Disclaimer: DotA Lynch Game is not a spam game. If you are used to it, then set it aside for the mean time while dealing with this game. This is a serious and decent strategical mind-game that is based on Mafia and Werewolf game. This game requires competent persons with high skills in logic and analysis, and a critical thinker. If you are thinking that this is some kind of a joke forum game and/or just a waste of time, then you are wrong and proving yourself incompetent. Prove me wrong!

DotA Lynch Game #6





Overview

Ages of battles between the Sentinel and the Scourge, a new village is discovered to be overrun by the ghouls. The Sentinel heroes aid the villagers into figuring out who the ghouls are. With the clashes between the two teams, the neutral camps are being disturbed. What will happen to the whole village?


Basic Concept

DotA Lynch Game is a game of logic, deception, and persuasion.

Every person is assigned a role at the start of the game. You are randomly sided with either the Sentinel, the Scourge, or as a neutral character. During the night, the scourge team secretly eats one person from the sentinel. During the day, the villagers must figure out who the ghouls are and bringing punishment into them!

You will play as either ghouls (the Scourge), real villagers (the Sentinel), or somebody else (the Neutral Camps)! Your goal is to converse with other players and advance toward your own goals. Your skills in persuasion and lying will determine the course of the game.

Both the Sentinel, the Scourge, and the neutral camps are having heroes that have special ability. Each heroes should be utilized to benefit your own team.

The Scourge knows every member of the team and can communicate away from the village in their own meeting place, the Scourge Tavern. They can eliminate each of the villagers to win. Once the Scourge outnumbers or equals the Sentinel, the Scourge wins.

The Sentinel doesn't know who are the real villagers. They need to decide in the whole village, together with the ghouls acting to be an innocent villager, on who to lynch during the day. Upon eliminating all the Scourge members, the Sentinel wins.

The neutral camps have different winning conditions stated on their role informations.

This the game of uninformed majority against the informed minority, hence the good and the bad guys.


Game Instructions

  1. Read the 'General Guidelines' section.

  2. If the game is in role distribution stage, you will receive a private message from the game host to confirm your active registration within 24 hours from the date of receipt.

  3. After 24 hours, you will receive another private message containing your role information. You should still confirm your role to the game host within 24 hours from the date of receipt.

  4. A new game thread will be made prior to the commencement of the game, hence the Sentinel village thread.

  5. The game starts at day phase, basically at Day 1. During the day, you will communicate in the village thread with all the other participants.

  6. Since the night is collaborated with the day, a night extension will approach after the day, basically called night phase.

  7. Then the next phase will approach, hence the Day 2/Night 2. Then, the Day 3/Night 3 and so on.

  8. The game ends when a team won their goal or a certain player (neutral hero) successfully accomplished his misison.


Standard Roles and Heroes

These are the roles that may appear in this version. All or few may be used depending on the number of participants. Everyone's role is hidden in the game but reveals upon death.

The Sentinel

Villager (Lynch - Day Active)
  • During the day, the villagers discuss on who to lynch.
  • Lynched player are eliminated in the game.

Holy Knight (Test of Faith - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Holy Knight is a villager.
  • During the night, the Holy Knight chooses a person to test.
  • The Holy Knight will learn his target's faith on the following day.

Omniknight (Repel - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Omniknight is a villager.
  • During the night, the Omniknight chooses a person to protect.
  • The Omniknight will save his target from infestation and any cause of death on the same night.

Dwarven Sniper (Assassinate - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Dwarven Sniper is a villager.
  • During the night, the Dwarven Sniper can choose to assassinate a person.
  • The Dwarven Sniper will instantly kill and eliminate his target from the game.
  • Assassinare - Can only be used once per game.

Pandaren Brewmaster (Drunken Haze - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Pandaren Brewmaster is a villager.
  • During the night, the Pandaren Brewmaster chooses a person to drench.
  • The Pandaren Brewmaster will stop his target from doing anything on the same night.

Centaur Warchief (Great Fortitude - Night Passive, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Centaur Warchief is a villager.
  • During the night, the Centaur Warchief endures and survives any cause of death.

