[Icon] Diffusal Blade lvl2 / Dagon lvl2-5

I'm not really familiar with photoshopping and stuff, but since noone has suggested it before, I'd like to open a thread to discuss this matter.

Diffusal Blade lvl1 and lvl2 look the same. There should be a minor change to the icon after upgrading, which expresses the power of the item.

The concept is to be able to tell the difference, which you can do easily in case of Necronomicon.

Some may argue that this is unnecessary but I see it differently. You don't really buy lvl2 Diffusal Blade unless you have run out of Purge charges. Keeping track on enemy's situation is a must, and you may need to be able to tell how many charges the hero in question has left overall.

So because a lot of people have been bitching about the fact that Dagon does not have different icons and that settles the whole thing about Diffusal, why not make icons for Dagon too? heh

I don't think the icon looks that good. Also, the effect shoul always be yellow on Diffusal and purple on Magina.
Basically I like the idea, but a simple recolor won't look good.

It's better to make diffu a bit bigger than just recoloring.

Yeah, something like that, or just some recoloration along the edges. Just enough to make it recognizable. Obviously, it would be best if the shape and main colors remain the same.

Almost there. But yellow/gold is far too similar to the blade itself.

IMO this is how mana burn nools like. See the pink and yellow around the glaive? That's what we need. Now Ez_Mystery if you can make such a background for (pink and yellow) that would be the best. This looks much more like a holy sword.

Actually, you're quite right. The Diffusal Blade effect (upon hitting units with mana) shows it's in the pink/violet spectrum.

So recoloring the blue parts on the icon to violet would be enough.

Yes. And maybe Dagon's icon is also a subject to change. Which could be quite simple, like recoloring the bubbles around the scepter from 1 to 5, say, to yellow. And it's already easy to tell if you're not colorblind. lol

I really don't get your comment. He just asks what people think about a change and you reply with "ugly"! How can a proposed discussion be ugly? I guess you don't like the idea itsself, but even a simple T-down would make more sense than the rest of the stuff you said. I really don't have any problems with your comments, it is your opinion at all, but this post was a little bit "missing the target", since it doesn't really refers to the topic.

Dagon has 5 upgrades and yet it doesn't have a different icon for each upgrade. As such, the same could be said here. I have to T-Down this one, sorry.
