Again, models taken away are really a few, and can simply not be included on the final available models, or be added, and then eventually removed if they are going to a hero suggestion.
There you have a picture showing several heroes with their alternative models; do you really think that, for instance, Mannoroth can eventually became a hero (the green Pit Lord), having Pit Lord on the game? they are almost exactly the same! they only have a different colour palette. Other alternative models are slightly more different, like Chen's and Thrall's; they are quite akin, but if Thrall were to be an individual hero, you could just remove it from the alternative models' list. About your other comment; how could this be abused? Thou i still agree that changing the model all the time would cause some confusion. For solving that, maybe the -alt command could only be used before the first creep wave spawns? It'd be similar to -ah command.

Ok...the tinting is fine since that will be easy to code, but the alternative models is a bit harder and would require a bit too much effort I think. T-up for tinting but t-down for bonus models.

The tint part has been suggested here:
http://www.playdota.com/forums/255959/pimp-your-hero/ The Model part has been suggested here: http://www.playdota.com/forums/25532...me-so-why-not/ But as I T-UPed both of them and your sugegstion looks better in terms of presentation (and you have both in one): T-UP

It should actually take as much work as it took for me to write the table, but writing the model's path instead of the name, and instead of a table, using a trigger similar to Tint (as Tint is changing the fields Graphic - Tint Colour (Red), Graphic - Tint Colour (Green), Graphic - Tint Colour (Blue)), but changing the field Graphic - Model File instead.
I presumme that the -tint command could be written on a single trigger, saving the 3 RGB values from the inputted -tint RR GG BB; on the other hand, the -alt command would too requite one trigger, but after saving the imputed number, would need to check the current model, and see which model corresponds to the alternative number written. Yes, would be longer, but for sure commands like -switch, -swap, and of course every single game mode are tremendously longer; this is a work for a weekend :P

T-down. DotA is no ingame Editor. Dont destroy the heroes looks pls. Never is black. If you dont like this (what Id understand), suggest to change it. But then for everybody. This overcustomizing sucks.
I advise you to have a try in Mapping.

I did have my try on mapping. But i see no why this couldn't be accepted, having commands like -water and -weather already ingame, and the alternative courier models. It's EXACTLY the same.

T-UP for tinting.
But with the alternative model etc, there are already method of doing this, but localised. So they only appear different on your screen, by using a similiar method to Dota Theme Manager. Making these changes, like DTM doesn't effect gameplay either. So if people really want to change the way heroes look, they can just do it themselves locally on their computers. I can give screenshots if you want. |

I'm familiar with the concept, don't worry. Still, that is much more complex and "permanent", and quite not user-friendly. Anyone can use -water commands, and in a big extent, -weather commands (many non-english speaking people has problems with spelling moonlight for instance :P but it's not that of a trouble).
Changing models within the PC is definitely more worksome (FOR THE USER) than typing -alt #.

Time consuming, semi-permanent (you have to change things back to revert it), not user-friendly, and you'r directly modifying WC3's files for it, when it can simply be added with a short command, available for noobs and skilled ones on computing alike, without any MSI, without modifying any game files, without causing any gameplay change with it, and giving players variety.
Now the cons are..? That someone needs to sit and write the code? every single thing added to the game has the same con then, and everything that was implemented, WAS implemented even with it, so.. :P

If it can be coded to be a user-only change, i wouldn't mind. Anyway, i'd still like it if it were global.