Prophet - New! (Sprout - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Prophet is a villager.
  • During the night, the Prophet chooses a person to trap.
  • The Prophet will arrest his target for the following day and night, allowing him to interrogate it.
  • The Prophet's identity will be unknown to his target.
  • Trapped person will be omitted from all his other discussions as well disallowing him to perform and be performed with any other actions as well.
  • The Prophet cannot trap someone until current target is released.

Enchantress - New! (Enchant - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Enchantress is a villager.
  • During the night, the Enchantress chooses a person to enchant.
  • The Enchantress will invite her target to be a part of their meeting with the other enchanted villagers.
  • Enchanted villagers, together with Enchantress, can communicate with each other every night.
  • If a Sentinel Hero (or Neutral Hero) is enchanted, they will take part in the meeting every night, but will permanently lose their abilities.
  • If the Enchantress tries to enchant a ghoul, the Enchantress and the enchanted villagers will die.
  • If the Enchantress is killed, the enchanted meeting will stop from growing as the recruiter is dead.

Slayer - New! (Laguna Blade - Day Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Slayer is a villager.
  • If the Slayer is lynched, she can choose to slay a person with her.
  • The Slayer will instantaneously kill her target before her death.
  • Laguna Blade - Can only be used once per game.


The Scourge

Ghoul (Feast - Night Active)
  • During the day, the ghoul is a villager.
  • During the night, the ghouls discuss on who to feast.
  • Feasted player will be eliminated in the game.

Lifestealer (Infest - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Lifestealer is a villager.
  • During the night, the Lifestealer is also a ghoul.
  • During the night, the Lifestealer can choose to infest a person.
  • The Lifestealer will steal his target's affiliation and identity form on the following phases.
  • The Lifestealer will appear to have faith on the Holy Knight, while his target will appear to distrust.
  • The Lifestealer will die as his target's role, while his target will die as a ghoul.
  • Infestation lasts only until the Lifestealer dies (even if he dies as his target's role).
  • Infest - Can only be used once per game.

Spectre (Spectral Dagger - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Spectre is a villager.
  • During the night, the Spectre is also a ghoul.
  • During the night, the Spectre chooses a person to chase.
  • The Spectre will discover his target's identity on the following day.

Bane Elemental (Nightmare - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Bane Elemental is a villager.
  • During the night, the Bane Elemental is also a ghoul.
  • During the night, the Bane Elemental chooses a person to put into sleep.
  • The Bane Elemental will stop his target from doing anything on the same night.

Skeleton King - New! (Reincarnation - Night Passive, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Skeleton King is a villager.
  • During the night, the Skeleton King is also a ghoul.
  • The Skeleton King will be reincarnated on the following day after being lynched.
  • The Skeleton King is dead during the night after being lynched.

Soul Keeper - New! (Sunder - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Soul Keeper is a villager.
  • During the night, the Soul Keeper is also a ghoul.
  • During the night, the Soul Keeper can choose to sunder a person.
  • The Soul Keeper will sacrifice himself to convert his target into a ghoul.
  • The Soul Keeper will die after converting.

Butcher - New! (Dismember - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Butcher is a villager.
  • During the night, the Butcher is also a ghoul.
  • During the night, the Butcher can choose to dismember a person.
  • The Butcher will fully consume his target if it is eaten on the same night.
  • Dismembered person will leave no trace when eaten, thus completely hiding his identity from the village upon death.
  • Only the Butcher will discover his target's identity.
  • Dismember - Can only be used once per game.

Nerubian Weaver - New! (Shukuchi - Day Active)
  • During the day, the Nerubian Weaver is a villager.
  • During the night, the Nerubian Weaver is also a ghoul.
  • During the day, the Nerubian Weaver chooses a person to shukuchi on.
  • The Nerubian Weaver will secretly vote his target for lynching.
  • The Nerubian Weaven can hide his votes away from the village, thus, hiding his voting history to avoid being traced.
  • Any lynch voting done by the Nerubian Weaver will not be counted to the tally (cosmetic vote) upon using Shukuchi voting (actual vote).


