The Goblin Arcanist
Vesper

Background Story: I was the last of the mages from the 'War of the Magi', it was a miracle that I even survived. So, I hid from the world. But, one day a young goblin was in front my doorstep. Injured, I did all I could to cure him. Days to months, months to years. The goblin grew, I thought him all the arcane arts of the magi and he mastered it fairly well. Yet one day darkness came in the form of the Scourge and as I hid, he joined the righteous. As to this day, I still watch that goblin, in his zeppelin causing havoc. I'm rather old now and my death seems imminent. So today, as I lay here. I reminisce about the day a Goblin Arcanist was born, the day I called him my son...

Mana Pulse
- (Active, Single Target, Area of Effect)
____________________Vesper afflicts an opponent with a curse, to be more specific a machine stuck on them which lets out a powerful pulse whenever they lose mana. Deals damage to those around affected unit every time he loses mana.

Zeppelin Crash

____________________Propelled by mana, a small zeppelin is sent flying by Vesper to a target location dealing damage, saturating the area with the essence of the arcane.

____________________Vesper still has the mentality of a goblin. The mentality which tells him to go boom when push comes to shove. His explosives on the other hand are specialized, Burning a foe's mana instead of simply causing physical damage while leaving them vulnerable to spells.

__________ __________Vesper's zeppelin is highly sensitive to arcane fluctuations. The beacons rev up the engine, gaining speed while repairing and enforcing the zeppelin for a short while whenever a foe casts a spell.

Do you really expect a hero that has "FU" in the story background to be taken seriously? I guess you got confused: This is the Hero Ideas forum, not the Comedy one.

Arcane Mine 250 Damage, 300 Mana Burn? So a total of 550 damage? Cause as far as I recall, Mana Burn means removing mana and dealing physical damage based on mana removed.

Same question with Kamikaze. 800 Mana Burn...

I see... a mana version of Techies. Kinda strong though. I remember that Nerubian Assassin's 260 mana burn was changed for the reason it's too strong against non int heroes... but since the AoE is only 250... then again NA's was only 1 target Mana Burn and this is an AoE....

Sorry I suck at balancing. Especially on pure theoretical things.

Most people say that numbers aren't much of a problem but the concept. The problem of NA's mana burn was that it was spammable and had a rather long cast range which could effectively disable a skill-dependent hero in that lane almost no prob. Where as this guy has to plant his mines first. Countered by proper warding easily.

Also if you think about it... Techies had 600 damage from his mines. It also dealt half that damage in 500 AoE. I'll just wait for more input from other members before I nerf the numbers.

I wasn't asking for a nerf. ^^
I thought that too. I was simply asking for clarification. A lot of people don't realize that Mana Burn means damage too and not just mana loss.^^

Good concept but numbers seems to be a bit high, and the synergie with spellcaster heroes is too big. (imo)

The only synergy with spellcasters is the ultimate which reduces Magic Resistance to almost fatal levels. Which may seem imba but do take note that he kills himself in the process.

Still thinking about a nerf though.

1st skill:
the effects of Arcane Mine is applied during it is activated(i mean planted, as it is a mine), or after it is burst/explode?

Ultimate:
800 max mana burnt - which mean the unit will lose 800 mana + 480 hp right? dont you think it is too imba? does this deal magical damage? at least Techies suicide deal physical damage, thus reduced by armor...and block by Ethereal thingy (Decrepify, Ghost Form and Ethereal Blade)...

First skill : Your mine are visible ? They don't explode like techies' mines ? If correct, they are not very useful...

Second skill :
You said in the table "120% of mana loss as damage" (at level 4) and under the table "The affected unit will only be damaged by half of the mana loss.".
So does the focused unit lose 120% (at level 4) or 60% of mana loss as damage ???

Third skill : Ok for the damage, but why it gives bonus mana to all units (ennemies and allies) ?

Kamikaze : Like techies' suicide but hit the mana. When you say mana burn you want to say that the ennemy will lose as much Hp as mana removed ?

I think you should balance your skills. And it's weird that a STR hero has one of the best INT gain in the game (only pugna has more).

1st Skill - Come come. Its obvious that they're invisible and that they explode. But sh*t... I'll add that info so that other people won't get confused.

2nd Skill - I'm too lazy to explain it more thoroughly. But for the sake of it. The unit affected by the skill will receive 60%. While the units around him will receive 120%.

3rd Skill - For synergy. Also I still think that the damage is a bit too high. So I gave it a drawback which probably isn't much of a drawback.

Ultimate - Yes, that's exactly what mana burn is. I still feel its imba though.

OH SHI--- I forgot to change his main attribute... My fault there. *nervous laughter* hehe

Yeah yeah. I get that a lot. His skills seem a bit too imba.

EDIT:
Actually I think STR is just right for him. I mean, he does have rather potent skills.
