I think that the cracked client is possibly unable to update, but I did not try it yet...

In order to play you need a steam.dll from a beta tester.

ok thx i got another problem now... when i type "playdemo dendi1" it writes:

ERROR: demo network protocol 38 outdated, engine version is 40
Failed to read demo header.
] playdemo dendi10
CDemoFile::Open: couldn't open file dendi10.dem for reading.

or

] playdemo 6
CDemoFile::Open: couldn't open file 6.dem for reading.

I also managed to run replays but my 2y old scam computer has a stupid problem and crashes after a min with most new games in high res..

Anyway in order to run it just:

1)download official steam
2)let it do the upgrades
3)close steam
4)Run D2 and choose to block it with your firewall

also be sure to put the replay files into the dota 2 directory and not in the replay folder..

Edit: i can now run the client and replays in low res without my pc crashing but still streams looks nicer.. anyway its a nice opportunity to explore game functions

just don't run steam at all (or close it) before running the dota exe file and you should be fine (at least i am

Most of these steps are unnecessary. You just simply need to download the beta client from the youtube video (it's more updated than the previous leaked client). Then you just follow the steps provided below the video. I would also close Steam to be on the safe side.

Did you copy the .dem files to /dota 2 beta/dota?

Please make sure you did.
