INTRODUCTION

Summon Medivh

When Medivh delivered his news to the great young warchief, he sought away from the dark magic of psychological depression and sought focus on the spiritual essence of vitality. It was under banishment from his fellow people that allowed him to continue his process of transformation into an Iron Maiden. As time passed, his abilities grew unmatched, bonding his spiritual nature for the good of mankind and sacrificing endured pain for the fate of his friends. But what's most unique about this once-psychic, is that he is able to fathom the pain of his comrades, not only banishing the Scourge, but their agony away.

HERO ABILITIES

Spiritual Link

Medivh connects the very essence of his allies together to share each others pain.

Level 1 - Divides 15% of incoming damage equally on up to 5 allied units.
Level 2 - Divides 20% of incoming damage equally on up to 5 allied units.
Level 3 - Divides 25% of incoming damage equally on up to 5 allied units.
Level 4 - Divides 30% of incoming damage equally on up to 5 allied units.

If an affected allied unit falls below 100 hit points, Spiritual Link is automatically debuffed.

A play on Warlock's Fatal Bonds, except on your allies in a basic sense. The more units that share Spiritual Link, the less damage they will take as a whole. But with less units sharing Spiritual Link, the more damage each individual unit will take.

It seems that some are having trouble understanding what this means, but the key word is equally. Say at level 4, you link 5 units together for 30% division. This means that the initally attacked unit takes 70 + 6 = 76% of the incoming damage, while the other 4 units take 6% damage as it is divided equally (30 / 5 = 6). This damage division changes with less units being linked decreasing its overall effectiveness.

Quote:
Here is an equation for who gets what damage:

Initial Damage Taker = ( 100% - Level %) + ( Level % / # of units linked )

Linked Units Damage Taken = ( Level % / # of units linked )

However, 100% is the damage that occurs after reductions of spell resistance and armor.
Damage is divided after reductions
Duration is 20 seconds
Casting Range is 500
Jumping Range is 350
Damage Disipation Type is Magical

Cooldown: 25 Seconds All Levels
Mana Cost: 120 All Levels
__________________________________________________

Iron Maiden

Medivh can create void that engulfs negative energy and redirect it to his foes causing massive damage.

Level 1 - Deals 50 pure damage initially. If the targeted unit(s) damage any friendly units, including Medivh, it will recieve 20% of the damage it caused.
Level 2 - Deals 90 pure damage initially. If the targeted unit(s) damage any friendly units, including Medivh, it will recieve 30% of the damage it caused.
Level 3 - Deals 130 pure damage initially. If the targeted unit(s) damage any friendly units, including Medivh, it will recieve 40% of the damage it caused.
Level 4 - Deals 170 pure damage initially. If the targeted unit(s) damage any friendly units, including Medivh, it will recieve 50% of the damage it caused.

Area of Effect damage will cause a stacked effect towards the aggressor.

Gives a buff to any enemy units within the area of effect to return damage to themselves as they attack your allies after reductions, but before division of Spiritual Link.

All damage, including magic damage will count against the unit(s).

Return Damage is Pure
Buff Duration is 5 Seconds
Casting Range is 500
300 Area of Effect

Cooldown: 15/14/13/12 Seconds
Mana Cost: 90/100/110/120

(Needs Recoloring)

Recovery Cloak

Medivh was able to enchant a normal cloak with loving sprites that heal him from enduring damage. Each time a spirit heals Medivh, it is released from the cloak until it vanishes.

Level 1 - Every 8 attacks endured, Medivh casts a healing spray healing 75 hit points, removes negative buffs, and releases a Wisp. Max of 3 Wisps at any given time.
Level 2 - Every 7 attacks endured, Medivh casts a healing spray healing 90 hit points, removes negative buffs, and releases a Wisp. Max of 4 Wisps at any given time.
Level 3 - Every 6 attacks endured, Medivh casts a healing spray healing 105 hit points, removes negative buffs, and releases a Wisp. Max of 5 Wisps at any given time.
Level 4 - Every 5 attacks endured, Medivh casts a healing spray healing 120 hit points, removes negative buffs, and releases a Wisp. Max of 6 Wisps at any given time.

