Scourge Tower Death Animation
14th March 2010 Saturday

ANCIENT PROTECTOR

I highly recommend you test the map out rather than viewing the image, as the animation has two parts, unreliably the screenshots do not show it very well, if at all.

The nature magic within the Ancient Protector expands, unable to be held within the current body and explodes afterwards.

SPIRIT TOWER
The Spirit in the Spirit Tower dissipates from it, returning to the sky.



A barrage of spiders escape from the tower as it is destroyed, fading away.

To be honest, while th idea is nice (It was awesome in the Halloween Map), I think those spiders are too big and maybe too much. The complete black tinting isn't that good, either. You should improve it a bid, than you have my support.

That's a quite nice idea there... But those spiders don't feel right and the second effect is a bit much. Maybe spirits released? You know, the model of tower's normal attacks. They could maybe move in spiral to sky or something like that. T-up for concept.

Alright, try now. The spider's are a bit smaller and not as completely black.

And yeah, I'm experimenting. I'll try play around with spirits floating into the sky.

Why not take the death animation from the Haunted Gold mine for Scourge towers (spirits fleeing part, not the green dome part.) IMO Sentinel towers death animation is fine.

Guys, this is visuals, its an eyecandy, don't be easily satisfied by graphics. Although effect 1 is neat, i would actually like souls but spiders are okay since it's from the bottom of the tomb.

It wouldn't give the sentinel justice though.

I do agree it should be a lot more BAM to kill a tower, and some graphic improvement is always welcome. But I can't see the point in spiders, seriously. What was mentioned before makes more sense in my opinion: give the exploding tower some escaping spirits / souls, that fit the theme.
Actually I really do like the idea of spirits being set free by the Sentinel, would give a minimum more motivation to kill it myself ('cause I'm the good guy, y'see?).

On the other hand, I'd like to see something more flashy for the Sentinel towers too. I must admit, that I'm not to firm with all the WorldEditor-stuff, but are there any sprout-animations in WC3, that could be reworked to rotten looking -that would make a cool effect, especially when you're playing Scourge -hell yea, rot the fuckin tree down!

Ok. I'm drafting a plan now.

Basically, 'energy' travels into the core of the Ancient Protector, then it explodes releasing the 'energy powder/dust/whatever' in a gigantic firework/nova thing. And trust me, it's fancy
