Guide section and the learn the game button don't suffice?
Or should they select select a couple of guides to help the new players? Like Val's Pretty guide to Every Hero and Laning, Hero Roles etc. ? I don't think warding etc. should be linked already since it's considerd and above average skill... and this section looks like more directed towards newer players. |

Yeah instead of making 4/5 threads and so much , just make a small manual / book.

Good idea, a PDF document, written with LaTeX of course...would be nice!

I like the idea and in the manual the basics of playing the game like last hitting and stuff.

Gameplay manual would be nice
Though it's easier to get it colaborated first before releasing it in .pdf, it's easier to be edited I'd be happy to review it

Why not use the questions and pointers that will be produced from this thread in that downloadable manual?

I agree, also, I think we need to put the term that is often used on DotA such as
If those are included and are explained nicely, it would make a great manual Also, advanced section might be useful to be add, or made into another document

im on board with the manual idea. dota is a hard game to pick up, especially as it gets further and further developed. i think it would be really beneficial to have a downloadable "how-to-dota" guide. Also might want to make a hard-copy for sale with DotA2

Yea, maybe we can put all the best hero guides, misc guides and other guides and gameplay, items, how to use things or etc. Aside from .pdf, we need also .doc or some .html manuals so we can view the manual online/offline.

But it needs to be updated in a regular basis if in .pdf for hero guides.

New players most likely feel overwhelmed by those thousands of links which are to be mentioned regarding DotA.
So a .pdf would most likely be most effective

I think a nice thing would be some sort of list of easy heroes to learn to play, as this is certainly frequently asked by newbies.

On the "welcome to playdota" thread, warcraft 3 is listed as a video game - it is in fact a computer game. Only warcraft 2 was released on video game platforms (that I know of).
