Default You're next Syria

I understand that the lebanese are scared but it's not like Israel will invade without facing international opposition. Also I agree the whole region has some complex mechanisms able to trigger terrorism and the first victims are going to be the people living there.

I repeat myself, a lot of people don't want the war, but just be honest and look at the answers Assad is giving us, he doesn't help himself at all, whenever it comes to dictators, they seem to lack proper thinking, threatening the biggest firepower of this World, ignoring advice, forbidding international press, and many other actions ain't helping.

And when I first read the thread and few others, and I saw how StudyMan was ready to say how good his army was and how ready they were waiting for any western intervention I can't help thinking that this is tipically the worst answer you could give to someone threatening you, someone that has the power to rip you off and that won't hesitate to do if you give him the arguments to.

USA went to war in Iraq without french approval and the regime there was already fragilized, we paid the price of a blind media repression in their national channels just because we didn't agree with them.
But USA can't afford starting a war against Syria or Iran without its allies, and the best option you have remains diplomatic, not military, not threats.

@KamaSutra :
yeah and look africa, millions people are dying while we have simple solutions to avoid it. Thousands armenian died over the decades, and conflicts aren't only triggered by the West, I could give some exemples of massacres that happened in the East and in Asia. Unfortunately when it comes to International policy, the Nations are kinda looking where they have strategical interests.

US has its own fair share of vetos. In fact, since 1966, US has used its veto more times than all other 4 veto power nations combined.

it's not as easy as you described.

Not a bit.

and btw, "next" of what ?
you sound like a fool thinking that a bunch of extremists and hired mercenaries have any chance fighting the most powerful axis in the east section of the globe?

one lebanese politician described them as follows:
"Those people are like Mosquitos, they are just disturbing and that's it"

i totally agree.

from my personal point of view, as of the future of Syria and the Region:

1- International Military Interference, which will directly lead to a new world war, possible but i doubt it.
2- The situation continues as it is until the "rebels" are completely destroyed.

i can't see any third option.

the us has used over 60 veto's to stop any incrimination on israel.

when rice said she felt disgust regarding the slaughter in Syria, bashar al jaafari said that i hope you felt the same disgust in the 60 times ur country has used the veto against any decision incriminating to israel.

the comments in that article are hilarious.

If Lieberman likes war so much, why not go down to his local recruiter and sign himself and family members up. To my knowledge, none of the royal Liebermans have serve a day in uniform. This self-serving hypocrit works only for the greedy Military Industrial Complex and himself. To hell with our troops needlessly maimed and dead.
Quote:
We should not get involved in ANYMORE MIDEAST wars. Look where we are now as a result of our actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Lieberman, McCain and Graham are warmongers who are willing to do anything to protect Israel, why don't the three of them join the Israeli army and stop inflicting more damage on the US by involving us in the Mideast?
Quote:
hy didn't Joe arm himself during the Veitnam War, instesd of draft dodging?
Funny how all these Zionist/Neocns expect our non-Jewish Kids to fight for Israel when their own sons go to Wall Street and profit from their dad's war?
Once Again, American Christian kids will be sent to kill Arab Muslim kids for the benefit of Israeli Zionist kids.
Why? Because we Lemmings, the 97 ½% of us not Jewish, have allowed ourselves to be cast as bit players in this Orwellian tragedy-- orchestrated by those Israeli-Firstists/Neocons -- same wonderful folks who bought us the ill-fated Iraqi War.
i guess the americans have spoken for themselves.

America should stay out of the fight. Let thousands of Muslims kill thousands of Muslims. Celebrate the Religion of Peace as it self destructs!
it hurts me that christians are not even considered a part of this, when in fact, they are playing a major role in this.

That's the real problem, the world have no idea about the power and the role of the christians in Syria and Lebanon, There are like 4-5 million christians in Syria (please correct me if i'm wrong) and they play a very important role there, the lebanese parliament is split 50/50 muslim/christian, the lebanese government is split equally between christians/sunni/chiites, and the president of lebanon, by the constitution, is Christian maronite.

I can assure to every one here that any change in the region will not be at all in the favor of the christians in the area, of course once the sunni palestinians are officially settled in our lands (for the favor of Israel) after the regime in Syria turns Sunni, which will directly turn us into minorities, unfortunetly, very much like the christian minorities in Egypt, you can google and find out what happened and still happenning to them and the world never cared.

Wake up, it's so true that the only thing the US really care about is our zionist neighbors.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

The UN shouldn't use any military force against Syria, since that would only make things worse (look at Iraq). The key in this matter is negotiation and this should start within Syria itself, this way the least amount of lives will be lost and the country will still stay relatively stable. Luckily for them the negotiations have already started, or so I heard.

the negotiations have started a long time ago, hell the negotiations have even created a new constitution that i am not happy of.

but still this new constitution is a lot better in terms of political liberty and variety, it even ensures the right to protest, gives freedom to the media, and many things more.

i voted no on that constitution, for reasons a bit complex for me to explain here.

the problem is the people in the gulf keep stirring things up, they pay money, provide arms, and cause trouble, and therefor some people are not going for the "negotiation" road, well to be honest, those people were left behind, and they will go to the garbage of history.

i think it's over now, we're starting a new Syria in 4 days.

Sieges doesn't happen in a day.

The jews have poisoned their well, tired its people, spread lies and mistrust, cause "rebellions". To the point that people just don't care and just want to end it and call it GG. Subversion is a much more powerful and cheaper than a real war. The effect of a terrorist's threat is nothing compared to a terrorist's promise of peace.

Notice studymans posts from beginning to the end of the thread.

can you deny that in less than two years racism and hatred has been spread throughout the people of Syria?

the thing they did is take away the trust, and everything from there was a piece of caek!

but speaking today, when the armed rebels are fighting in damascus, i assure you, i've been been more proud of the Syrian army.