Quote:
Wisp

Duration: 20 Seconds

Hit Points: 450
Armor: 0 (Light)
Move Speed: 300
Collision: .1
Gold Bounty: 5
Sight: 1800/1800

Passive:
Each Wisp within an 800 AoE adds 1% Base Damage and .5% max Hit Points to Medivh
Any damage taken, including magical damage from Spiritual Link, counts toward releasing a healing spray. Also, damage per second spells get counted for each second of damage.

Since Damage Per Second attacks are negative buffs (usually), they are removed after the first heal that is proc'ed.

Healing time is instant
200/300/400/500 Area of Effect centered on Medivh
Minimum interval between Healing Sprays is .75 seconds

__________________________________________________

Spirit Bond

Medivh reaches deep inside himself to bind his allies souls to him.

Level 1 - Any damage that occurs to your allied units is instantly healed. Lasts 3 seconds.
Level 2 - Any damage that occurs to your allied units is instantly healed. Lasts 4 seconds.
Level 3 - Any damage that occurs to your allied units is instantly healed. Lasts 5 seconds.

Medivh does not get healed through out the duration (he doesn't recieve his own buff).

Any damage that occurs to your allied units is instantly healed as a psudo-evasion allowing damage to be taken. If any damage occurs that is greater then the affected allies units hit points after reductions and dissipation, the unit will die instead of being healed (similar to Faceless Void's Backtrack).

To clarify, this isn't a Area of Effect Borrowed Time. Any affected units don't net any hit points from this exchange of being damaged and healed.

Example: Your hero is hit with 150 damage after reductions and division of Spiritual Link. After a very short time (like .01 seconds), your hero will be healed by 150 hit points. There is no net exchange occuring like what Burrowed Time does.

Cooldown: 160/140/120
Mana Cost: 200/225/250

SKILL SYNERGY

Using Spiritual Link and Iron Maiden together will optimize the damage returned to opponents and damage to you and your allies. It will work very nicely as a great support combo.

Surviving an onslaught of attacks will make this combo work perfectly. By dividing up the damage, Medivh will be able to endure quite a punishment as he heals himself the faster the damage comes due to minor damage from other units while being link. I see this combo very effective during pushing as your creeps will get attacked no matter what, allowing you to take minor damage and healing yourself and your creeps!

By channelling Spirit Bond, your opponents only option is to disable and dispatch you. With Recover Cloak, the punishment will be more doable and your allies will actually be healed from their already psuedo-evasion.

The full combo can be put into play. By casting Spiritual Link on yourself, linking you to your allies, you will take 30% less damage dissipated upon your allies. Then by casting Iron maiden, the damage that they recieve will be reflected in a amplified effect, especially towards Area of Effect spells. Finally, when you cast Spirit Link, your allies divide the damage and reflect all oncoming damage, while being healed by Recovery Cloak and Spirit Bond!

HERO SYNERGY

Bradwaren
With his superior tanking skills and Return, Medivh can give him a huge boost of survival with Spiritual Link and Iron Maiden. Not only will he tank harder, but he will devistate opponents who target him with massive return damage.

Dazzle
Dazzle's team heals and Shadow Grave will work perfectly with Medivh's skill set. Spiritual Link will divide damage to other units, allowing him to heal more effectively. With Iron Maiden and Shadow Grave, opponents will be hit hard trying to kill your allies off.

Slithice
Using Spiritual Link and Iron Maiden with Slithice's Images will make opponents cringe as they take 300% normal damage which will damage them with Iron Maiden. Ouch.

Jah'rakal
Supporting your teams carry is a priority in every game. With Iron Maiden and Spirit Bond, targeting the carry will prove to be lethal in most cases with a basic invulnerablity and huge return damage.
__________________________________________________

ITEM SYNERGY

Early Game Items

Your main role is support, so getting branches, tangos and clarities is a basic start. With a chicken, building a Mekansm is quite easy on lane and will help a with the damage division from Spiritual Link and tanking damage with Iron Maiden.

