Any argument involving Lycan being left to free farm the woods is invalid.

If the enemy team has a Lycan, Naix or Ursa jungling and nobody enters their woods early on you pretty much fail.

He's definitely imba in pubs... I usually get Midas before Vlad and I can get midas/treads/bkb/vlad/basher REALLY early which leads to auto-win unless my team is horrible.

Not imba at all in high level games though. Ward jungle, play Ench/Chen in his jungle, mass disables/nukes from an organized team ruin him with his average hp.

His starting armor may not be high, but his Agi gain is fine for a Str hero and in addition to that, because of his core he gets 5 Armor from Vlads and 6 from Medallion.

My first Lycan game I went 33-0. I never left the lane or jungle. Wolves are amazingly good early. If anyone screws up, you will steam roll.

Lycan actually has a host of counters, most people are just too lazy/not creative enough to really come up with them. Certainly, if you have a skilled Lycan with a strong, balanced team supporting and protecting him, it will be difficult. But you could say the same for any strong carry.

Pros ban Lycan because you have to completely change your game to counter him, and it's annoying and pigeonholes your picks. It's not because he is overpowered.

I would agree that Lycan is annoying, but not OP. Way too many hero, item and strategy counters to be OP.

The difference is, +armor items are Lycan's core, he will get them asap (Basi or RoP as usual starting item for example), Doom does not.
Therefore, you can easily harass Doom in lane, but not Lycan (aside from the fact that he jungles).

You can't really list armor as a weakness of Lycan.

OP may be afraid to show his Lycan stats, but I'm not. This record is attained in pubs classified as high level, with me solo queuing.



Lycan is very hard to stop in pubs. Unless I find myself teamed with total scrubs, a team that picks 4 carries or noobs that firstpick Riki/Clinkz, I will eventually lead the charge and end the game in under 30 minutes.

It is true that lycan is a bad a%* hero but easily countered in most match ups, his strength will mainly really on ability to farm. harass him early game and its GG as said before fuzzy, dark seer and a few others could easily pick him apart without looking twice.

I like how this guy thinks simply entering the enemy woods and throwing a few attacks at Lycan is going to magically counter him. Or wait, how many people need to leave their lanes and camp their woods, very susceptible to counter ganks? Come on pro, tell us.

Since a jungeling lycan involves the enemy team having one more solo lane, it means that one of the 2v1 lane can just leave and gank that lycan.
In most pubs, the safelane is the solo lane. In this case even both heroes can jsut go into the jungle, kill lycan and only miss out on one wave.
