Comment: this is what I use to burn ISO files to CD's/DVD's and it never failed me, it helped me to install Windows 7 RC and TinyXP, this is a wonderful alternative to that costy complicated Nero.

Personal Note:Extremely useful for us G&T geeks who frequently need to fix a friend's virus-laden computer or simply to find out what's wrong with it. It contains most of the free software mentioned in this thread too.
Why do I recommend this over other Live CD environments? Because it's the only one which is DOS/Windows and not Linux based =/

Personal note: For Chat Programs. It's a self-proclaimed "All-in-One" IM program. You need to create a Palringo account, but that's free. You set up your Palringo account and then you add the IM service(s) you want to use through Palringo. For instance, my MSN has been playing up on me, so I use Palringo to chat to my MSN and Yahoo buddies at the same time. Very clean and simple interface (for mac it is, not sure about what it look like in Windows).

Definition: Another program by Piriform (makers of Ccleaner). This also has scheduled scanning like Smart Defrag by IObits. It also shows more details about disk usage and displays, and has an even more streamlined UI and display, a files list, as well as a search feature. Many may prefer this interface over Smart Defrag.
Personal Note: it seems to be a bit slow though. but i haven't tested it extensively so my data is limited on this matter.

Description: It basically works just like Torrent but easier to use. It can download Musics, Videos, Movies (but using Torrent is better), small games like Flash and pictures. It also has a Chat zone where you can chat with other via groups. The more people online, the faster it downloads. Some of the downloaded files maybe corrupted or bad but most of the time, it is good.
Personal note : I really like this downloader mostly because of its easy usage. Most of the Vids I download at Ares are way better than in the TVs. I rarely use the Chat function though.

Personal note: If you download a lot of stuff, and most of it is from Megaupload, Rapidshare, or some other fileserver, this program will make your life a lot easier. It automatically manages multi-archive downloads; the only thing you need to do is provide the links (which JDL can read directly from the Clipboard) and agree to the T.O.S. of the provider, and it will automatically check if all the files are online, inform how much disk space it will need, and start downloading the files. You like to download videos out of Youtube? no problem, JDownloader can do it, and you can choose several formats, including audio-only MP3. A must have. And by the way, it works only with those kind of sites, so it doesn't get in the way of any other regular download, for which you can use the manager of your choice.
Con: As is written completely on Java, it can use a large amount of memory. Still, give it a try, it is well worth it.

Personal note: What happens when The Pirate Bay and all other torrent sites are eventually shut down? It's coming, and sooner or later there will be no public torrent sites available. This is where software like Tribler takes over. The magnet links in Tribler cannot be shut down, because unlike public torrent sites, all the magnet links in Tribler are decentralized, shared between users just like a torrent would be. This has a small drawback of using slightly more bandwidth, but in the long run it's worth it.

Personal note: I consider Vuze to be the superior torrenting program. It has (what I think are) better features than most other applications. You can search for torrents from within the application, it can handle torrents the traditional way (download them a browser, open them with an app) and it can play them as they download. I recently switched from µTorrent to Vuze and haven't looked back.
However, it won't do simultaneous downloads =/ Other than that it works like a charm.

The graphics are awesome, cartoon style, the maps have different skin so you can enjoy sereval terrains, and the best thing, in my opinion, the ban system. You get banned for a couples days if you leave or if you go afk. And when you leave a game, you're forced to reconnect to that game until the game is finished! Beautiful.

And that's what this is all about, right; finding the programs that best suit you, as an individual.
That being said, Xion has a stable database of skins (who cares if there is not five million of them, almost all of them are good-looking anyway) and you can make your own skins to it too, if you know how...

Description:This image retouching program allows you to adjust an image and apply filters. Filters allow you to adjust brightness, contrast, dyed, saturation, gamma correction, and also artistic filters include watercolor, pastels, Indian ink, pointillism and puzzle effect. PhotoFiltre uses two types of selection tools. The first type uses automatic shapes - rectangle, ellipse, triangle, rhombus. The second type is a lasso and polygon tool. They both allow a customized form by drawing a shape by hand or using a series of lines. Every selection can be saved as a separate file.
Personal note: Great program, tiny in size, gives a wide range of options for editing or quick making of pictures (e.g. banners, signatures). You will learn to use it by using it.

Personal Review: This application is shareware -- you have to pay to get its full potential, but even the unregistered version is actually enough for you to get the improved performance of your computer. What this application does is taking care of memory and disk cache management which Windows couldn't do it effectively. There are also some Windows optimization options which can greatly improve the speed of disk opreations and GUI responsiveness. I had used Cacheman for more than five years before I migrated to Linux a few weeks ago, and I was really satisfied with this small application. Oh, I forget to mention that Cacheman runs in the background and occupies less than 2 MB of RAM, which is really a negligible amount for today's systems.
