The more I look at it, the DotA icons are the best, seriously!

Still DOTA2 Heroes > HoN Heroes

HoN portraits just gives me no idea what am I looking at and they look just too samiliar to me.

You're thinking wrong 90% of items are the same , for people coming HoN i can make difference list as yes some of those heroes are 1:1 ports but some have differences , same goes for some items/some of their prices.
