Well, I just watch the post match, they say the only mistake Germany had was Podolski is not inside the goal, he was staying in the post when Puyol is doing the heading, and if he is inside, he might be able to save that goal

Well, that's one factor, I still say that Spain's consistency during the match, they had lots of goal chance, but fail to finish, but despite that, they still keeping their focus, and keep going on offensive, pushing Germany back

wow chill... i can't see anything problematic about the very soft kind of patriotism we got here at last. bild-leser will stay dumb, no matter what they read, and since özil was pretty much the man, it'll be quite hard to do some anti-muslim campaign there. what is ur problem with national unity and pride? do u still see nazism behind every single flag? everyone wants to belong somewhere and i am happy to be german.

I'm chilled, I just like to use the opportunity to spread some propaganda and stir up a discussion. You might have noticed that all of these were Anti-German / Radical Left material, neither of which positions I support, except for the basic critique of German National Pride. Or any National Pride for that matter, I'm strongly opposed to any form of nationalism/patriotism.

But I don't really understand how the already big, and growing, anti-Muslim tendencies in Germany - and Europe as a whole, for that matter - managed to pass by you unnoticed? A lot of people in Germany already hold strong resentments against Muslims. Our Government and media are greatly helping that image thirve with "MUSLIM=TERRORIST!!!"" fearmongering of the finest sort. And that the situation in Europe as a whole is bad should be obvious, looking at Belgium banning headscarves, a sixth of Dutch votes going to a far-right anti-Muslim party and Switzerland banning Minarets.

And yes I see nationalism (I'll use it as a synonym for patriotism, since it really isn't much different) as problematic, and that includes every kind of nationalism. Where do you draw the line between so-called "soft nationalism" and fullscale nationalism?

The far right has been steadily gaining popularity, our media has greatly helped popularize anti-European resentments. Just look at the Greece-hate in pretty much every mainstream media, usually with the accusation made that they are "robbing us off" (given, this was also done to raise acceptance for the reduction social services and the public sector). I've tackled the Anti-Muslim situation already, and you should know that xenophobia usually rises when the employment rate drops and social standards are lowered.

So, in the midst of all this, do you really think we need a nation wide "GERMANY IS SO GREAT" wave? I certainly don't, and I'm fearful of the future if the situation stays like this. No Nazi-paranoia involved at all. However, right now, it seems like it's only getting worse.

PS: @Aduh: BILD is a german tabloid, notorious for shitty journalism, sensationalism, and a not-so-subtle right wing/xenophobist attitude.

atm i see the far left gaining more popularity than the far right. violence against representants of the state are increasing, as well as the political influence of the left wing in general. i am familiar with the mechanics of socially and economically critical situation, yet too much comparison between past and future is pointless.

we don't need a national hurray wave but i and many other people are fed up with our constant self-castration represented the best by angela merkel. germany is a good country to live in despite all those drawbacks of which u named a few. if we aren't convinced of what our nation represents, how shall we convince others of our values etc? if we don't believe in our potential, how shall we make germany a better place?
