Lycan is one of the most imbalanced heroes in DotA as of now. Not only can he easily stomp pubs (I know this doesn’t say much) but he is a top Pick/Ban in the competitive scene.

The Problem with Lycan is that his core is very very cheap. Treads+Vlads total only 3500. This wouldn’t be that big of a problem BUT Lycan can quickly and efficiently farm the jungle from level 1. For an experienced jungler this core can be gotten within 7 mins (with teamwork, neutral stacking, and ofcourse getting vlads first). Even an unexperienced Lycan being ganked can pull with off at about 15mins (that’s only 233 GPM) and at that point he can 1v1 almost any hero, Roshan, and rip towers apart.
Sure if we gank him we will be fine, but HOW? He has max movement speed using shapeshift, solo ganking is dangerous because his wolves are no joke, and if you do dedicate a ganker there is an open lane that’s free to farm. And again how much of his farm are you going to stop? Lycan has to be retarded not to get his core before 20mins and even at that point he can gank, push, and kill better than most heroes.

Once he gets its BKB its truly over. Max Movement Speed, Cant be Killed, Lifesteals, and Has 2 Wolves that are stronger than many supports. He is just too damn good.
There isint even a clear counter for Lycan. You can get your ganking lineup but he can just cautiously farm, push towers at will and try to rush his BKB.

Warding his jungle is a waste imho as he can counter ward and make up that 200g a lot faster than a support. Hell with some team collaboration he can even get a support to counterward.

With smoke he can get to roshan without anyone knowing. Since we expect him in the jungle we don’t even know hes missing from lane.

The fact is there is NO hero who can farm this effectively, has such a cheap core, comes online faster than any other carry, and can carry throughout the game this well. Not much of an issue for competitive as they can just ban him, but for AP pubers something has to be done.

tl;dr Lycan OP, nerf him please.
Lycan can
-Can Farm Safely
-Has a great Escape/Chase Mech
-Comes online faster than any other carry
-Pushes better than most pusher
-Can gank very well
-Has a very cheap core
-Can Carry from midgame all the way to late game and can compete with all other carries easily.
-Is OP.

I've played like 50+ games with Bane already and he can help your team kill lycan due to his ulti going through BKB. If you get bkb on Bane enemy team wont interrupt it so easily and you can keep targets locked for 5(6sec with scepter upgrade). Bane's ulti get's blocked by Linken's Sphere as far as I noticed, so until Lycan gets both it should be possible to CC him for 5(6) sec.


Im not saying that Lycan is balanced and doesnt need tweaks, but there's few things which your team can do until he gets Linken's Sphere + BKB. Imo they should just make wolves deal half dmg to neutrals which would slow his stupidly fast farming rate.

Several ults stop BKB lycan dead in his tracks.

Lol, just like any melee carry just kite and cc him. Warding a forest or ganking him shouldn't be so hard either.

yea... let compain about lycan in pubs when ursa is 10 times worst... I recently played a game being lycan with an ursa picked on the other team. They just smoked and smashed me in jungle every single time. Lycan isnt a problem in pubs, ive won and lost many game with him on my team and against him. Ursa is another story

Step 1: Ward easy pulls (easy and medium)

Step 2: around 1 minute go into the jungle with a stun, and first blood lycan

Step 3: keep wards in the jungle, and kill liberally.

This is a carry people, it doesnt matter that hes in the jungle. If anyone left AM to free farm you'd scream bloody murder and call noob. Same applied to lycan in the jungle its just as dangerous as a free farming solo lane carry.

The only difference is lycan requires coordination and support to stop in the form of wards and ganks, a level which most pubs dont see.

Seriously though, I can see a teeny tiny nerf on his ulti duration, but that's it. 1.5 seconds off the top seems fair imo.

Lycan is one of those carries that are strong but not OP.

Rather than knock him down to pub hero's level, buff those up to his.

Lycan has about 2-3 heroes that can bunk off his jungle enough (wards can be dewarded), he could just lane. He's not an awesome laner, but wolves get him farm against ok laners, not that hard. Get that treads vlads moc in 15 mins (later than in the jungle) and you rape faces anyway. Point is, compared to other heroes, he's in a completely different level. Any hero can be dealt with if you go out of your way to counter him, that doesn't make him balanced.

Just tweak his ultimate so that it has a 1.5 sec cast time (same manner as prophet, where, even if you get stunned, the spell doesn't go on cd but just resets). Not a big difference if he uses shapeshift offensively, but this makes him much less able to get away from a dedicated gank.
