How Hero Suggestion Should Look

There are many suggestions that look good. I enjoy reading them and help with balancing them. But there are many suggestions made that put me off. Written in a very basic way without any tables or tabs. They look terrible, you don't know what is where and you are trying to fit for example cooldown with 3rd level of a spell. Only after focus will you find it. I wanted to make a guide on how hero suggestions should look, suggest some template, say what attribute gives what for those who don't know.

0. Before We Start

What are the things that hero suggestions should have?

Name place, Model place, Skills Icons with Command Icons.
Advanced Statistic, Skills, Synergies, Changelog and Credits.

1. Advanced Statistics
______________________________________________

As you know, heroes have a few primary things like Hit Points, Mana Points, Armor, Attack, Agillity etc.
I will tell you how to count what and which gives you what.

Primary Attribute
  • Increase the hero's attack damage by 1 per point of the attribute
Strength
  • Increases the Max HP of the hero by 19 hit points
  • Increases the HP regeneration of the hero by 0.03 HP per second
Agillity
  • Increases the hero's armor by 0.14 points per point of agility.
  • Increases the hero's attack speed by 1% per point of agility
Inteligence
  • Increases the hero's max Mana by 13
  • Increases the hero's Mana regeneration by 0.04 points per second

Attack/Cast Animation0.3/0.7These numbers show us how much time the hero needs to cast spell (0.3) and how much time the full animation takes to finish.
Base attack speed1.7It's very simple. Number 1.7 shows that hero need 1.7 second to attack. But there is no include agillity, remember each point of agillity increase attack speed by 1%
Missile Speed900Again simple thing. Projectile thrown by ranged hero has some speed. This speed is measured on the same scale as movement speed.

Hit PointsHP is calculated by a simple rule(Str*19)+150
Mana PointsMP is very similarInt*13

Ryld marks the target with invisible shrouds. Shrouds can be marked on only one target with cap of 6 at last spell level. Target doesn't know he is the target of shroud.

Notes:
  • Shroud is invisible.
  • Only one target can be affected by shroud.
  • If Ryld use shroud on another hero, shrouds are disappearing from previous target.
  • If enemy die cause of Ryld shrouds are disappearing. If not shrouds are existing.




By attaching shrouds on target Ryld gains advantage over an enemy.
Ryld has much advantage when enemy doesnt see him, doesnt see anything, cannot cast spells cause of silence. Only way to survive is run away.
Ryld is Shadow Walker. Shadows is thing that are everywhere so he can from everywhere blink to his target and attack from behind. After disable enemy he's attacking him quickly with more damages cause of shrouds. Ryld always see target so he can wait for good time to "denied" enemy.
This three skills are deadly together. After blink He changes form that makes target silenced.
This skill is only improving everything else. Its good way to maximalize damages, speed, or reduce cooldown of spells.

Ryld is alone warrior. He can easy kill one choosen target. That is his pros. Cons is that he cannot be good against gang for himself for example. 
His best allies are Mirana, Ezalor, Axe, etc. Those heroes helps him escape from gangs and battles within he would die.

His worst enemies are heroes that can silence him fast. For example Trax or Silencer. His stun is only 0.5s so he can only invoke shrouds in this time, if he do that too late he lost much of damages for few seconds. In this time enemy allies can help him and that is worst.
All heroes that are disablers are worst for Ryld.

This is harder than before because of many tables. As I wrote before, table is separated by "|". I wrote in this code three levels of Advanced Statistic. Starting, 16'th lvl, and 25'th lvl. To fully write your hero use Notepad. It's the best way to do this.

To change primary attribute swap colors orange/lightblue and add at the end of link -c.jpg. For example:

4506 seconds1000N/AN/ACap of shroud 6. For each shroud Ryld have +5 ias, +6 damage against target.

Notes:
  • Shroud is invisible.
  • Only one target can be affected by shroud.
  • If Ryld use shroud on another hero, shrouds are disappearing from previous target.
  • If enemy die cause of Ryld shrouds are disappearing. If not shrouds are existing.