The Neutral Camps - New!

Bounty Hunter - New! (Track - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Bounty Hunter is a villager.
  • During the night, the Bounty Hunter can choose to track a person.
  • The Bounty Hunter will discover his target's identity on the following day.
  • The Bounty Hunter wins the game if the tracked person is lynched on one of the preceeding days after the following day.
  • If the Bounty Hunter dies without using his ability, he will win with the Sentinel.
  • Track - Can only be used once per game.

Templar Assassin - New! (Meld - Night Active)
  • During the day, the Templar Assassin is a villager.
  • During the night, the Templar Assassin chooses a person to meld and stab.
  • The Templar Assassin will wound her target on the first instance. And she will kill her target if it is already wounded.
  • The Templar Assassin cannot be targeted when melding. All night actions targeting her are cancelled.
  • The Templar Assassin wins if she is one of the last two persons (if not the last) to survive at the end of the game.
  • If the Templar Assassin is alive while all Scourge members are dead, the game will still continue since she is also considered as a villain.
  • Cannot win with the Sentinel.

Geomancer - New! (Divided We Stand - Night Passive, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Geomancers are villagers.
  • During the night, the Geomancers meet together to discuss their plans ahead.
  • The Geomancers win if they are equal or more than the other living players in the game.

Vengeful Spirit - New! (Nether Swap - Night Active, Ultimate)
  • During the day, the Vengeful Spirit is a villager.
  • During the night, the Vengeful Spirit can choose to magically swap a person with yourself.
  • The Vengeful Spirit will swap all the actions done to her and to her target.
  • The Vengeful Spirit must also choose to be a part or against his target's actual affiliation.
  • The Vengeful Spirit wins when her target wins/loses (depending on her choice).
  • If the Vengeful Spirit dies without using her ability, she will win with the Sentinel.
  • Nether Swap - Can only be used once per game.



* Night Active ability is inherent and will only take effect during the night it was used. Results of actions, if available, are given on the following day.
* Night Active, Ultimate ability is usable once per game and affects more than one phase.
* Night Passive ability is situationally available to the character.
* Night Passive, Ultimate ability is permanent to the character.


General Guidelines

  1. This is a simplified version. Day and night are mixed almost together. During the day, night will also take its part. When the day ends, a night extension will occur for emergency changes in accordance to the last occurence in the day phase. Day phase lasts 46 hours and night phase lasts 48 hours altogether.

  2. Any other means of communication, aside from those provided by the game host, are strictly prohibited and will be considered cheating. The villagers are only allowed to discuss in the game thread. The ghouls are only allowed to secretly discuss in the document provided by the game host.

  3. Only active players are allowed. If you want to join, you should atleast be present on the last hour of the day phase for a better decision on lynches, or for emergency changes in actions during the night phase. Failure to submit an action, such as lynch, feast, or special abilities, will be warned.

    To be an effective participant, make sure to check and post game-related comments in the game thread atleast once in every 24 hours.

  4. Day Action Guidelines

    1. For registered players, all conversations about the current game should only be posted in the game thread.

    2. Always vote your lynch choice by highlighting the name (and only the name) in [COLOR="Green"]. Bolded Green is only encouraged upon exercising force-lynch.

    3. For the game reference, you are not allowed to edit what you have already posted within the entire discussion in the game thread, unless permitted or demanded to do so. Edited posts are evident by the 'Last edited by..' line. So, be warned.

  5. Night Actions Guideline

    1. For the Scourge players, all conversations about the current game should only be discussed by the Scourge team in the document provided.

    2. Always vote your feast choice by highlighting the name (and only the name) in Red. Bolded Red is only encouraged upon exercising force-feast.

    3. For the game reference, you are not allowed to edit what you have already posted within the entire discussion in the given document. Only the game host can edit the posts in the said document. Edited posts are evident by the Revision History. So, be warned.

    4. Special night actions should be sent through PMing the game host. It should follow this format:

      PM Subject:
      [DLG6 N1] Nether Swap on DLG.Master, IceFrog, etc, (+)

      PM Message:
      Leave blank if you don't have any notification or question about your role for the game host.

