Default Complete the Ability IV: Retrieval of the Fame


My partner has not responded in two weeks. I made an ability with specifications outlined by my partner. I can post it, but I would much rather use it for a future competition.

Sign me out for this competition. I am not going to bother with team-style.

Alterdevil and I both have exams during this period and might not be able to participate in this contest. I don't know the exact date of his exams, but mine are on the 8th to the 14th (Deadline for the skill is the 12th). So, if Alterdevil posts our skill, that is our joint skill. If a skill isn't posted by the 12th we're gonna have to forfeit.

Voting in any type of contestanting has got no sense, so I removed that completly, so no voting this time. And I should solve upcoming situation somehow, cause there's planty pairs W/O entry and it seems that the didn't started communication yet, so I'll probably should come up with an ellegant solution OR I could rage about contestant beeing silly ****** that is so ***** up by screwing up this whole competion and than leaves.

I know it's not you fault, but why on the Earth don't you told that b4? I would just give another people chance, but what should I do now, when it's few days b4 Phase 1 ends.

And this system is not broken, just contestant don't do what are they supposed to do. And the time given was enough. It's just 1 ability, not entire hero. Also see no way to make tournament works and this just suck.

Concept:
This skill's main concept derived from two ideas. Firstly, the idea of creating a field by connecting wards that have been placed earlier. Secondly, the effect developed from the famous Bermuda Triangle.

The basic skill just plants a ward.
The subskill is for activation purposes. If there are 3 wards in close proximity, they will be linked to a Bermuda Triangle, creating a field inside the triangle. Every enemy outside this Triangle will have no vision whatsoever of things that are inside of the triangle. Every enemy inside this Triangle will have no vision whatsoever of things that are outside of the Triangle.
Skill:


Summon Obscuring Ward

Ability Type: Active
Targeting Type: Point

[Hero] plants an invisible magic-immune ward. 3 wards max. New wards can only be placed within 1200 range of already existing wards. Wards have a subskill that self-destroys the ward.

Level 1 - Creates an Obscuring Ward
Level 2 - Creates an Obscuring Ward
Level 3 - Creates an Obscuring Ward

Casting Range is 300
Duration is until activated, destroyed or killed.


Cooldown: 0
Mana Cost: 30

Subskill



Bermuda Triangle

Ability Type: Active
Targeting Type: Instant

Activates all of the placed wards, making them visible and granting them a stackable AoE slow aura. The wards get linked and interfere with the sight capabilities of enemies. If three wards exist, a field is created within the links. Enemies outside this field will have no vision of things that are inside of the field and vice versa. Furthermore, enemies inside this Triangle won't be able to see you and your allies, unless you attack or cast a skill.

Level 1 - -5% MS and - 8 AS aura
Level 2 - -8% MS and - 12 AS aura
Level 3 - -11% MS and - 16 AS aura

Duration is 5/7/9 seconds
AoE of aura is 600

Cooldown: 100/80/60
Mana Cost: 200



Notes:
  • Wards are magic-immune.


Explanation:

IMPORTANT:
If you want to judge this skill, reading this explanation could be essential for understanding the skill and its effects correctly. Compare it to Panda's Primal Split or Ancient Apparition's Ice Blast. There's too little space in the in-game skill description to really understand what the skill does. You need to try it out in-game or read some further informations in forums or guides and Imo the same goes for this skill.
a) Explanation of the Wards:
The wards are summoned by the main skill "Summon Obscuring Ward", which does nothing else at all.
The wards are invisible as long as they are inactive.
The wards are magic-immune and can only be killed by attacking them (I forgo adding exact numbers, but they are killed after X attacks, probably something around 5-8).
The wards have a skill themselves, which can be casted by clicking on them and then clicking on the skill. This skill is called "Self-destruct" and instantly destroys the ward. Nothing special, no MC or CD, just instant destruction of the targeted ward.
After the first ward was summoned, the next ward can only be summoned within 1200 range of the first ward. After 2 wards were summoned, the final ward can only be summoned within 1200 range of both existing wards. When trying to summon a ward further away, an error message will appear and nothing happens.
Only 3 wards can exist at the same time.
b) Explanation of the Activation:
All the wards activated are revealed to anyone on the map.
All the wards receive the stackable slow aura, slowing the MS and AS of enemies in a 600 AoE around them.
Dependent on how many wards have been summoned prior to the activation, different things will happen:
Case 1: Only one ward has been summoned.[INDENT]The ward can't be linked with any other ward, so no field will be created.
The only effect this will have is that the ward will activate its aura.[INDENT]
Case 2: Two wards have been summoned.[INDENT]The two wards will be linked.
The link will obstruct the line of sight for enemies.[INDENT]
Case 3: Three wards have been summoned. [INDENT]The wards are all linked with each other and create a field. Enemies outside this field will have no vision of things that are inside of the field and vice versa. Furthermore, enemies inside this Triangle won't be able to see you and your allies, unless you attack or cast a skill.[INDENT]

c) Explanation of the sight obstruction created by the two linked wards:
I think pictures make this clearer than lots of words.
This is how it would work:

The link simply blocks the vision on everything on the other side of the link, the angle being determined by your own position.
It's actually pretty similar to how trees block vision, just this time it would be like a line of invisible trees you can't look through, but walk through.
This could be done via dummy units that have an occluder height greater than 0. This is just a general picture of how it works:
d) Explanation of the field's effect created by the three linked wards:
First of all, here's a picture showing where the field is created:

It shows how the links between the wards enclose the field.

Now what happens is that any enemy units inside this field will lose all their vision of things outside of the field. This includes allied heroes, buildings, creeps, wards and anything whatsoever. The only sight left for them is their own vision and the allied vision of allied units inside the field.
Furthermore, they won't be able to see their enemies that are inside the field, i.e. your allies, unless your allies attack or cast a skill.
For enemies outside of the field things are the exact opposite. They won't see anything inside the field, including allied heroes, buildings, creeps, wards and anything whatsoever.

This effect makes casting targeted skills on allies or enemies on the other side of the field impossible. It will also prevent your enemies from tping to allied buildings/units outside of the field.
e) Tactical note on the slow aura:
You might be asking yourself why I added a slow aura.
Placing the wards in close vicinity to each other will make the field smaller, but results in a stacking slow aura, making it again harder to leave.
Placing the wards far away from each other will make the slow aura unstackable, but the field is larger.
It depends on what is more important to you. Against blinking heroes a larger field might be necessary, but in other situation a smaller field might prove very useful.