At the begining are icons. My hero suggestion has subskills for the first skill so there are two icons. Just swap you link with that. After that are: Type of Spell, Target of Spell and Hotkey.
Again after that is the normal description of the spell. What he does etc.
Now we are at whole table of numbers. There are four lines which are four levels of spell. Between "|" are: Mana, Cooldown, Cast Range, AoE, Duration, Effects. Each line has the same but for another level of spell.
Ultimate spell has just one line less.
At end of the spell description are notes.

You should use them for writing mechanics things about spells like what damage type the skill has or the physical effects of the skill i.e. knockback, delivery system.
To note something use table and then [list][/list]. Each note is separated by Enter->[*]. Got it?

Synergies
I know this is useless and you don't like to complete it etc, but this is very important. Not every skill has good a description so synergies show users how the combinations of spells work. The same for hero and items. It helps users imagine your hero with another and with some equipment. Right?

Ryld is alone warrior. He can easy kill one choosen target. That is his pros. Cons is that he cannot be good against gang for himself for example. 
His best allies are Mirana, Ezalor, Axe, etc. Those heroes helps him escape from gangs and battles within he would die.

His worst enemies are heroes that can silence him fast. For example Trax or Silencer. His stun is only 0.5s so he can only invoke shrouds in this time, if he do that too late he lost much of damages for few seconds. In this time enemy allies can help him and that is worst.
All heroes that are disablers are worst for Ryld.

About changelog? If your hero suggestion is good or is bad it shows users what you changed here. Fuck... for what I'm saying that, you know that...

oh dude, this is MASSIVE. You said yourself that you don't like to read un-formatted suggestions; think about someone reading this from top to bottom. Narrow aspects down; use tabs, separate different subjects as "How to format your suggestion"; "how to calculate base statistics"; etcetcetc.. because this is as unreadable as the worst suggestion you've ever seen :P

No mean to offense, you just need to work on it more, and it may become a good guide ^^

I am having trouble with 1 aspect of creating a Hero Guide. If I want to put text to the right of a table. How would I do so? It seems nqb is the answer? But I am not sure, please help. For example: See basic info/background of Rumpelstiltskin and how sloppy it is.

umm. sorry i have a decent hero idea but i really dont want to spend hours memorizing text codes and punching them in, THE finding URLs of all the picture and filling in all the text. Ur walls of code are intimidating to someone wit coding knowledge less than that of a cat. plz make smaller, less terrifying.

Hey, I know where your coming from man. You don't have to understand everything though. The guides did help me learn how to construct tables and tabs

The message editor alone will walk you through a good bit of hero creation. But it won't make it look pretty.
[start], could be a number of commands
[/finish] finishes the command:
For example: {color} "your text" {/color} will make your text that color. Replace the { } with [ ] though, i did to avoid program recognizing color command. Please view { } as a substitution for [ ] for simplicity purposes.

Let's say you want to make a table:
1:2
2:4
3:6
4:8
To start the table type the [ ]. The | is to the right of ] key. The | serves the purpose of separating your columns.
{Table}"1st row 1st column"|"1st row 2nd column"|"1st row 3rd column.

If you want to add a second row. You need to go to a new line (press enter). So adding a second row would look something like this:

{Table}"1st row 1st column"|"1st row 2nd column"|"1st row 3rd column".
"2nd row 1st column"|"2nd row 2nd column"|"2nd row 3rd column" {/table}

When you want to end your table, follow it with the end command {/table}.

Now, just replace every instance of { } with [ ], and it looks like this:

Yea it took me an hour to figure out it couldn't be done when I came to the realization that you really cant do it like newspaper, its just not in the mechanics of the program script, or whatever it is. I found a way around it by adding information to the table. Guess and Check self-teaching ftw.

This type of template make harder to compare each skills because have to click one at a time, unlike older template where we can see all in one time make easier to compare skills. And it is confusing too.

So True! People remember about a 1/3 of what they read. How are people going to understand hero skills/synergy if the 4 abilities are each on a different page... "Oh crap I forgot what that skill does let me go back to that other page". "Oh Crap, was it Holy Blessing, or Holy strength"... This is terrible, its just much easier to have everything on the same page(4skills) so your brain can see the big picture and grasp the entire concept.


Examine the skills tab on either of my heros and tell me you can't read a half-3/4 of a page and I'll shut up.