      DLG6 is the game round code (DLG5, DLG6, etc).
      N1 is the night code (N1, N2, D3, D5, etc).
      Nether Swap is your role's ability (Nether Swap, Infest, etc).
      DLG.Master is your first priority target.
      IceFrog is your second priority target.
      etc is your 3rd (or nth) priority target each separated by comma.
      (+) is a special option available only for Nether Swap, (+) or (-).

      * Priority Target is recognized when your prior targets are invalidated (lynched, killed), and you are not available to submit a new action/target.

    5. You can change your night actions anytime during the night. Only the last sent action (target choice) will be recognized.

  6. Any dead participants and unregistered forumers are strictly prohibited to speak in the game thread. There is a lobby for your concerns. Dead ghouls are also dead in the Scourge meeting place.

  7. Avoid cluttering any of the game-related thread and documents with off-topic messages. You are not the only one reading the thread. Questions are not asked in the game thread as well (due to the fact that the game host is unexisting in the game). It is in the game lobby or thru PMing the game host.

  8. Discussions about the current game in the game lobby by either the living, the dead, or the unregistered participants are strictly prohibited.

  9. Each violations will grant you a warn. Too much warns will cause you to be a candidate for replacement.

  10. To register in the game, you are required to create a GoogleDocs Account (signup link). You can use any email address to create an account, such as yahoo, msn, hotmail, etc. If you already have one, PM the game host with the following informations so that your email address will be safelisted:

    • Email address you used to create a GoogleDocs account
    • Details of your most available time, stating your GMT as well (GMT, GMT+3, GMT-8, etc)


    After PMing, post in this topic and state your agreement to the guidelines. Also, specify if you wish to be registered as an official participant or as a replacement.

    [DLG6] Test Document

    Your GoogleDocs account will be used for special access in the Google Documents to be used in special discussions (the Prophet's Sprout for example). Registration involving GoogleDocs account requirement will just happen once. It will be used for future rounds as well, so no need to repeat the whole steps in registering.

    Note: If you having a problem creating a GoogleDocs account, or you are not sure of what to do, contact the game host for assistance.

Latest Question:

Q: How is the game heavily moderated?

A: Check the last game. Off-topic posting is minimized and almost unexisting. There are set of rules that ensures that the game won't hang long. The gameflow is neat and reviewable by non-players..


Q: The Bounty Hunter tracks DLG|Master during Night 1. He discovers its role on Day 2. His target is lynched on Day 3 (4, 5, 6, etc). Does the Bounty Hunter win the game? Does the game end already?

A: Yes, the Bounty Hunter wins. I'm still unsure as of now. But by default, yes, the game ends already.


Q: What happens if Soul Keeper sunders enchantress?

A: Enchantress will become a ghoul. Enchanted persons will lose their leader losing the ability of the group to recruit as well.


Q: Do we HAVE to register for GoogleDocs?

A: Yes. This is to enable you for special permissions and different accesses to the game's documents.


Q: I have a Google account. But which is the e-mail I should PM?

A: PM the email you used to register in the GoogleDocs signup page. If you are talking about the Gmail account itself, therefore the Gmail address works good as well.


Q: Question about Geomancer. The number will always be four, or they increase?

A: They increase or decrese on each round depending on the number of total participants during that round.


Q: Why isn't my registration accepted?

A: You failed to follow the guideline in registering step by step.


Q: Okay, I have signed up to GoogleDocs already. What do I do next?

A: Read the guidelines. The steps should be there.


Q: How many members will this round have?

A: As many as we can have, but atleast 8 or 12 players. Registration page will be open for a week or less.


Q: Is there some fixed Hero Precedence Order by which the hero skills work?

A: Yes, there is a so-called priority order.


Q: Why can't I edit the google document?

A: If you already have signed up for one, make sure you already PM'd the game host about the details needed. Review the guidelines. Also, make sure you are signed in before editing.


Q: How often can the normal actives been used?

A: Normal active abilities are usable once per night. By default, it only affects the night it was used. All results of actions will occur on the following day (such as investigations and deaths).


