King of Sparta

Background Story: Leonidas died long time ago. Surrounded, outnumbered... Like a true Spartan. But one mighty as him doesn't abide the laws of death, nor does he enjoy the dinner in hell. So Leonidas came back to life. But it wasn't Greece he returned to. Lands of Azeroth are his new battlefield. Always marching forward, Leonidas proudly leads his allies into a brighter tomorrow. The one without Scourge.

Model: Model

Pros and Cons

Pros:
-not easy to take down
-great anti-gank and escape mechanisms
-role flexibility
-decent str and agi
-focuses on team battles, but also handles smaller skirmishes quite well


Cons:
-has some great intitiating power, but lacks any form of initiation skill (although lothar/kelen can fix this)
-fails in team with summoners
-small mana pool
-has some issues when pushing that huge creep wave into enemies' base
-can't use mask of madness (joke)





Phalanax - (Toogle)
____________________Leonidas is master of battle formations, be it offensive or defensive ones. Has two modes, offensive and defensive.

Defensive Mode - (Toogle, Aura, Affects Allied Heroes)
____________________Increases his and the defense of nearby allies depending on the number of nearby allied heroes. Bonus is doubled on Leonidas.

Offensive Mode - (Toogle, Aura, Affects Allied Heroes)
____________________Every Greek knows that numbers mean nothing. Applies bonus to AS, MS and damage of nearby allies depending on the nearby enemies : nearby allies ratio. Ratio is caped at 4. Each unit adds 1 to corresponding side, each hero adds 3. Bonus is doubled on Leonidas.

  • Ratio is rounded down to nearest 0.5, i.e. possible ratio values are 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4
  • Counts in Leonidas as well
  • Doesn't count illusions
  • Counts Meepo as a single hero



Demoralization - (Active, Affects Enemy Heroes)

____________________Spartans won't go down easily. If he suffers a finishing blow, Leonidas will get some health back and take reduced damage for several seconds. Removes most debuffs when triggered.

So now, some reasoning:

Skill Set Synergy
There's no direct synergy between Leonidas' skills, like use skill A, then follow with skill B and finish with skill C. His skill set is meant to manipulate unit positioning in the battlefield, be it forming impenetretable defensive lines or breaking down your enemies' formation. Apart from that, his skills also give him some great counter-pushing powers, using that massive creep wave in order to get some nice buffs. And before you say it, demoralization indeed has some anti-synergy with that offensive mode, but hey, they're meant to achieve two different things, so that won't be a problem. Leonidas will probably get in shit over his head quite often, so Molon Labe will find its' use rather easily. Ult gives Leonidas what his other skills don't, direct damage and disable, with a rather long pseudo stun on top of all that.


Heroes


Good allies/Prefered enemies



Rambos
Rambo style is the way to go for Leonidas. However, tell Lycan to leave wolves behind.


Gankers
Demoralization makes it easier for them to focus on heroes that run too far from their team.


Wave killers
1. They clear the wave
2. You rush in and rape them
3. ???
4. Profit


Summoners
1. They summon
2. You get pumped up and slaughter them
3. ???
4. Profit

Bad allies/Feared enemies


Summoners
Either your offensive boost won't work or they won't use their summons. Lose-lose situation.


Wave killers
Although not necessarily bad, that hostile creep wave is still a must for Leonidas' play style.


1v1 rapists
You'll need allies when dealing with these bitches


Ninjas
It's hard to get close to these guys

are you weird? the (zipped!) model is more than a half mb OO.
You know ht max map size is 8mb, and dota laready isnt small.

REVIEW since I don't see this kind of suggestion everyday:

1st Skill - Seems rather weak to be honest if you consider the fact of actually clumping up the team for your passive which works ONLY for you. The reduced MS is also too much to 'balance?' the mediocre effects of this skill.

2nd Skill - Simple actually. AoE disable is always good.

3rd Skill - The AoE? This may balance out the crappy effects of your 1st skill. Then again I'm not so sure about that. Using ratio as a variable is rather original. Kudos to the skill. The effects on the other hand... Dunno bout that.

Ultimate - Make the cooldown a static 60 sec like Rexxar's roar. 3 Sec. stun , 400 damage, especially when you already have another disable every 40 sec is not funny. At all.

Overall - Simple yet it is team-oriented. Which is always a good role in DotA.

BTW if you can make Mask of Madness synergize with this hero my head will implode because of the win.

Thx for support boys, but hero isn't complete yet, so yes, some skills are retardedly powerfull while others have some issues. I'll fix him right now.

Woah, at any way I did not copy your ultimate thought it has something close to it(the increase of respawn time). I just posted my hero and saw yours and checked it out, surprised. T-Up :3 Though I bet DotA won't appreciate much if Leonidas came into dota :3

Would be funny to see if his ultimate creates a pithole behind the target before being pushed back.

Skill 3: sounds interresting, does this count for all dmg?
Skill 4: Thats funny but useless if you are in the looser team xD, maybe 8 secs is too less

All in all ok, the epic challenge to make a Leonidas Hero for DotA is really hard, but you managed that quite well. The only thing that is bad is the icon that doesn't really fit into WC3, but thats unimportant.

T-Up
Modes work as Medusa's mana shield, with offensive/defensive instead of on/off. About ulti, it's rather strong one so don't worry about that. And yeah, icon is unwarcraftish, but that's the best I got.
