1000. Lasts 30 seconds.

- Added in information from the forum about the spirits' extra characteristics that aren't even mentioned in the tooltip.

I like ALL your suggestions... but maybe clean up the display?

Maybe like underlines or use
Quote:
quotes
And for Warnings like Tide's Kraken, should include it in RED so it looks like the "Orb Effects Do Not Stack" warning.

Yeah, I fully agree with this suggestion.

But I can imagine a potential argument against this: doing this for all the heroes would unncessarily fill up all the tooltips with too much detailed information. I don't think most people want to read a lot when looking at a skill :/

Sand Kings and AA ultimates have important knowledge left out of their descriptions too.

Namely the way that their aoe's work.

The fatal bonds description.

Bonds several enemy units together, causing 15% of the damage dealt to any of them to be partially felt by the others.

As far as I know, 15% of the damage is fully felt by the other enemies bonded, not partially.

The thing is that more information would be better than less. Using Zeus' Lightning Bolt as an example again, many players don't happen to know that the skill does do a mini-stun and the True Sight effect. And because the tooltip is so plainly worded, not including the information does not make sense.

Longer tooltips are not necessarily bad, but only if the tooltip isn't filled with too much fluff. Some tooltips use too much fluff that the real hard facts of the moves are buried.

Ya, there are plenty of other tooltips out there that don't mention enough essential information.

I just think that the guessing game from moves should be eliminated. There is a difference from having people figure out tricks with skills as opposed to being left in the dark with the important information.

Well, good idea, but I think we need a complete skill description revamp.

T-UP ofc

btw, there are few lesser bugs in descriptions, like useless extra line feeds (Lich - Dark Ritual, Dark Seer - Surge)

Unfortunately, all the proposed tooltips are a lot more wordy, which makes it harder to tell at a glance what a skill essentially does. It would be nice if you could summarise the spell's effects in the first sentence and then have any flavour-related nonsense as well as extra tidbits of info in the subsequent sentences.

Only 1 block can occur, and Kraken Shell has a 100% chance to proc, so there's no chance for the other block to occur. Although if you get the shield after Kraken Shell, it works... as in, if you can arrange the order so it checks the shield first, then it checks Kraken...

arrrggghhh, here have a proper guide to Damage Blocking.

I do realize that some of the information can get wordy at times. Ideally, all the tooltips should be streamlined into well-written descriptions, while still being informative. I just think that the essential information should be mentioned first, and further improvements can be made later.

The stacking is basically so nonexistent that you might as well not count it. The stout-based items are wasted on Tidehunter.

It wouldn't hurt to mention the damage type. For example, a lot of people don't realize that Slardar's Slithereen Crush is physical damage. We can't assume all people are going to flock to the forums to check this stuff, so why not just have it all there for the player?