Middle Game Items

Survival is a priority mid-game, which is why items like Soul Booster and Preservance will help out quite a lot, which can easily help out by turning into a Bloodstone. The mana pool from Bloodstone will help with Spirit Bond in terms of damage and healing power goes, because you will be targeted hard for using Spirit Bond. Hood of Definance will stack well with Spiritual Link for surivial as well because it deals magic damage. Also, Blademail will stack with Iron Maiden, dealing huge damage to enemies as you lack much offence.

Late Game Items

Lets not forget the role: support. Boots of Travel, Guinsoo's Scythe, Orchid Malevolence and Shiva's Guard are all great Intelligence support items that will work well. Black King's Bar is almost great survival for setting up Spirit Bond placement for anti-disables.

It probably should say "and" instead of "or", think of it as necros nuke that both heals and damages except on a more devistating level. Which now that i think of it could be a bit more original so if anyone has any suggestions im up for it.

Im actually brainstorming right now.

Change "The Spirit Keeper" to something else , we already have a soul keeper.
Apart from that a nice suggestion , however , you should lower the iron maiden numbers to something like 30/40/50/60%. If you could recolor the ulti + cloak icons to something lighter that would make the set look better together.

Default Re: [Sent-Int] Medivh, The Spirit Keeper

I like the new approach of this hero, very unique. But lets get on specifically.

Spiritual Link is a quite updated verrsion of Fatal Bonds and Gravekeeper's Cloak, share the pain, which is excellent for survivability. I have to say, this skill is one of the better ones here in pd.com

AOE Return? Its fine but maybe an extra effect would get it going more smoothly, well as for me, though. Good concept, may be too overpowering for Centaur/NA though.

10 armor and 40% spell reduction max at level 4. Balanced but the mechanics are simply overused, gaining and reducing magic resistance and armor. I suggest a small rework on this skill.

Spirit Bond needs a lot of clarifications. First thing, how much HP would be healed to the allies around you? Second, is this an AOE spell? The channeling reminds me of Upheaval with an added heal in the AOE. Love this skill.

Overall, concept-wise the hero is bad-ass. Another supporter-babysitter themed hero in DotA doesn't get old, and we are always in need of one. Good job on you hero, hope you do get some positive replies.

Bishop Bernd:
I agree the name could use a revamp as it is kinda cliche. Ill brainstorm something else up.

As for the Iron Maiden, you must remember this hero has no offensive spells, but ill take the nerf into consideration.

And the icons can always be changed. Ill wait to see if this guy takes off before i do much more work on him cosmetically.

king_james:
Just want to say sorry for the confusion earlier lol.

Thanks for the support overall and im actually quite suprized at your comment on spiritual link

As for the originality of Adaptive Cloak, I'm unfamilar with anyone taking the concept lately, as I took it from a item suggestion about 2 years ago from DA.

Spirit Bond works as such. Any unit in a 600 AoE around Medivh while he channels will be healed of any damage that they take instantly (think of a AoE backtrack from Faceless Void). But if the damage that they take is over their current hp, it will kill them instead of healing them (this is also just like backtrack). It is a psudo-heal, because they will take the damage first, but that exact amount will be replenished instantly (like .01 seconds).

Review time

1st skill: reversed Fatal Bond
Nice

2nd skill: AoE return damage
Nice, not the numbers 350 AoE is not joking

3rd skill: bonus armor and magic resistance when hit
Old concept but still work since it's not implemented. But he's not a tanker.

