Or you could set .w3g file which is your replay to be read by "war3 frozen throne" |

To watch a replay I would have to save the replay, then drag it into the replay folder. How could I set .wcg file?

Try this: Right click any replays and go to properties, then click Change under Opens with, and find the war3.exe then apply.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I have the same issue and it isn't asnwered. Reinstalling could work, but I just got a new computer and I don't have my war3 CD here. What I did was I just roughly copied the game folder and registry from the older computer The game itself works perfectly, just .w3g files aren't associated to any program.
Opening it with any of the normal warcraft files (Warcract III.exe, Frozen Throne.exe, War3.exe) didn't work, it just opens the game (doesn't start loading the replay). I assume that during installation, these replay files are automatically associated with the game somehow, but I believe it can be done manually. If anyone has such knowledge, I'd appreciate it, thx. |

Extract this rar file.
Open the .reg file using a text editor (eg, Notepad). Edit the warcraft 3 path if this is not correct for you. run the reg file. Note: instead of regular one slash (/) in path, you have to use double slash (//).

(note, it opens, just doesn't load the replay). Edit: Also, the replay icon isn't proper as well unless I remember it wrong, it looks like a blank paper with small Frozen throne icon in the middle. Did you make this config file yourself or did you use the one you already had? Maybe you missed some association? I really have no deep knowledge of this, sorry Edit 2: Fixed it, I just changed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE for HKEY_CURRENT_USER, as I noticed that that was the standard path where Windows 7 made their associations when assigning unknown file types. Thanks a lot for your help CvP, wouldn't've found out it was done in classes by myself (mainly because English isn't my native language and I didn't know what they meant by classes in registry). Well, thank you very much saves me a lot of trouble and I learned something new ^^Edit 3: Adding the additional registry along with CvP's, if anyone else has the same problem, use both of those and you should be fine. Make sure edit your war 3 path to correct installation folder. More on that above in CvP's post. |
