I pledge myself to following the code of conduct and helping new players understand heroes and items more.
Who am I kidding? I'll be my usual dickish self. This is a joke. |

Well imo the problem lies not only with the veteran players beeing unfriendly and elitist (which most are) but also with the newbies thinking they`re the sh*t after 2-3 months of playing.
If i ever come across players that want to learn something and admit that they could improve i gladly help but most players think theyre better than you anyway and wont accept any advice. For the real starters i think a training ground kind of thing would be useful. by that i mean a place where the noobs can train/play with some more experienced players without getting flamed all the time. Could be organized by some motivated forumers. |

I personally like the hostility. Keeps me on my toes >_>
On a more practical note, the lack of solid teaching does separate the Vlads Lancer nubtards from the people who actually know what they're doing. If everyone was educated, it would be harder to judge people. |

Have you EVER wondered why the community is so bad?
Wouldn't that be the FIRST step if you want to change it? If you want to change something you have to start with the cause and not it's effect. The reason why the community is so bad is because of the game itself. In DotA you heavily rely on your team. If your team feeds someone hard, even if you've had a good game all your efforts will be ruined and you WILL get angry. It is completely natural to feel mad when you see all your efforts have been wasted. You win your lane, you farm good but oh shit, enemy SF has lothar and bkb minute 20 because he destroyed your sniper mid lane. And you also have the cases where they leave the game after feeding. It's often worse than the previous scenario because you're playing 4v5. No one likes to play 4v5. And you also have the cases where noobs think they're good and will flame you " WHY DIDNT YOU HELP ME???? " when you clearly know you couldn't have helped them. End of story = you get fucking pissed and flame. And like in all games, there are 80% noobs 20% good players. This results in a horrible community. In other words, you cannot fix that problem unless you start punishing flamers and leavers. If you take CS for example, when I played it at least, the community was much better. In CS someone can have 50-0 he won't have any advantage over you if you're 5-1. He won't rape your team alone and if someone leaves the game, it makes almost no difference. |

GTFO with your savior complex, please. Flaming is a part of the game. Shatter or deal with it.

^The OP didnt say this... Some other poster in another forum said it. Which makes it weaker, obviously he doesnt want to put in the effort.

you can't change the community of a game like dota , naroblas told you why, i don't give a fk if you or ur mom is gonna ban me if i insult someone, if i play perfectly and lose 5 games in a row because of retards i have every right to insult people, and if they take me serious over a virtual game its THEIR problem.
I personally miss my "nooby" times on dota, was fun back then , thinking that i can win all by myself and wanting to improve to make up for other ppl's suckiness while having fun and flaming internets meanwhile, but then i came down to the realization that dota is way too team based for such thing to happen, a small thing such as if ur witch doctor knows how to harass can change the game, if he knows how to u get freefarm u get ur item 5 min earlier and u go 20-0, if he doesnt know u die cuz u dont have ur item and instead 5 min earlier u get it 40 min later |