Q: What happens if a villager is enchanted and swapped on the same night?

A: The Vengeful Spirit will be enchanted instead.


Q: What happens if a ghoul is enchanted and swapped on the same night? Will the Enchantress and the enchanted villagers die?

A: Same answer as above. No, since the ghouls wasn't enchanted.


Q: What happens if a fake ghoul (infested villager) is enchanted? Or Lifestealer under the effect of Infest?

A: The infested villager will be enchanted without harming the group. While enchanting the Lifestealer under Infest will still kill the whole group.


Q: If I am correct, Geomancers are Weaker Scourge Team since they have the same winning conditions but can't feast and don't have heroes. Am I right?

A: Yes.


Q: If the Vengeful Spirit swaps with a villager, can she choose to be Scourge? Will she be able to tell Scourge about this? Will she be able to join the Scourge Tavern? Or will she be a Wild Card, trying to win as Scourge but hoping they don't feast her.

A: The Vengeful Spirit's winning condition after swapping is clear. She either wins with her target, or wins when her target loses, depending on her choice.


Q: Can the Templar Assassin meld all nights? So, she's unkillable during night, just like the Centaur Warchief?

A: Yes, unkillable but lynchable. Although, it still has some disadvantage.


Q: What is - or + option?

A: It is a unique code option for Nether Swap. If - is used, the Vengeful wins when her target loses. If + is used, the Vengeful wins when her target wins.


Q: Why would you lynch the Templar Assassin if she isn't in Scourge?

A: Since the game will still go on when the Templar Assassin is alive eventhough all ghouls are dead, you need to lynch her. She cannot win with the Sentinel team.


Q: How do I speak in the docs thingy?

A: An instruction is written in the document.


Q: About Enchantress, isn't it a little bit overpower to kill all the enchanted people if she tries to enchant a ghoul? I mean, 1 ghoul can kill like, 2 enchanted villagers and 1 hero all at once? What if it only resulted in a Enchant Fail and killed the Enchantress instead.

A: Enchantress is based in the Mafia role's Mason. The concept of the Mason/Enchantress is to Populate But Be Careful". They are also powerful in many ways, yet, risky. If only the Enchantress will die, then all the enchanted villagers will come out and vote the person tried to be enchanted by the enchantress. Makes them too powerful at all.


Q: What if people didn't know who she's trying to enchant?
Just make it that she's not allowed to tell it to them, too.


A: Why would she hide secrets on 100% Sentinel-sided? She only needs to hide her identity in case she gets sundered. If she is known, she'll be lynched as soon as she is gone in the meeting.


Q: Can you target yourself if you suspect that the Vengeful Spirit is gonna swap you or something?

A: By default, heroes cannot target themselves. If an action is swapped to an invalid target, the action will be cancelled/nullified.


Q: Will every (or all) roles be assigned?

A: All or few may be used depending on the number of participants. This will depend on the game host's preference for the game.


Q: The Centaur Warchief can't die?

A: The Centaur Warchief cannot be killed/eaten only during the night.


Q: If we don't have enough regular plain old villagers, will you just drop some of the more elaborated roles? Will you tell us if this happens?


A: I will definitely list the roles to be used. And at this moment, since we are few, I will only use the most common roles.


Q: This is adapted from the card game called Werewolves or the table game Mafia, isn't it?

A: Yes. Originally created and introduced by Saved from DA forums, and introduced by Pangpootata here in PD forums.


Q: What happens if the Soul Keeper sunders the Vengeful Spirit and the Vengeful Spirit swaps the Soul Keeper during the same night?

A: You just made it complicated. It's very simple. Sunder will be cancelled. This question has been answered above already


Q: Will the game start normally (I think it is this Friday) or it will start only after Furion's Role get decided?

A: The game will start regardless of anything. It will be on Monday for the role distribution since registration will be open for a week. Actual game will approximately be by Wednesday.


Q: How is the game heavily moderated?

The enchantress is the most fcuked up role in the game. Templar assassin is imba, and vengeful would be the only hero that would live in a slaughter and win if ever.
