Default Invoker training

Hey guys,
As most of you should know Invoker got released for Dota 2 yesterday, and i am really eager to learn more about him. I am playing him in bot matches at the moment (don't want to be flamed in pubs for being bad) and i thought if any of you guys who have any experience with Invoker could go a match or 2 with me versus bots and give me some advice on how to play him. My steam username is mrdeath12345, feel free to add me and we can go play some matches together!

Cheers, AirHead

You must remember all combinations,that's the rule 1
Then it varies upon your playstyle,what you need in all builds are fast fingers

Try to do 3 skills combos. For example : EMP + Tornado + Chaos Meteor. Go for Aghanim and the for Mana regen such as Guinzoo, or Eul. When you have maxe up invoke, just random press qwe + r and use the spell, try to synergize them.

Default Re: Invoker training

Let me tell you my own way of playing him as an example
I start with quas or wex,wex for emp and quas for regen
Then I take the other 2 orbs,quas first if I didn't get it on level 1, 4hp regen is big
proceed taking everyting to level 4
when you have reached 4-4-4 start raising your skills,you can go 5-5-5 or each one individualy,I usually start with exort then wex then quas

Item guide:
Usually,my build goes like:Magic wand>2 bracers>Eul's scepter>boots of speed>aghanim's>heart>boots of travel
Eul's gives great regen,which you need so if you don't plan to get guinshoo take it
the bracers fortify your small health pool
unupgraded boots usually do very well for me,you have wex and eul's for the speed you need,so unless you need more movement speed imediately don't upgrade them,else go for phase boots
Heart is the solution to your fragility
aghanim's is a no brainer,2 sec cooldown rocks

Spell guide:
what is that? 5 guys are attacking your tower,how you react?
Meteor>deafening blast>tornado/emp/icewall
meteor first,as deafening blast usually spreads your opponents far from eachother
then deafening blast,it's a great disable
then unload your aoe spells,if there is anyone alive that is
if anyone survived and is running use cold snap + forge spirits/ice wall/tornado/alacrity to finish them off

if you are being hammered invoke a quick ghost walk,you can use eul's on yourself then shift queue the reagents and have ghost walk ready by the time it finishes,or you can use deafening blast/ice wall/tornado as a quick disable and then ghostwalk

Off-topic: I once read a youtube comment saying, "In Korea, if you want to marry a woman, you have to beat her father in Starcraft first."

@op: all the best in learning invoker.

Go watch some professional replays of Invoker.

P.S Buy Jango of Endurance (Drum of Endurance). Far too good of an item to pass up.

Be sure to train on wtf first and try to do combos like.

tornado/meteor/blast or
euls/meteor/blast
tornado/(blink)/Icewall/snap

learn to ghost walk with euls

Use euls on self, then press and hold SHIFT and
QQWR
then go invi

The most damaging combo(one of the hardest) is the following:

Tornado, EMP, Meteor, Blast

do it like this

Preinvoke EMP then Tornado, and have meteor ready (wee)

then do it like that:

f(cast), r, f(cast), d(cast), qwer, d(cast)

If you manage to combo this you can combo enything!

Good Luck!

COMBINATIONS ARE A "DUH".

WHAT YOU NEED TO LEARN IS WHEN TO USE WHAT.

Easy for beginners is to focus on Wex, and secondarily Quas. Learn to do EMP and tornado, then quickly invoke Cold Snap, and you'll be well on your way to raping pubs.

Almost every item is good on invoker,radiance works wonders with cold snap and you can use it with ghost walk to slow and damage while untouchable

All the chinese invokers used a script whereby 1 button press = an invoked spell. Seems unfair (and it is). Such scripts also exist for Dota 2, but you can expect punishment from Valve if they have any sense and ban macros.

they wont ban that. I use one butting to grab items from stash, activate haste, and send items to me for courier without selecting the courier.

invokers voice is lame. MAKE HIM HAVE MORE OF A CUNNING, COCKY, DARK VOICE.
He sounds like Gandalf's evil brother (a.k.a. Retarded) atm.

I frequently use a Q/E build because I prefer 1 v 1 fights. Always get a force staff.

Ok, this may sound a bit strange, but you can also go for a fuckingspeedcritvoker. Kinda casting, ranged motred. It's quite easy: skill quas on lv1 and let it lv1, then max up invoke, wex (first) and exort (second), get buriza and invoke alacrity and you'll have over 1000 crit at lv25 with this buff. Due to the low cooldown and manacost, you can run around on alacrity half of the time, dealing hard crits with a damn epic attack speed.
AND you got your spells, means your a critDps-caster-hybrid. Same rules as for Motred, try not getting targetet and stay in back. Let your teammates tank for you, whilst you crit down all enemys in 5 seconds and those who run away will be finished by chaos meteor.

My invoker crit build looks like this:
Skills:
1. Quas
2. Invoke -> cold snap (nice early gank spell)
3. Wex
4. Exort
5. Wex
6. Exort
7. Invoke -> EMP/ Meteor/ Sunstrike
8. Wex
9. Exort
10. Wex
11. Exort
12. Invoke
13. Wex
14. Exort
15. Wex
16. Exort
17. Invoke -> Alacrity + Meteor
18. Wex
19. Exort
20-25. Quas

Heal yourself a bit up with 3x quas if necessary, for fights use 3x wex.
When you got buriza + mjollnir, go for 3x exort in late game.
Why exort? By skilling this up, you boost your int -> more dmg and mana.
You can try to find out the best exort-wex combo for critting.

Items:
-->

-->
-->

Never got an ultrakill so fast, over 1000 crit output with 3x Exort.
Less crit dmg, but faster crits over time with 3x Wex.
This actually makes Invoker to a flexible critter, which is kinda unique.