Ultimate skill: AoE 100% Backtrack
Will make an immortal army
Nice concept and balanced

Mini suggestions:
2nd skill: lower either the % or the AoE
3rd skill: rework the numbers and make the skill trigger when a unit under effect(s) of 1st, 2nd or Ultimate skill is attacked => synergy, no tanking. An ally takes the bonus(es) based on times he has been hit and Medivh takes the bonus(es) based on times all allies have been hit.

kanzakill:
The percentage has been lower as your the 2nd one to mention it. I also agree that 90% return on a aoe spell like pugna would probably kill him in 1 swoop (which would be kinda funny), but its imbalanced.

The only thing is that i disagree with him not having to be a tank as a int char. He has no direct offensive spells, leaving him to either have to get dagon or shivas, or rely on his teammates to get kills for him with Iron Maiden. Something has to give, and i see his only viable option is to mass up a bloodstone / heart / bkb / blademail to tank with his ult.

However, I may agree that the mechanic are a bit plain. Perhaps a remake of skill 3 will be in order as it actually is slightly anti-synergetic with Iron Maiden because it adds to reductions which lower the return damage.

Review as requested :

1st Skill : Spirit link???? This is very similar to it. I think you should consider changing it.

2nd Skill : AoE return could be fatal. You could easily killed crystal maiden that trying to freezing field. I think this skill should be single targeted or lesser return for AoE. T-Up for concept

3rd Skill : Simply nice. T-Up for this.

Ulti : This is great. A channeling saving skill. I like it.

Synergies : Too defensive synergies. I guess you should have at least one things that is both offensive and defensive

Default Re: [Sent-Int] Medivh, The Spirit Keeper

Reviewing hero upon request:

Skill 1: ...I don't get how it works...so at level 4, if you cast it on only 2 units, only 25% of the damage is dissipated between the two of you or is it 50%? Or does medivh take the 75% remaining while the allied only takes 25%? Little more clarification and possibly math to explain this to me.

Skill 2: So basically a 65% attack damage return right? Quite useful.

Skill 3: I like the idea of armor growth and spell reduction growth! Synergizes quite well with skill 1.

Ultimate: Similar to omni's so no one is really going to plan on attacking, rendering it a bit useless. How about after a certain period of time, all heroes around you regain their lost hp instead? By doing so, it might tempt enemies in to attacking them within the duration, hoping they can kill the hero before they get healed. So like say, you cast spirit bond and in 5 seconds, all damage allied heroes recieved will be recovered.

Overall this hero plays a great role as a supporter if pulled off properly and his skills synergize quite nicely with each other. Just needs some clarification and balancing and this hero is good to go! Nice job!

skill 1: a reverse skill of fatal bond or like a skill in warcraft bonus campaign. I like it. it very useful.

Skill 2: it's too imba and it's like blade mail or anub'arak third skill.

Skill 3: have good synergy with first skill. every attacked by the enemy, you take less damage from it,

Review as requested

Spiritual Link
- I like it. Opens up a lot of new possibilities for the term 'support'. It's unique and fits the hero theme well, and the numbers seem balaced ( to me ).

Overall: 8/10 on concept.

Iron Maiden
- It is a good skill overall, but it is kinda copious. IMO there are already enough return-based effects in DotA. Also, your hero will be boring to play if he were all pure support. Perhaps either changing this skill or the passive to a nuke or a stun or a slow or an AOE damage effect of some sort with added effects?

Overall: Null Vote

Adaptive Cloak
- I love this skill. It is pretty well thought out and it synergises greatly with the ulti. Since you don't gain the effect of your ulti this is great to provide your hero with extra defences. T-up all the way.

Overall: 10/10 for concept.

Spirit Bond

- Hmmm, a Borrowed Time and Guardian Angel mix. Not very original but it's what will give your hero great team presence in clashes and it is perhaps his most powerful skill. It also synergies great with the passive. What it lacks in originality can be easily made up for in usefulness.

Overall: 8/10 on concept.

Ok, I will put aside my personal dislike of supportive heroes, becuase I wouldn't really have fun playing any supportive hero - but I do understand some people like to play them and I won't drag in my personal approach.
Anyways...

