Default [FX] Degen Aura


Implemented! Thanks for all the comments and congratulations!

Hey guys,

Degen Aura got no aura graphics atm. Obviously, that sucks.

I had a bunch of ideas, all with complicated runes forming an aura and stuff (the Textures\Rune1d.blp texture has been suggested often for example), but I thought for an aura with such a small AoE we shouldn't have have an intricate rune but rather something subtle.
So if I got that right degen comes from degeneration, and the easiest way to display that would be to make it look like Omniknight drains the energy from units around him.

Sadly, it is difficult to show this kind of emitter in a screenshot.
Here's the best one I made:



I highly recommend checking the testmap to know how it looks, the screenshot is not representative at all.

If you don't want to check it, but are experienced with modeling:
It is a particle emitter using Textures\ShockwaveWater1.blp tinted white-yellow/yellow/white-yellow (roughly 0.5/1/1->0/1/1->0.5/1/1 B/G/R), scaling from 200 to 75 with -50 gravitation.

The MSI is 314 byte, that's about 1/50 of an icon for an item.

I'd be glad for any kind of feedback as long as it is constructive.

How would you make it more holy? It already got "holy color", thought that was more than enough.

I doubt it, and it would look quite bad if it did. The Degen Aura AoE is fairly small, but that doesn't mean it should be outlined.

AoE would be 300.
The FX starts invisible with 200 AoE, slowly becoming visible until it's 125 AoE, then getting invisible again until it is 75 AoE, where they technically disappear. That makes it "look like" an AoE of about 150-175.

I tried an AoE of 300, but it did not look good at all.

The effect itsself doesn't look bad, but I think its somehow too big (Hard to explain, though. Maybe because all aura effects are that size, but cover a much larger AoE... Don't know.). I think it wouldn't hurt if the size could be reduced a bit.

Well, without an aura effect it is great... also... why does it need to be a "holy" aura... just cause Omni is a holy knight it doesn't mean that his aura needs to be holy too. All in all I give it a try. T-UP!! But I still think that Omni would be better without an aura. Well, we'll see.
