EDIT 250210: I've reduced the fade time of the residual image from 2 seconds to 0.5 seconds to make it look more natural.

Introduction

Ever since the Anti-Mage has gotten a visual remake for Blink, I always felt that there was something lacking thematically in the skill, and this suggestion is an attempt to fix it. Besides the renaming of the skill, this suggestion will also offer a visual improvement to the skill's animation.

Skill Rename

Change the skill's name and description from this:

Short distance teleportation that allows one to move in and out of combat.
to this

Brisk

Moves quickly to a target location almost instantaneously.
The rationale behind this is simple: the skill's animation doesn't look like the Anti-Mage is ripping a portal to teleport at all. Coupled with the fact that the Anti-Mage is an AGI hero, having him dash to his target would seem more logical.

Note: Please drop your comments on the name of the skill! All criticisms and suggestions welcome Below are a list of good name suggestions that can also be used:
  • Swift Step (Ez_Mystery)

Visual Tweaks

Anti-Mage's current animation also looks a little weird with that weird moving shadow that he leaves behind and his awkward fading in animation after he casts the spell. The whole animation makes him look like some kind of spirit fading out of existence and reappearing at another spot.

This is how it should look like:





What I've done was basically give the dummy an RGB tint of 0/100/255 and made him pose at a static frame of his animation. The dummy starts with 40% transparency and fades away over 0.5 seconds. Also, the real Anti-Mage doesn't fade in when he arrives at the target location anymore.

The static pose of the dummy unit was made by making it play its "spell throw" animation for 0.04 seconds at an animation speed of 320%. Afterwards, its animation speed is set to 0% (i.e. stopped). The animation time of 0.04 seconds used to make the pose not noticable at all.

The sound played is Sound\\Units\\Combat\\EtherealMediumHit2.wav at 1.6 pitch. It plays when the spell takes effect.

There is a testmap here if you want to check it out in live action. The whole animation looks a lot better in action.

really nice suggestion, the sound effect is cool too
but the name sounds a bit silly imo
i personally like swift step

Ontopic. The graphic looks awesome, typical high quality we expect from you. To the name change... Imo you should get away from that awful Blink. I think it is so unfitting for any kind of Teleportation. Especially for Magina.
This suggestion works well with the ladder 'Evasion'-icon, suggested by Reality, found here.

The visual effect seems great, from what I've seen in the screenshots, T-up.(I can't download the test map ): ). However, the current name fits so I don't see any need to change it.

maby attach a thin trail effect to indicate that he has travelled to that place, not teleported.
i don't think it will nerf him too much, as he already shows where he blinked by the directions he casts the animation at

Imho, current AM's blink is good as it is, but You man are having some T-up's there so I'll check the testmap and probably give a T-up later :P. Now it's T-null.

hmmmm... nice... t-up on the animation...

giving a trail would suit blinkdash more, since he 'dashed'...
then again, blinkdash sounds a bit silly imo... 'blink' and 'dash' at the same time? wut?

It makes no sense to make it have an animation. I've decreased the fade time however, to make it look less like a "static remnant".