Spiritual Link
Very nice, although in the hands of a coward it can be very annoying for the rest of the team - imagine an idiot who constantly casts this and then ram his way into the center of the fight, letting himself killed and also doing heavy damage to his allies.
In optimal environment, on the other hand, a great supportive skill that will be very useful to a capable team.

Iron Maiden
Now, this looks kinda overpowered to me. 65% AOE return...? I dunno, but provided this hero has other powerful supportive skills... I would probably exchange this one for some offensive spell. You know, he can't do a thing on his own. When his lane partner will go shopping, he will just have to wait for him...

Adaptive Cloak
Very nice, something to protect the fragile caster. Nothing too complicated (in concept, I don't know about coding this ) yet very useful. No deep thoughts on this one.

Spirit Bond
Well, I would probably like it more if it just made them immortal. Who would bash a hero under this spell? If you mean to punish those who target heroes under this spell by accident, ok then, but I don't think it's really needed.
Also, healing them trough the dissipation sounds kinda complicated, I would need to see it in play, probably... You would have to cast Spiritual Link to someone who won't be affected by Spirit Bond later, so that the enemy would attack him - otherwise you would just cause the enemy to fall back for 3/4/5s, because any attack would be futile - it would damage the attackers, heal your units... who would do that?
But then it would make the enemy to concentrate fire on someone, who would probably die...

Overall, seems like a nice supprotive hero, BUT - he lacks any offensive potential, and will have a really hard time gaining money, because his only source of money will be last-hitting. And, of course, he cannot use BF, so there really isn't any quick way for him to earn some gold. Everyone will cut trough neutrals and creeps, later in the game, but he won't. He will just cast supportive skills and die because of bad items.

Just my opinion, of course. But I would personally, as I implied sooner, toss the second skill and put there some offensive AOE spell. Maybe even some disable, who knows. But something to let him take action, not just rely on power of others.

Default Re: [Sent-Int] Medivh, The Spirit Keeper

Iron Maiden has been remade into an offensive AoE nuke + damage return while keeping the actual function exactly the same (hold synergy with the other spells). It will make Medivh much more viable and have a bit of offense as well.

Some numbers were also changed: 350 to 300 AoE, 400 to 500 cast range, 20/35/50/65% to 20/30/40/50%.

Now for responses; and thanks everyone for taking the time to review my hero. Really appreciate it.

NoThlnG:
I somewhat modeled this skill off of Syllabears old subskill, but i feel it is quite appropiate for his build as many others agree.

Iron Maiden has been taken care of now. It should look much better.

I added some clarification on Spiritual Link in the 2nd paragraph. It should make a bit more sense.

As for Spirit Bond, i was going for a very similar effect as Voodoo Restoration does in WC3 engine giving invulerablity to all units but yourself. It has many applicable usage and is an amazing skill in team battles. but of course i did think of your suggestion as well. I just feel that this works best with his other 3 skills, particually spiritual link when cast upon himself.

xy4kuz4x:
Iron Maiden as mentioned before has been changed to be offensive instead. I can see that was your only problem.

Not really sure what you meant by Soon for my Ult, but ok.

doomsheep:
Thanks for the bump anyways lol

Teh Wun:
Thanks for the support.

Dead Vigilante:
Thanks for the very in depth review. I got a lot out of it.

Your suggestion of how to change Iron Maiden got me to where it is now. It should look much better and fit the "Iron Maiden" theme from diablo quite and fit an offensive role into his old defensive self.

ElDoRado1239:
Thanks for the in-depth review as well.

Yes i agree spiritual link could be abused and actually kill your allies if you want to be a dick, but for competive play it could possibly be one of the better support skills in the game.

for the 4th time, Iron Maiden has been changed so theres the offense

As for Spirit Bond, making them invulerable would actually put you into much more jepordy as they will auto attack you instantly instead of attack your allies who get constantly healed anyway. Not only that, but also spiritual link wouldnt dissipate damage and Iron Maiden wouldnt return damage if they couldnt be hit, making his 2 spells useless while casting his ult. its just a bad idea personally.
