Default [Cosmetic] Pit Lord's pit

What an ugly imported model (if it is) . . . Also, current one is 10x better!

Zirath got burned It's pretty nice IMO, and uses ingame effects. Better than current if you ask me.
Not to be imposing, but see if you like my versions better! This and that one.

Yours are better than mine, but then again you put a lot more work into it. I was just playing around.

OK well with your and OP's inspiration And because I really have nothing better to do when not homeworking/hanging.
Added this thread to my sig, any one of these sugs would really spice up Pit for 6.64

Too much effects, heroes and creeps will almost be invisible from too much cosmetics.

And there is nothing wrong with the current Pit, really!

Current pit is kinda obvious imo. I'd prefer if the animation in general was only visible to allies.

From which suggestion? I'm confused
Since everyone seems to like my improvements to the current tombstone effects, I'll develop that one further.
Hopefully this'll suit your taste more:

The centrepiece is more subtle and faint now, but still makes the pit much more cool IMO

EDIT: A friend of mine suggested I try casting on cliffs/slopes, cause the ladder WC3 buildings will adjust their height accordingly with a larger foundation, which would clearly be a problem.

The results, while not as bad as I thought, are still undesirable:

Is there a work-around for this?

The bone thorns are invisible now, apparently they won't show if you add some transparency to the model via triggers. I also added a casting effect to Pity's weapon to disguise the red fire with something more green (Demon Hunter+Skelly Mage missiles).

'close-up view'
Return of the tombstones! Vertex colors lowered so the effect's not so in-your-face. BTW in the testmap I lowered it even further than in these screenies, so just a heads up.

'normal top-down view'
That angle makes it look worse IMO; in reality the swirly bit covers the whole pit AoE.

Thoughts? I still prefer the other one, but pick your poison.
This looks cool and it gives that "eerie" theme of an area with malice I go for this one!

this one should not be changed imo, the pit of malice is meant to
1.awaken the dead bodies and make them evil {based on tombstones}
2.make the earth evil {based on roots}
so they/it will catch and hold the living who enter that area
that means no more special effects are needed

Have you guys forgotten the white things that sprout when it gets an enemy? It fits this animation wonderfully.

Agreed, I'd rather a bone thorn related animation gets in. I appreciate the positive feedback on my pit, but bear in mind the effect gets horrendously messed up at slopes/cliffs.

I'm liking it. A little bit of green inside wouldn't hurt either.

Before you say anything, I know what I am writing now, this file is REALLY big. But maybe we find someone to edit it and to decrease size, to use toby's great thingy in red. Check this model out.
