[Item] Orb of Corruption

This item is inspired by SeaErChin's Orb of Corruption, but because this has nothing in common with his suggestion besides the name and the -armor, I decided to open a new thread.



Orb of Corruption - 1250

Causes attacks to place a buff that reduces armor by 4
Buff lasts 3 seconds
Orb effect

This item would get part of the desolator recipe, which obviously loses its recipe price. The 50 gold more spent is to counter-balance the better built-up. In comparison to desolators corruption this buff lasts two seconds less and reduces armor only by 4.

Some mathcraft:

(armor is assumed to be 8, your damage is 80)

( 0.06 * 8 ) / ( 1 + 0.06 * 8 ) = 32% reduction -> 54 effective damage
( 0.06 * 4 ) / ( 1 + 0.06 * 4 ) = 19% reduction after orb -> 65 effective damage

= 11 damage gained (Mithril hammer gives 24 damage for 1600)

(armor is assumed to be 4, your damage is 60)
( 0.06 * 4 ) / ( 1 + 0.06 * 4 ) = 19% reduction -> 49 effective damage
0% reduction after orb -> 60 effective damage

= 11 damage gained again

I think that´s a good deal, considering that you amplify the damage of your allies, too, and we all now synergies with corruption and bad armor values to have. Also you gain a good attack animation. And who knows, maybe Pugna would like it :> .

I think armor reduction is unique enough to justify a basic ingredient. We already got 2 different armor reduction items, and many people suggest items with the corruption orb. The thing is, they try to use Desolator as a part (which is fine), but that limits the price range of the new item.

Also I see nothing wrong with such items, as they bring tactical depth in terms of building an item. Esp in this case you rather buy the mithril first for deso if you expect being rice-farming, or you buy the orb first if you expect being heavy ganking... Maybe you first buy the orb but dont complete the deso because the game goes not the way you thought and you upgrade it to a cuirass later etc etc.

Agreed, kind of a waste to have an item that only goes in one recipe.

ofc it could be used for other new recipes too (just like Talisman of Evasion), but that´s not part of this suggestion. There are plenty of item suggestions based on deso though which could use the Orb instead, since they tend to be overly expensive/powerful because deso is already a strong component.

I like the idea, it's just like the talisman of evasion, transforming the script into a useful item - meaning that if it's a rough game you can buy the cheaper component first

This is a great idea. It would actually open up the game to a variety of -armor items other then deso and cuirass.
